6. Is this course in any plan (major, minor or certificate) or sub plan (emphasis or concentration)?
Yes No
If yes, describe the impact and attach written responses from the affected academic units
prior to college curricular submission.
7. Is there a related plan or sub plan change proposal being submitted? Yes No
If no, explain.
N/A
Revised 06/22/2011
8. Does this course include combined lecture and lab components? Yes No
If yes, note the units specific to each component in the course description above.
9. Is there a course fee? Yes No
This change does not affect the current course fee.
10. Justification for course change.
Knowledge of EE 348 material is not required for EE 435, as filtering and frequency response are not discussed in this course. However, probabilistic channel noise models are discussed in EE 435; thus CENE 225 Engineering Analysis (or STA 275 Statistical
Analysis) is a more appropriate prerequisite for EE 435. Inclusion of CENE 225 or STA 275 as a prerequisite for EE 435 will not increase the number of students taking CENE 225 or
STA 275, as it is already a required course in the EE major program for both emphases, and is typically taken in sophomore year. See attached support from STA

Subject: Request to list STA 275 as an Alternate Required Class for EE majors
Terry,
We are making some catalog changes and would like to get your permission to add STA 275 as an alternate to the CENE 225 Engineering Analysis that is now required for our majors. We currently have about 50 students per year that would take either CENE 225 or STA 275, but I don’t anticipate this change would result in much more demand for STA 275 since it is not taught in our building.
Some students have been going this route already, but require special permission to substitute the STA
275 for CENE 225 class. If you approve, then it will also affect some prerequisites, which now list
CENE 225 only. That would change to either CENE 225 or STA 275. This would include EE 325 and
EE 435. Thanks for your consideration.
