Sign up to be a Budget Delegate!
Budget delegates are essential to Participatory Budgeting. It is their job to take the ideas developed by
community members at the neighborhood assemblies and elsewhere, and turn them into concrete proposals
to put on the final ballot. You can serve as a budget delegate if you are over the age of 14.
Take advantage of this opportunity to learn more about your community and budgeting!
Responsibilities and Benefits of Being a Budget Delegate
What will you do?






Attend five to ten meetings from December to March,
including a Budget Delegate Orientation.
Choose and work on a committee that will address
Masten’s needs (Committees may include: Education,
Transportation, Housing, Environment, Public Safety,
Parks & Recreation, Art & Culture, Youth, etc.)
Review community needs and ideas from across the
Masten District and develop project proposals with help
from city experts.
Visit locations across the Masten District and research
project ideas.
Participate in outreach efforts to engage the community
in Participatory Budgeting.
Educate the community about the project proposals and
Masten District needs at the Project Expos and during the
Vote next spring.
