INTRODUCTION
[Project Introduction]
TASK(S)
[Project Task(s)]
You are a team of medical students who will research one of nine systems of the human body.
These systems include: Circulatory, Digestive, Endocrine, Muscular, Nervous, Reproductive,
Respiratory, Skeletal, and Urinary. You will put your research findings together in a research
report, presentation, and poster/graphic display.
ACTIVITY/PROCESS
[Activities and Processes]
Using your textbook and websites listed under resources, research the selected body system.
Information that you will need to obtain for your research report, presentation, and
poster/graphic include:
1) Identify the system:
i) The major structures of the system.
ii) The cavity or location it resides in the body.
iii) The organs and their processes of the system.
2) Identify the functions of the system.
i) What is the overall purpose of the body system?
ii) Why is it important to the health of the body?
iii) What is needed for the system to function properly?
iv) Describe and define the basic chemical processes that result in homeostasis for the
body system.
3) Impact of nutrition, disease or malfunction of the system.
i) What can malnutrition do to this body system?
ii) What potential malfunctions can impact this body system.
iii) What diseases affect the system? What are the disease(s) symptoms and effects.
4) Final Product:
i) Research report on the selected body system, its functions, requirements, role in
proper health, nutritional needs, malfunctions, and diseases. Include how the body

system interacts with other body systems. Ensure proper use of terminology related
to the body system. (Minimum of 20 Unit 1 Terminology terms to be included and
underlined in report. Additional credit for each additional 5 terms used.) Reference
page with citations using Citation Machine (address provided in resources).
ii) Presentation to introduce the body system, it’s major functions, requirements, role in
proper health, nutritional needs, malfunctions, and diseases. Include how the body
system interacts with other body systems. Presentation can include powerpoint,
project board, or other visual aids.
iii) Power Point, Prezi or Demonstration of the body system.
Poster should include:
(a) Your Team Name.
(b) Label diagrams of the system, cavities, quadrants and region of the body
system.
(c) Graphics of healthy versus unhealthy graphic of the system and short
paragraph describing the nature of the unhealthy system included.
