MLA Formatting
All formal essays for this class must be formatted according to
MLA guidelines.
I’ve posted a handout on the website showing you how to do
this. Big things to remember:
Set your spacing at double
Create a page header using your last name and page
number (even page #1)
The heading: Upper left-hand corner - Your name,
my name, name of class, date the paper is due
You will need an original title. It should be centered
but not enlarged or formatted any differently than
the rest of the text. Only one double space between
heading and title, title and body text.

Sheet.
2. Follow the study guide
3. Review your study guide questions for How to
Read Literature Like a Professor. Bring your
study guide with you Monday.
4. The test will be matching, multiple choice,
true/false, quote identification, and short essay
answers.

Remember to bring a hard copy, please, of your college
admissions essay (final draft) to class on Monday. Also bring
your completed workshop sheet.
