Sample Letter to the Editor
Dear John Smith, editor of the Spectator,
My name is Ling Chen. I am a 17-year-old high school senior. I am writing this
letter in the hopes of shedding some light on the very debatable topic of nature
versus nurture.
I believe that children who have parents that are athletic tend to be athletic as
well. I believe that we are what we are based upon the way in which we were
made. I agree with the theory of nature as this theory goes along with the way
in which I feel about genetic tendency. Our genetics are determined by
parents. If a parent excels at something, their children are going to excel as
well.
The theory of nature versus nurture is a very debatable, often arguable topic.
It is my hope that readers will see my story and not discredit nature. Let’s face
it; we would never be here without our parents!
Respectfully submitted,
Linh Chen
