Robust Touchscreen Performance is
Paramount
Portable devices require reliable user interface solutions
Necessity for any mobile display device featuring a touch user interface including:
Display panels ranging 1.5 – 5.9 inches
Mobile phones
Digital still cameras and portable media players
Personal navigation devices
Mobile Phones
Touch panel performance requires a robust solution
Charger and display noise cannot degrade touchscreen performance
Functionality needs to remain unchanged in the presence of water
Touch input must register fast and accurately
Low power consumption to support longer battery life
Digital Still Cameras
Your touchscreen system needs robust functionality in any
type of touch-enabled device

Challenges Using Synaptics S320x
1. Noise suppression is required for real-world functionality
Suppressing charger noise is critical to maintaining touch register functionality
Effective noise filtering must target both periodic and broadband noise in order to increase SNR
Synaptics S320X has a 3 V Tx max which leads to lower SNR
Smart Phone
2. Cannot support wet-finger tracking without false touches
Waterproofing is required for functionality in the presence of condensation, sweat, or rain
Synaptics S320x cannot do self + mutual capacitance sensing which is required for true Waterproofing and 1mm stylus support
3. Low performance CPU, less Flash and RAM limits data processing
Host processor requires sufficient processing power to support touch registration and advanced
features simultaneously
Synaptics S320x can’t support high performance advanced features with its underpowered CPU
Requires high performance in
the presence of noise and
water
