School Improvement Plan update –
Mental Maths – our school working party have been busy creating parent information sheets on
how we teach Mental Maths. Parents will also be invited to come into school and take part in a
mental maths lesson during the week beginning 15 June. A letter with a particular time for each
class will be out shortly.
Behaviour Group – a draft copy of our new Behaviour policy is available on the school website
and in the school’s foyer. If you have any comments or queries regarding this policy we would
love to hear them before the end of session. This policy will be implemented next session.
As part of our wider work on improving behaviour at school the children have had several taster
sessions involving ‘Loose Parts’ play with Mandy Tulloch from Mud Pies. The children thoroughly
enjoyed these sessions and worked collaboratively to solve problems. Letters have recently gone
out with a date and time for you to come and join your child during one of these sessions.
Bingo- our final bingo of this year will be on Thursday 11 June – I hope you will be able to join us!
School Photographer – we will be having individual and sibling photos taken on 8 & 9 of June,
children need to be in full school uniform for the photos.
Website
We have gone live at last! A groupcall has
been sent with the link to the school website.
It can also be found at
heathryburn@aberdeencity.gov.uk
If you have any suggestions or comments for
us on the website we would be delighted to
hear them.
App of the month - Patext
Patext is a great free app where
children can creatively display
any writing they do. This would
be good fun to use for homework challenges,
poetry or to write the text for a greeting card!
School Fair
Our annual summer fair is on Saturday 6 June.
Doors open at 10am until 1pm. Tickets cost
£1.50 for adults, 50p for children/concessions
and under 3s are free. We are still looking for
donations for the bottle and chocolate stalls. We
are also in need of helpers –if you can help
please call the school office.
Value – Tolerance
We learn about a new value each fortnight,
awarding children with castle points for
displaying this value in school. We are currently
learning about tolerance, learning to be patient
and understanding of each other.
