sellable passion? You start from teaching and writing about what you know and like – just
the way you talk to friends and family about it. You’d be shocked to know that many people

Kiyosaki quote: cashflow quadrant and diagram and also fix in the book pic here with my
amazon code.
Where are you currently in the cash-flow quadrant, and where would you like to be in the
next 90 days? After reading and implementing the strategies in this book, you’d be up in
next quadrant.
The cashflow quadrant clearly illustrates that being in the B and E quadrant offers rest of
mind and true financial stability, and that is where everyone aspires to be. Kiyosaki advises
that people should and can, strive to elevate to the xx or xx quadrant to the B and S
quadrants irrespective of where they are presently.
In the book, Kiyosaki explains that the only way to attain true financial freedom is by owning
your own business, part-time or full time.
You can still start and build your own business today, no matter what you are doing right
now and where you are currently in the cash-flow quadrant, using whatever amount of free
time you currently have daily.
The Passion to profits Blueprint would show you (step-by-step) how to start and run a
profitable business without sacrificing the whole day on it. You will learn how to setup
systems that ensure your business keeps running itself and generating customers and sales
without your physical presence, even while you are sleeping so that 24 hours, all year round
your shop would be open to customers. How d’ya like that?
Take one: Income or Profits?
Some people have a full time job and interested in starting their own business but
wondering how that can be possible without sacrificing their job. There’s always a way out
– there are many successful entrepreneurs of today who started their own businesses by
moonlighting, that is working your business part-time while keeping your full time jobs.
Think of it – if people keep two jobs why can’t you keep a job and a business? You can do
the same. Get the Online Business Productivity Handbook [hyperlink here] to learn how to

apply a simple formula that always gets optimal results and income from your business with
just a few hours input. Know that it’s not about how much time you put in.
Jim Rohn suggests that you should “start working part-time on making a fortune” while you
are still working on a full time job, so that when your business starts making a steady
income much more than your current monthly income, you may want to increase your time
input into your business to generate even more profit. That is only when you should decide
whether to go full time in your business in order to generate even more income.
Secret Sauce of Successful Entrepreneurs:
Passion and Tenacity
Skills and passion are two major determinants of a successful entrepreneur and a successful
business. The strength of any business lies in the skill sets of its people plus their passion at
that. Skill sets are composed of knowledge, skills and abilities acquired over time. Where
someone has it, talents add exceptional finesse to skills and abilities and passion makes it an
attractive, irresistible, must-have package to another person.
Passion is the secret to attraction marketing – where customers run after you.
Your skill sets is the expertise that you would bring to the table, and building your business
around what you know and like will help to quickly establish you as an authority in your
market. Because you have an above average knowledge of your customer’s products and
industry, you can easily find the best products that match the needs of your customers, and
your expert advisory will help you make sales faster than normal.
Passion is magnetic and contagious. Have you seen people talking about something they are
passionate about? They put so much energy and zeal into it such that you wish you were
them. Imagine what would happen if that person is selling something that he is passionate
about? He would do more than average salesman and talk more about the benefits of the
product to the consumer, and less about the features, because of the knowledge he already

has on the subject matter. A lot of people would buy just because they got attracted to a
passionate marketer.
Passion puts excellence to customer service.
I know that you have some unique skill sets, knowledge and talents that you are passionate
about. Think about those things you find yourself doing for others or talking about all day
long without care for money, even though you know that some people are earning a living
from doing that same thing. You can learn how to turn your passions to profits.
Passion puts tenacity and staying power into a business
Only passion can produce a committed, focused entrepreneur – nothing else. Passion
driven businesses have the highest rate of success.
If you run a business that is built around the things you love, you'll never get bored of it.
You’ll attract more customers easily than your competitors because customers would see
right through the passion you exude when discussing how your products or services can
help them. That alone will keep them coming back, and keep the profits coming in steadily.
Businesses start small and with consistent efforts, they grow and produce bigger profits but
some people never get to the point of big profits before quitting. They never even put
consistency in their businesses; rather they start off and jump from one business to another
where they see others have found success. These are the “me too” entrepreneurs. Passion
is a critical element that can keep an entrepreneur focused while growing a business.
Let’s look at passion differently. It is advised to do a Strength-Weakness–OpportunitiesThreats (SWOT) analysis before starting any business. Find your passion and you’ve got your
“S” (Strengths) sorted. The Online Business Productivity Handbook [hyperlink here] will
teach you how to identify your weaknesses and how to turn them to strengths to work for
you. The internet and Web 2.0 presents you with a vast opportunity to build and drive your
business.

Passion is Not Enough
It is important to point out that passion without efforts will not produce anything. Talents
and passion are not enough!
Passion + Business + Consistent Activities = (Sales) Profits
Passion + Business – Consistent Activities = Zero Income
If people who need and are looking for what you have to offer cannot find you, you cannot
profit from passion. Therefore you need to learn how to take passion to the marketplace,
where the buyers hang out.
“…selling is the process of moving goods and services from the hands of those who produce
them into the hands of those who benefit most from their use” ~ Hopkins (Selling for
Dummies)
Do you know that most business owners, online or offline, have a tough time running their
businesses. In fact, over 50% of them shut down within a year or two of starting, and only
less than 10% manage to break even.
Learning what the 10% doing that the others are not will help you start and stay successful
in your business.
There are two things that successful business owners have: passion and tenacity.
1. Passion for sharing what they know and a passion for selling – they enjoy selling their
product or service. Passion brings enthusiasm and stamina into your business and
your service to customers. Because you are passionate about what you do, it’d be
easy for you to show care and love to your target customers and readers, by
assisting them to get what they want and even better via your objective advice and
counsel through your contents and emails.

“Unless you love everybody, you can't sell anybody.” ~ Dicky Fox (from the movie
"Jerry Maguire")
2. Tenacity. Successful entrepreneurs have a “stick with it and don’t give up” attitude.
They treat their business like what it is - a business – and have a set of income
generating activities written down plus a daily schedule to carry out those activities,
and they do these activities consistently until they see small, small and then big
results.
The result is that no matter how broke and low they begin, over time they are
usually able to optimize their products and their marketing for ever greater profits.
If you’ve got passion, do you have the discipline to conform to habits that would enable you
treat your business like a business? If not, you either have to learn it now or forget about
starting a business.
However, if you have made up your mind to do everything that it takes to be a successful
entrepreneur, your passion would fuel your tenacity, staying power and drive to keep going
at your endeavours before the big profits start coming in. You definitely need this in
business because it is the little drops of consistent work at your income generating activities
that would result in consistent small income, that would eventually becomes huge income.
What You Need to Make Money from Your Passion
In the previous section, I mentioned that you need two key qualities – passion and tenacity
–to run a sustainable business. It is equally important for you to understand that in order to
make money from your passion, you must have the 4 P’s of marketing:
Product: Customers are looking for exceptionally good products with great value, so
ensure to only market good, irresistible products. Products are discussed in this book
under the chapter “Your Profit Instruments”
Price: Customers buy when the price is fair. In the chapter “Your Profit Instruments”
I also discussed pricing as it usually is the basis (after quality) for customers to make

buying decisions. Always think of how fair your target customers would perceive the
price of your products, compared to similar products.
Place: Where would you situate your business? Where and how would your target
customers find you, and your products? This topic is covered in the chapter “Setting
up your online shop”.
Promotion: What promotional mechanisms would you put in place to make it easy
for more people to find your online place? This is covered under the topic “Traffic” in
this book.

The Behaviour of the 21st Century
Buyers
Technology has changed the way people buy goods and services - now they buy right from
their homes. Thus, offline businesses are fast losing customers, and sales, to online
businesses.
The 21st century customer loves this kind of convenience especially as it affords them a
variety of choice such as pricing and providers. These kinds of choice make the customers
the king that they truly are.
In traditional businesses, the behaviour of consumers has been the key consideration for
deciding on where to locate a business and how to market products and services. This has
not changed. However, it remains the duty of a business owner to research new trends in
buyers' behaviours at the time of business start up, as it can mean the difference between
making real money and just getting by.
Businesses located in Prime locations always make the most sales because they have the
advantage of being easily found by customers. The Internet is today's unbeatable prime
location, accessible by anyone not just in your city and country – but in any country.
The internet is closing physical boundaries and so the world is shrinking to become a global
village. To cash in on the opportunity that the internet offers to businesses, you need to
understand how today’s customers buy – what are they looking for, why do they buy/ not
buy, what kind of providers/ suppliers are they attracted to and buy from?
When you learn these, you will be one step ahead of your competitors and you can grab a
big share of the market to yourself.

What Buyers Want from Sellers?
These points below, from The Rainmaker Handbook, points how you can position yourself to
best meet your customers’ needs and become the preferred salesperson in your market.
Buyers typically want to buy from people who:
Are their friends
Are honest
Understand business trends and their specific company
Provide advice during the decision process around the sale
Present a good professional image and friendly personality
Help the buyer find solutions to real problems
Can you be all that to your target buyers? Yes, you can. Read on and you’ll learn.
Smart marketers embrace change and run with it!
Every serious business today must adapt to the changes in the behaviour of the 21st century
buyers or stand the risk of facing a slow death. The 21st century buyer does not like to be
sold (even when they want to buy), is a researcher; is not
in a hurry to buy, loves to analyse and compare
information across related websites in order to decide the

hate to feel like they’ve been
sold” ~ - Jeffrey Gitomer
one that offers best-fit help.
Relevant, useful and related information is what triggers people to buy.
Look at the illustration below. That’s the process today’s buyers take before hitting the
order button. They are just wired to take themselves through this process UNTIL they get to
the point of self-conviction (Aha! I have gone round and I am convinced that this is the best
information provider, and so I can buy from here so that I can get free tips to enable me get

A buyer loves to know why they should buy a product and whether it’s the best alternative
available in the market. They do this even when a doctor recommends prescription to
them They are only going to buy when it’s their idea – not yours – to buy any particular
product. They do not like anyone trying to convince them.
They are always searching for the best and most value for their buck, and they know it when
they see it – without being talked into it – and they know to start searching from the
internet.
Furthermore, they like to search for solution providers and vendors that offer more
information on a product they are interested in, and how the product can benefit them or
solve their problem. The least of their interest here is the features of the product.
Will you be that go-to-person in your market, where prospects will find answers to their
most pressing question and needs? If so, you must be prepared to put education and
information in the front, before the offers or products that you are selling.
Knowing these new types of buyers, their needs and buying behaviours would help you to
know how to position yourself ahead of your competition so that you always give them
exactly what they want without being pushy.

If you give them what they want (information), they’ll give you what you want (sales).
It’s Easier to Sell Online than Offline
The traditional sales cycle involves the salesman doing all the searching for prospects,
chasing them around and trying to convince them; sometimes forcing products down
customers’ throats.
It’s even more tasking because the salesperson does this one-person-at-a-time. How many
people can you possibly talk to in one day, assuming that’s the only thing you do in an entire
24 hours? How many of those would finally make a purchase?
Did you see, in the previous section that the 21st century buyers love searching and getting
convinced, and that removes the “sales” element from the job of the 21 st century “smart
salesman”. They absolutely love to do the chasing.
That means if you allow the buyers come to you, half the work is being done by the them,
and so the new age salesman can best be described as a “marketer” since he is left with
the responsibility of marketing and advertising his products so that the target buyers can
easily find him. In this case, he is now tasked with getting to the heart of the buyers with
loads of relevant, useful information.
Look at this - with your business online, you can communicate to hundreds and even
thousands of people in 2 hours (via webinars) or less; your message and contents once set
up would be there forever and be seen by different people all day long, so that you are
able to mass-communicate to large numbers of people with less efforts, and high results.
You can get all these results with zero advertising budget. Do you see why the internet
marketplace is the primmest location for your business.
Knowing the new age consumer behaviour gives you an edge over ignorant, competing
businesses. As a smart marketer that you are, you should be aiming to be that website that
land on when they search for information on the internet. You should do everything possibly

How to Become the Buyers’ Preferred Source
Of what use is having your business online getting lots of people reading your blog posts if
you do not convert them to buyers? That is the essence of your blog – to convert readers to
buyers!
The money is in the conversion of blog readers to buyers!
Yes, traffic alone cannot produce sales, unless it is backed up with an effective sales
conversion strategy.
This section is all about being a strategic salesperson or marketer, doing the things that the
other marketers are not doing in order to win the most sales. If you understand that every
effective sales process is relationship led, and you learn how to master that, you’ll be able to
market and sell anything.
Here are two proven and effective approaches to get the sales:
1. Linguistic Approach: Use of certain “magic words” in your article headlines and
body, as well as in your email subject lines and body can drastically increase the rate
at which you convert readers to subscribers, and subscribers to first-time and repeat
buyers.

Scientific research suggests certain words have an effect on the brain that makes
readers make certain decisions.
If top earners attest over 50% of their conversion success to using these trigger
words in their marketing campaigns to make their customer says yes sooner, why
not you? They were not born with it – they learnt it. Get a copywriting book or take
an online copywriting course today and start applying those killer tactics.
2. Relationship-driven Approach: People prefer to buy from those they know and
trust. This method results in higher number of repeat sales.
To bring to live the idea of effective sales strategies, pause for a minute and, in your mind,
walk through the stages you observed that religious groups apply when taking off.
They first make contact with their prospects and build
trust relationships with them, while giving them lots
of information so that over time their prospects see
them as an authority and of their own will become
convinced and converted without being forced to.
...And the cycle continues for every new prospect.
This is the exact strategy that smart salespersons and
marketers use today to rake in profits. Now you can
also start using it in your own business to amass
“Selling involves person-person
communication with a prospect.
It is a process of developing
relationship; discovering needs;
matching the appropriate products
with these needs; and
communicating benefits through
informing, reminding or
persuading.” ~ Rainmaker

The Rainmaker handbook describes the five stages of any effective sales process as follows:
1. Attention: Your customers are the main reason for your business’ existence and so
you must get their attention. If you do not stand out, you have struck out on your
whole sales process. Relevant, compelling contents will get you noticed by buyers
searching for information because if you write relevant contents, they would be on
the top Google or search engine pages so that searchers can click and land on your
blog. This is covered in details in a later chapter.
2. Interest: You must quickly gain your customers interest. If someone is interested in
your product or service, they will gladly listen to your sales pitch. The relevance and
quality of your contents will get your target customers first interested in you; more
contents via blog posts, ebooks or reports and emails to readers who opted in to
your lists will continue to strengthen their interests in you and build trust.
3. Conviction: The next step is convincing the prospect that it would be wise for them
to purchase your product. The prospects goes through pre-selling steps (1 to 3 and 4)
all on their own, and on autopilot at your end, all done strategically by the contents
you create. That is why compelling contents are said to be “salesmen in print”.
4. Desire: After convincing someone that your product is great, you must make them
desire ownership of it.
5. Close: A customer can experience all of the above and not purchase a product or
service. You have to close the sale to make it happen. [An excellent resource for

Where art thou? Your Customer is
Looking for you
Everyone has got something special in them, and there is someone out there looking for
that thing, ready to pay for it. Where are they looking and searching for that thing you have
to offer? Would they find you there?
This chapter is about letting you know why you need to position You Inc. exactly where your
target customers come to search for stuff to buy, so that they can easily and quickly find
you. That place is the internet – the primmest business location of the century.
Your customer is only a click away!
Prime locations provide the advantages of accessibility by large numbers of customer and
usually come with a premium. That is why only the rich people can afford to situate their
businesses in prime locations and cart away majority of customers, thereby. However, that
has changed. You can now take a spot on the highway of the prime location, with low
budget, only if you learn how to.
This book will show you how to, in very easy steps that anyone can follow.
Do you know that a good number of people are in need of, and looking for what you have
and can do easily with passion? There is even a huge market not only for products and
services around your passion, but information, advisory and “how tos” that you already
provide for free. And they are even ready, with cash-in-hand, looking all over the internet
for You Inc. Yes, there is a demand and market for just about anything, and you can sell
anything only if you know how?
The essence of this book – to help you see the potentials of your talents and passions and
then show you how to brand and position yourself so that people looking for what you have

can easily find you. You will not be the one chasing them – they will come to you – is that
not an awesome kind of marketing?
This book will provide you with actionable steps to do just that:Identify what you can offer (your knowledge, skills and abilities within your passion
zone)
Find a starving crowd for what each offer (starving crowd = your target market)
Listen to the market and find out what exactly that crowd is looking for
Refine your offer to suit the exact market needs
Weed out the offers with low market size or demand
Sizing Up Your Market
Every successful business has a “reason for being” or a mission statement built around filling
identified needs of an identified hungry market. Now, you have an offer (your skill) and
there’s no doubt that there is a market for every topic and offer under the sun. However, if
the market is not big enough it would not make business sense for you to enter it.
What determines whether a business will be profitable is the size of the market – that is, the
number of people that are looking for what that the business is in business to meet. If a
large number of people need the offer, then there’s a green light to proceed to next steps. If
not, find another market that is large enough to produce long term profits.
“How big is the appetite of the market for what I can offer?” “Is it commercially viable”?
You may be asking "Is it really worth it to give free value first to customers before receiving
their sales"? To beat your competitors, yes it is worth it. Free is a proven attraction magnet
– always works. As you will find out soon, every market, and business, has got competitors
scrambling for the same customers and not all businesses know what the customers want?
The smart ones do, and they always get the most sale.

Now that you know that the internet is the prime location for setting up your new passion
business, there is a need for you to find out what the size of your own market is and what
their EXACT needs are – no guess work here. You are going to let the market tell you what it
wants and how big it is.
In this section, you’ll drill into the minds of your target buyers to know the EXACT things are
they looking for, thinking about, and concerned about? That would help you know which of
their needs and/or problems you can solve, and which of the needs have the highest
demand, hence can offer most profits faster and consistently in a long term. We’ll let the
market tell us – no guess work!
Keyword Research Tools makes it easy to establish the size and commercial viability of a
market and also the competition within it. You would also be looking to see what submarkets exists within that market that has phrases (i.e. keywords) related to your skill of
passion.
With a keyword research tool, you can:
Estimate the size of an existing market by looking at how many times, or people, are
searching for your target products or services
Estimate the size of sub-markets, that is those around related words or phrases
Understand the language that people use and the words they enter into search
engines – an indication of their exact needs within a market
Identify popular keywords related to your target market
Estimate the competition you have. These are the websites that already address
your target market. A Google search on each popular keyword (you identify) will pull
out the websites that are already serving that market.

Type a word or phrase that describes your first passion area and hit enter (look at
the results for that key phrase and related keywords that consumers are using – look
at the search frequency by over 24 hour period and 30 day period)
Save this in a spreadsheet.
Take the second, and third... and last keyword - rinse and repeat - save it.
Compare across - sort and sift the needs with the highest volumes.
Keep this search saved as it will guide you in what topics to write on, that will get
most hits when searches are looking for answers - you should target to provide
answers via posts on your blogs, to some of those keyword searches.
Researching “Buying Key Phrases”
Key search phrases or keywords. Different people have different preference, something I
would highly recommend using is Google keyword tool. Which is free to use for all and also
very effective.
You can just go to the tool and insert your keywords. And Google will just give you the
suggestions based on the keywords you have entered. But that’s the simple way to go about
it. There are few options which are available with this tool which you can use it for your own
benefit and we will go through them one by one.

Once you just click on the advanced options menu, the tool should open up a new set of
available options which you can use for your own advantage.

Locations And Languages: This setting can come pretty handy if you want to research for
keywords on specific locations, if your site is just targeting thee UK visitors then it should be
a good idea to choose United Kingdom and English as your language.

Include Specific Content: If your site is adult related then its a good idea to choose “Include
adult ideas” option which is turned off by default.

Show Stats For: This option should be chosen if you want to know the mobile search
information, as the mobile users is on the rise this data should prove to be very useful
especially if you do want to target mobile users.

Show Results For: This option should be really useful if you want to target keywords which
has the terms you look for or you need the keywords which are related to the one you have
typed in the text box. I would recommend using both of this option when you are
researching for the keywords as they should give you more keyword ideas for your website.

Filter Keywords: Very helpful option when you have a fixed criterion for the keywords you
want to focus on in your site. If you do not have any criterion then I do not use this option.

Choosing Your Keywords
Now that we are familiar with different options available with Google keyword tool, lets
proceed to the main part which is choosing the right keywords.
Once you set the required options and type in the phrases you should be able to see that it
does list you with many keyphrases with necessary details like. Global monthly search and
local search, competition etc. Global monthly search just gives you an idea on how many
searches are made for the keywords on an average across the globe per month. Local search
gives you an approximate number of search that comes from the locality you have chosen in
the advanced options.
So what is the right keyword to choose?
Its a best idea to choose the keywords that really relates to the contents that your site is
holding or going to hold. Secondly do choose keywords with less competition and decent
amount of searches. Thirdly do check the trends graph that this tool provides, which should
give you an idea whether your keyword is having a down trend or up going trend in terms of
searches coming from your targeted locality.
Alternatively you can also download the list and sort them out accordingly on a excel sheet,
which most professional SEOs prefer to do.
Activity 3 – How to Find Your Most Sellable Passion
In the previous activity, you found out that most of your passion markets are commercially
viable. However, their degrees are viability are different. Your goal here is to find one
passion, one market – with the highest potential. You can’t possibly serve all the submarkets; you want to establish credibility as an authority in one market.

You may or may not find more than one areas that look promising, from the keyword
research you just did. You may be undecided as to which market to focus on in your new
passion-driven business.
You’ve got more than one passion and skill, each possibly scattered across different
unrelated markets. However, you need to focus on one market in order to give it our most
attention and gain success in your business endeavours. Because the primary purpose of a
business is to find a need with large, hungry market and fill it, in order to make profit, you
will be sorting through your generated keywords to select the one that has the best
potential - large hungry market and moderate competition.
Here’s a task to help you decide on one niche:
Prioritize your keywords (passions) – put a figure from 1 (lowest) to 10 (highest) on
them to signify your strength at them, your confidence level and how comfortable
you are on the subjects, as a business
It’s okay to have a tie – some scoring equally
Sift out the lowest scorers, between 1 and 7
Re-score the ones left, from 1-5
Sift out the scorers 1 to 4
Pick on area one from the top scorers, that you feel most comfortable with. That is
your winner, and your market or niche!
To move on to the next chapter, ensure that you have completed the chapter tasks so that
you now have the following:
-
A niche, that is market that you can fill some identified needs using your skills,
talents and knowledge
-
Identified most common needs of that market

How Sales Are Made Online Today
There has to be some form of advertising, marketing and sales to bring in sales and so it is
important to know how to sell effectively in today's world. While your traffic efforts would
be bringing in leads to visit your blog, your contents and autoresponders will be working
24/7 all year round to market for you and convince and pre-sell your leads.
An online sales process that gets results is similar to dating.
Let's talk about a more effective, 21st century approach of marketing that you will be using
in your business. It is called Attraction Marketing and in this marketing approach, you would
treat your potential customer carefully just like you treat a potential date. If you take your
sales and marketing process just like a typical dating process, you would be a great leads
magnet.
This model is about understanding the buying behaviour of today's customers, their exact
needs (via keyword search) and carefully crafting contents that answer their burning
questions, provide them with some Do-It-Yourself guides, provides honest, unbiased and
independent product reviews and comparisons that helps internet searchers to make buying
decisions. Attraction marketers are smart marketers, they position themselves as the “goto-person” in their niche; they always churn out fresh, relevant contents that keeps them
coming back for more, and even bookmark and recommend your blog. To attract prospects,
your contents must be solution-based and relevant to their needs.
This model also understands that today’s buyers are ready to give (out their dollars) only
when they have received first and are convinced that you’ve got more value in store. They
love to peek first before entering the ship - they like to have a taste of You Inc and evaluate
whether your blog contents are true, whether your contents are really valuable to them, did
your contents help them in any immense way without your selling them anything? Note that
they may not answer these questions in one day, 1 week, even 1 month but be sure that if
you match their expectations, they will opt-in to your list, stay close to you to get updates
and at that time the ball is in your court to make that relationship a worthy one for both of
you.

This model understands that prospects love brands and the authority that brands attract
and so attraction marketing system emphasises the importance of any online business to
have their own web-space www.myownbusiness.com name so that their customers know
where to find them. If you use websites that are built and leased to you by a product you
are marketing - you do not have control over building relationships with your prospects for
any other businesses you may want to run later.
Engage them and Apply “Seduction and Dating” Strategies...
Prospects do not like sales people. They hate to smell any act of selling, even though they
want to buy.
They like to buy from these kinds of people:
People they have come to build trust in;
People that educate and inform them on things they are unclear about;
People that provide solutions to their problems
Reasons why prospects buy:
They believe and feel that the seller has their best interests in mind;
The seller walked them through a course that enabled them to:
o Find out the causes of their problems;
o Believe and hope that their problems can be solved;
o Convince themselves that they are making the best decision
A smart marketer knows his prospects likes and dislikes and leverages on that to make sales.
A responsive prospect-marketer relationship is natural and relationship led, similar to dating
relationships - no man gets a date by being upfront the very first day. He is tactical - says hi
and not pushy, just stays a bit far off but keeps dropping in values, gifts etc to warm up to
the girl, and start an enabling environment for discussions first... then one date, two dates
and more and then relationship. It is a progressive process, so is marketing successfully to
todays customers. This method gets the customer to self-sell himself and when he is
satisfied he responds by making a purchase or contacting you to ask a few questions before

doing so. This kind of marketing removes rejection from the selling game, as you only have
to deal with pre-qualified and pre-sold
customers - your contents had already
done the marketing and advertising for
you, freeing you to take some time off to
A prospect is someone who has entered his name and
email address into your opt-in form, on your blog, to
receive a free book (or video or podcast) and / or
updates from you.
have fun.
In every business, the sales process is effective when rapport and relationship is built with
the prospect. You'll learn how to do in a later chapter, using emailing and automating the
process with an autoresponder. People don't buy from strangers. Your contents and regular
communication via email to your opt-ins (prospects) are strategies to bond you with them
and help draw them into you. It's an absolute No-No to communicate sales pitches to them
directly or by implication as that would result in them perceiving you as a salesman who
does not have their interests at heart and they would push back and opt-out and go
somewhere else where the environment is receptive to their style of buying and respects
their timing for purchase. They will buy at their own time.
Wouldn’t you rather be a marketer than a salesman?
Would you start a discussion with a friend (who is visiting) outside your door or right inside
your home? The right thing is to first allow the friend inside your home and then welcome
the friend with some drinks, small talk and discussions.
The principles of effective selling is the just same. First, a prospect visits your blog, then
offer them a friendly useful gift (your free book) and invite them closer into your inner circle
(list) so you can present them with your offer. When a prospect has entered inside [your
list], you strategically build relationships that, over time, reduces their barriers and
objections to making a purchase, because they naturally would be inclined to buy from a
friend (you) than from another. While in your list, all your product recommendations
(marketing) would be direct at them.

The best thing here is that sales would happen without selling or sales pitch, and the result
is a happy, satisfied and loyal customer. Did you see that here there is little or no selling, just
strategic marketing whereas in the traditional approach the salesman does more talking and
convincing while the prospect is fleeing and objecting, and the salesman is chasing harder.
Cut the chase and be a smart marketer.
You may be wondering why you should offer a free book. Free always works! The shopping
malls use it all the time – Buy one, Get one free; One iPod for each of the first 20 buyers

The Age of Education-Based Marketing
Paul Zane Piltzer, in his book The Next Millionaires, mentioned that “the fortunes to be
made today and in the years ahead will be made by those who are involved in teaching
people about new products and services that they didn’t know existed or didn’t know were
now affordable.” And he called that intellectual distribution. He further highlighted that
people learn via word-of-mouth from other people.
Technology and social media are the new mediums for word-of-mouth communication, and
any smart marketer would do well to ride on them now.
Teaching is “Customer Centred” and Sells better than the Traditional
“Product Centred” Approach
Did that tell you anything about the new way to sell? I am sure you got that clue that to grab
a piece of today’s market share; you have to be a “teacher” and not an “old school business
man”. Go do your findings, even the big multi-million dollar companies are coming on
board the “selling by informing and teaching strategic marketing approach”. You will find
their websites now being customer focused, as opposed to the former way of “all-abouttheir products-kind-of-websites”.
Teaching is a Brand Differentiator

If everybody is selling the same product, how would you add a twist to differentiate yours
from that of other distributors or salespeople? You definitely are not going to sit there and
do nothing to get the most sales you can, are you? No, you are going to add some “free
value” to what you sell in order to attract more customers. Why not be proactive and “get in
the mind of your target customers” and imagine some things that may influence their
purchase, some things that may delay their decision to purchase. Doing that will set you
apart.
Do you know that the timeline for buying a product is largely delayed by customers’ search
for “more useful information” on the product; looking for practical “how to” use it; looking
for available alternatives and comparisons in benefits and costs. There are a whole lot of
possible reasons why customers do not buy the first they start thinking of getting a product
to solve their needs. They do all these kinds of “asking” and researching on the internet, and
the “smart marketers” who provide these answers on their website get the sale. Why do
they keep searching for more information? They do so because the product manufacturers
and offline shops provide only features about the products or services, and they want to
know “What Is In It For Me” (WIIFM), what would the features do for me/ How would the
features solve my problem or reduce my pain or challenges.
Position Yourself as the Information Hub and you’ll Get the Sale
Now that you know that majority of ready buyers are looking for more than the product, you
can do something to provide the “gaps” and answers to these in your website so that they
can find your answers when they go searching. That is called education based marketing or
attraction marketing.
When people perceive you as a honest information provider or solution provider, with no
upfront monetary attachment, they will come closer and be free to ask further questions to

giving you a sale. Isn’t that sweet that a customer found you and asked to buy?

Any smart marketer must always diversify their offerings by affiliating himself with providers
of products related to the needs of their target customers. That way, you do not send your
customers away after they have gone through a sales pre-qualification process.
How to Present Your Offers without Being Salesy
How do you present your offers when you are selling by educating at the front end? You can
write product reviews, recommendations within articles and posts or product reviews and
leave them to come to you or hit a buy button. If you give them what they want (useful
information), they will give you what you want (sales).
By providing relevant, useful and content-rich articles, you would generate enough interest
in your website or blog to make the readers (and prospective customers) want to get more.
Build relationships and rapport to break barriers to rejection and open the doors to your
recommendations. Because people only buy from those they have a relationship with,
sending out regular emails to your subscribers would open the doors for you to expose your
expertise through your contents, so that they get to know you over time and warm up to
you. Make a habit of blending in your promotional messages into your emails about 20% of
the time, so that 80% of the time, your messages are purely informational.
Subscribers tend to perceive frequent promotional emails as salesy and taking advantage of
their email privacies. That is why moderate is key.
Instead of being perceived as salesy, learn how to be perceived as an
expert, through information provisioning.
You may want to ask your readers their opinions on what they would like to see posted on
the blog, their pain points and business frustrations - thereby giving you easy pointers of
topics to write on. That helps you to know their needs better and keep playing your role
better as the solution provider to your growing tribe.

It is important for you to detach any wording that might be perceived as "pitchy" and
associate you with negative stereotypical salesperson image when recommending products
and services you are affiliated to. Asking and getting them to talk ensures that you have a
healthy relationship with your prospects.
The difference between this approach of marketing and the traditional methods is that the
other is focused on talking about the product and its benefits first to the prospect without
care about what this particular prospect's peculiar problem - they perceive that as selfish
and that is not effective in this day.
Attraction marketing teaches you to have a consultant's mindset that focuses on your blog
readers (that is, your market) - not you
- they do not care about you or what
you are selling - the primary reason why
“If you help enough people get what they
want, you will get what you want” ~
Anthony Robbins
they came is to look for information on
leading to solving their current problem.

Setting up Your Online Shop: Stepby-Step
Do you remember I mentioned the need to have a “place” or location for your customers to
find business and what you offer? That was when we discussed the 4 P’s of marketing. Yu do
not need just any place but you need a premium location, and I must tell you that the top in
the list of premium locations is the internet.
Don’t worry; it’s not difficult to do business online. I was afraid of that too, sometime and
now I wished I had done it earlier. Let me assure you that if you can use an email, can copy
and paste, then you can build your business online. It’s not a techie thingy at all! All kinds
of people have online businesses – Grannies, Baby Boomers, Teenagers and the inbetweens. You can too.
Why should you do your business online?
As an effortless, free passive marketing strategy, and front for your customers to find
you. Every business does advertising and marketing to create demand and generate
new customers;
To attract other businesses for partnerships or joint ventures;
For increased brand visibility beyond what was possible doing business offline (small
business getting known by more people) resulting in increased customer. People buy
what they know, from whom they know or their friends/ family know – you want to
increase your brand exposure and reach more people.
It's always been a known fact that setting up a business is the best way to create true
residual income but barriers to doing business (especially overhead costs) prevent many
people from starting their own business ventures. The good news is that the internet has
removed majority of these barriers and democratized doing business and you can still jump
into the wagon and start profiting.

Your Profit Instruments
In order to run any business, you need a market (with identified and need) and a unique,
irresistible offer (that fills that need).
You need to sell something to make profit. You can sell your own products or promote other
people’s products, or even do both. However, whichever you do, you would still make
profits. The products that you market are your profit instruments.
What Will You Provide to the Market
You already know the market that you want to serve but you cannot sell them everything.
What exactly would you sell – products or services? Would you be creating the products or
service yourself or would you prefer to promote Other People’s Products (OPP) related to
your passion areas?
Whatever option you choose, it is important to emphasize the need to have multiple
streams of income, and also point out that speed of implementation is key to quickly staying
on cashflow. If you decide to create your own products to sell, it is better for you to have a
buffer for your planning and design period, so that you never risk being out of money at any
time.
One major reason that 97% of online businesses fail is that they run dry of funds before they
see the light of the day. Smart marketers do something differently to avoid that happening
to them. Promoting Other people’s Products (OPP) is a good way to start off, so that your
business starts off on profit, while you are creating your own product from scratch. This is
known as Affiliate Marketing.
This chapter is about how you can source for Other People’s Products (OPP) that you can
promote to your subscribers and make commissions on sale.
There are two popular models that allow you to make money from Other People’s Products
(OPP). These are:

Affiliate Marketing
You could have your own products including but not limited to:
EBooks
Consulting and coaching programs
Membership sites
This chapter will only be introducing you to Affiliate Marketing. You can find products
specific for only people in your niche (end users or consumers) and you can also find
generalist products for business builders across every market (people selling products or
services).
In order to sell Other People’s Products, you would be plugging into existing systems that
have a wide range of products you can choose from. Some of the places you can find
products to promote to your list include:
Clickbank
Commission Junction
PayDotCom
The above places have products that target different markets.
Two well known systems that have a portfolio of education products on different skill areas
on Online Marketing are Magnetic Sponsoring and Renegade Marketer Systems. Infact
many online marketers start by promoting only their education products because there is a
market for online business education, for new entrants and existing marketers who want to
increase their market value and command a premium. Both systems offer several books
that address the needs of online businesses, from beginner level up to intermediate and
advanced. The only snag is that both systems are only open to people who have bought any
of their educational products.

The Art and Science of Online Marketing
Now that you have products to market, you need to learn how to do business online,
specifically talking about the art and science of online marketing and selling.
Many offline businesses, home businesses, network marketers and multi-level marketers
are taking their businesses online and it becomes important to learn how to sell online, so
that they do not turn off potential buyers through spamming, thinking that they are selling.
Learning the secrets of online success can shove off over a year’s efforts at doing the wrong
thing, and help an online marketer to quickly earn income a year and sometimes more,
ahead.
It is important to emphasize that the essence of your website or blog is to provide
information to online searchers (who could become your readers and ultimately buyers) and
not a portfolio of items on sale. The customer is king, and the 21st century buyer decides
the right time to buy – only after they have become satisfied with information search and
51

Passion to Profits Blueprint
Brought to you by Stella Anokam™ - Strategic Marketing Tips for the Magnetic Entrepreneur
also become convinced that they are the ones making the buying decision and not the seller
“pushing” the items down their throat.
These 21st century buyers would quickly flee at any smell of sales speeches – they like to
sell themselves first and come to the seller, and not the other way round (19th century
buyers did not have the power; they were at the mercy of the salesmen. Then, salesmen
were the king – they just pushed down several products and services down the throat of
buyers, playing on buyers’ emotions).
The game has changed (with the entrance of web 2.0) and so must the sellers, if they must
“earn” the sales of these new type of buyers. Bill Gates said that “if your business is not on
the internet...” – that time is now but the tweak is that only those online marketers that use
the “what’s working now” marketing strategies would keep making sales while the others
would just come and go.
You should be here to stay, and so let’s quickly look at what it takes to stay and keep
profiting in today’s business online.
Skills and Strategies for Effective Online Marketing
You need to develop marketing skills in order to make massive sales online. In fact if you
learn the art and science of online marketing, you can sell “anything” in any market/ niche.
Great marketers are not born so, they are made. With the right resources, you can learn and
start applying the skills in your business. However, with the concept of funded proposal, you
can earn while you learn new marketing skills.
They realised that if they marketed other people’s products (that are general in nature and
essentially needed by their customers’ business growth/ related to the products of the
NWM) while they were still promoting their network marketing businesses, they would be
able to stay afloat, and even make good income while their NWM is picking up.
The point that I am making here is that you can start off by looking for general products for
business building that are not expensive, and needed by almost everyone starting and doing

business; promote these products to your readers in the form of recommendations when
you email them.
You can also do reviews of these products.
These resources will help you quickly learn how to attract your customers online so that
they would find you naturally and buy from you, even without you having to chase them –
they don’t buy from chasers.

Setting Up Your Own Lead
Generation Machine
Now that you have your own internet shop at www.yourownbusiness.com, it’s time to make
the website ready to play it’s role as your lead generation machine. Before your first set
visitors start trooping in, you would be setting up your opt-in box right on your blog (for
your readers to enter their email addresses, then setup your autoresponder to collect these
email addresses and
Can you imagine what it’d be like to have your
own sales generation slave working for you 24
hours every day and all year round, without you
having to interfere?
I already mentioned that online business models
provides you with the opportunity to leverage on
available tools to make your marketing efforts
self-running or keep them on auto-pilot, once you
set them up.
An autoresponder is a database
and Customer Relationship
Management System working at
the backend to store prospects’
contact details and also automate
emailing to them.
It sends out pre-scheduled
messages on your behalf.
A prospect is someone who has
entered his email address into
your opt-in form to receive your
messages
Efficiency is key if you must be a top producer - leverage on tools that allow you to "set-itand-leave-it" self-running mode so that you have time freedom while this prospecting
machine does the repetitive business of helping you build relationships with your opt-ins, as
though you were doing it real time.
I have already mentioned that people are more attracted to people than they are to a
business or product and you need to always be building relationships. A product is just a
product and nothing more. People buy because they have a need and they want to ask
questions before buying; they want to be convinced that they have purchased the best
solution for their particular situation, and not a general situation; they also want to be
convinced that the price they purchased is fair.
People are attracted to the person behind a product or business, only if that person offers
useful information about the products they offer; they are attracted to a person whose

information answers their pre-purchase questions. Because you are building a business that
transcends boundaries and time, you
need to have a system that ensures that
your business does not shut out
interested prospects when you are not
physically there. An Autoresponder is
one indispensable tool for a highly
productive and profitable online business.
Building a List of Subscribers
Research suggests that people do not buy on the first exposure to a product, even if they
got convinced the first time – they may decide to come back to your website, and t hey
could forget. It takes up to 7, and sometimes more, exposures to an offer before a person
buys a product or service.
Therefore, you need a friendly system to regularly keep You Inc. and your offer in the minds
of your prospects.
You may be wondering how you can possibly make sales from your website since there is
not a mention, yet, of your products. That is because you want to only sell to people who
have shown interest in you and opted in to become “inner circle” members, not passers-by.
By opting in, they are virtually raising their hands and saying “I’m in; I want to get more
information”.
Your list building system is your sales generation machine, and made up of:
Your contents
An opt-in form on your blog
Your autoresponder follow-up messages.
Why should you collect prospects’ information, you may ask? Collecting prospects contact
information provides you with an opportunity to follow up with them and:
56

Passion to Profits Blueprint

Further demonstrate to them the value you have in you, by bringing it to their table
when you educate them on topics that address their current pain points;
Build relationships with them through two-way communication process – when they
email you with questions, comment on your blog, and you send them quick fix Do-ItYourself tips, and inform them of the latest quality and cost-effective tools, products
and educational that would help them;
Your next task is how to build a list of interested readers or subscribers.
Here are a few things you’ll need to get started:
An autoresponder account
An opt-in form placed on your blog
A free offer to give to those who opt-in (a free, short report on a “how to” would do)
An Offer to promote (i.e. a good product or service that your target market would be
interested in)
30 minutes a day (for marketing the product)
Some written articles on your blog
The diagram below illustrates the process from building relationship and credibility, to
making sales. Simply giving away a free report won’t make you money. Your money will
come from the products you promote and your follow up emails; and if you write a report,
you can insert link in the pages, to the products (you promote) for extra income streams.
In the bonus chapter, you will learn how to source for fast moving products and how to
effectively promote them.

Chapter Activity 1: Getting An Autoresponder
Signup for an autoresponder service. Your budget would play a part in the one you
settle with. You may want to start with a low priced one and move to a higher priced
one when your business starts making money. There are many good ones in the
market and on different price points. Many of them offer trials.
o Some of the high ends are Aweber, Getresponse, iContact
o Mailchimp is free for the first thousand subscribers, however they do not
support affiliate marketing messaging via their service;
o Listwire is 100% free
o I use Imnica Mail – Great for budget business builders. it’s good quality of
service, 60 days trial and cheap at $9 monthly for up to 5,000 subscribers
o You can use any one.

Imnica Mail. It may be slightly different if you use a different autoresponder service.
Steps to create an Opt-In Form
Xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
Test it: Enter your email address into your new opt-in box and check you inbox to
find a mail from You Inc.
Chapter Activity 3: Creating Your Free Give-Away
What would you give your interested readers as incentive to join your list? This can be a
free report of 7 to 10 or more pages on “how to” information that you think many people in
your market are looking for.
Take some time to put together a FREE report;
o Examples: 10 ways to lose weight without exercising; Thin, think, think...
you’ve got skills + passion, so it’s already in you – you only need to dig out
those tips and “how to” that you want to share with your readers
Quickly write key points on the topic you chose
Start filling in on each of those key pints
You should now have your free report! Congratulations
o Convert your report to a PDF. There are many free converters out there, and
one of them that I use mostly is pdfcreator [Hyperlink the word]; Others are
DoPDF, PrimoPDF, FreePDF Convert, CutePDF

Chapter Activity 4: Creating Follow-Up Messages Your New Signups
Here are some tips to help you create relevant email series for your new signups:
Write a welcome email for your new subscribers
o Think of a topic that your target market would be interested in (how to solve
a problem, how to do a task etc). Pick a topic that you would like to share
with, or educate your new signups – get ideas from the keyword search you
did or think about one or more related problems your target customer could
be experiencing, that you have answers to.
o Write 7 key points on that topic (Why 7? Remember – “7 exposures usually
get a sale” )
o Start developing each key point, one after the other. Write as though you
were writing to advice or educate a friend on an issue
o Now you have your 7 follow-up messages for your prospects, that you can
schedule for Day 1 to Day 7 after they opt-in to your list
Load the messages into your Autoresponder and schedule them
o Create a new list for your new signups – give this a name that describes your
free book offer (Tips: Go to xxxx for detailed steps and video on setting up a
new list)
o Create a welcome email for your new signups – copy the mail you have
written out and paste into your Autoresponder
o Load the email series (Tip: Go to xxxx for steps and videos to walk you
through this)
Test to ensure it is working. Enter your own email address into your opt-in box and
check your email box to confirm it works – It should.
Tips:
Look into your email inbox for one of the emails you received after you signed up to receive a
free ebook from a website; look at the one you received from my blog before you
downloaded this ebook.

How to Create Magnetic Contents
that Pre-sell
It is said that “A compelling content is a salesman in print”. This is because it compels
browsers to become readers, pull readers into your opt-in form (they become subscribers),
and converts subscribers into buyers. All these happen without you speaking a word with
them or trying to convince them to take any of those actions. Isn’t that a better way to
make sales?
That’s called “selling without the act of selling” – the bulk of what you do is create your
contents (words) to do the marketing and sales on your behalf – and for each content you
create once and set off, it remains there forever – still marketing and pre-selling for you.
New age marketing is all about turning words to a sales army.
Because your blog via its contents are the front end, and passive marketing engine of your
business, it is important for you to understand clearly that they have a definite purpose – to
strategically and passively persuade your readers to desired take action. The desired actions
include:
Immediate desired action: You want every reader enter your opt-in list where you
have their permission to give them even more tips and how-tos and tell them about
your offers whenever you want;
Ultimate desired action: You want every reader who has opted in to your list to make
a purchase the first time, and those who have made first time purchase to make
repeat purchases.
Every business’ production process is driven by the marketing and sales system to bring in
the leads and then closes sales. In this chapter you will be learning how to use a “set-itonce-and-leave-it” system to create an automatic marketing and sales system that would
work for you all day long, 24/7 all year round.

By leveraging on simple technology and smart content writing secrets you would be
creating your own automatic 24/7-all-year-round never-tiring lead generation magnet and
your sales generation machine.
Great, compelling writing on your blog is like magically turning your physical salesman into
words that breathe. Learning how to write contents that pre-sell your readers can solve
over 50% of your marketing problems. If you can write contents that sell, then you would
have a listening audience – on your blog, on your social media channels and everywhere you
contents spread to. The most beautiful thing about putting your best writing forward is that
such contents would definitely bring in sales, and money.
Are you ready to learn how to turn your words into money?
Think of having your marketing would be done by your contents to convince and convert
your readers to prospects (opt-ins or leads) while your sales system would include your
autoresponder (loaded with scheduled emails you have pre-written) that would be at work
all day long 365 days long.
If you can acquire this skill, you would be able to write ebooks that go viral, your emails
would hold your prospects spell-bound and trigger them to happily buy your
recommendations. Isn’t that magical?
Since you now know the power of your contents in your sales
process and that it works for you 24/7 without salary, you
should do everything possible to put out only optimal
contents that are strong enough to pull in your readers into
your opt-in box where they become your leads (or prospects).
When you have them in there, they are already in your sales

funnel and you can start working them through the process of
“dating the customer”, which includes regular communication once-in-a-whilepromotional emails. Regular communications is a process that is like “getting to know you”
and builds the trust needed for them to be comfortable enough to make purchases from
you.

Below is an illustration of the sequence of activities that happen over a period of time a first
time blog visitor goes through to become a first time customer. Note that this
transformation may take several days, several exposures to your contents and offer, in the
case of a subscriber. A subscriber is a prospect because he opted in due to interest in the
value he has already experienced and wants more.

There is a skill and art required to move a reader past one stage to another. When they
become a subscriber, you need to engage them and keep their attention up till whenever
they decide to make a purchase.
The ability to write attention-grabbing and persuasive contents targeted at the needs of
your prospects will do that magic required to retain, quickly and repeatedly convince-andconvert them to customers without a bit of rejection.
This is covered in a later chapter in this book. You will be learning how to construct:
-
Magnetic headlines that compel browsers to read your contents to the end;
-
Email subject lines that compel your prospects to open and then read your

That is the magic to keep your prospects always looking forward to your next post and
email, and most of all further take desired action on your product and service
recommendations, perceiving them as “in their best interest” from a trusted adviser and
friend.
How to Write Attention-Grabbing Headlines
A headline that gets attention is essential for a high converting content. Here are the top 3
rules for creating a killer headline that will spark the interest of your blog visitors:
Make the font size larger than the regular text on the page.
Outline the single key benefit of your offer or subject
Make it provoking so your reader will want to learn more
How to Conclude with Words that Make Readers
Do What You Want
People won’t know what to do after they read your post or email, so you have to tell them.
This is known as “call to action” and is introduced at the conclusion of your content (blog
post or email).
Start your conclusion that assures your readers that they can solve their problem or perform
a certain task with the information you provided them. Promise them more free information
and tell them exactly what they have to do to get it.
After you get the interest of your blog visitor, you’ll want them to take a specific action
NOW. What would that action be? Do you want them to submit their details to subscribe to
your newsletter or tweet your post, leave a comment...? Tell them! Use Call to Action in
your blog posts and emails.

Tips for Effective Writing
You have learned how to create compelling contents that trigger your visitor to read your
contents, or your prospects to open your mails. In this section, you will learn how to make
your contents effective enough to ensure that your reader understands your message.
Writing is a form of communication, in communication there is a message (contents) and
two parties – the speaker and the listener. However, communication only occurs if the
other party actually listened. Therefore it is important to eliminate every form of “noise” in
your communication to ensure that the other party, in this case your reader, clearly
understands your contents, and demonstrates so by taking required action, with minimal or
no objections.
The best way to learn how to write is to write some, and write more and more – it’s an art
that becomes better with constant practice. If you imagine that your reader is a friend, an
imaginary friend, you should be comfortable “talking” and “writing” to that friend, after all
you know some things about them (their challenges), you have some information that
“these friends do not have” but need to solve their pains now. Why would you want to let
fear keep you from giving what you have to another?
Steps for any writing session
Do a mini research to add to the depth of what you already know about the subject;
Write your first draft in your own natural voice, write just the way you speak, no care
for any grammar or anything;
Leave the document for a while. Take a walk or go have some fun and come back to
edit and optimize it for effectiveness;
Edit it for grammatical errors and other forms of errors;
Get a second eye (a friend or colleague) to help you review and make suggestions for
improvement.

Tips for optimizing your writing
1. Keep sentences short and specific: Break long sentences into short, straight-to-thepoint statements of few words. Always proof-read your contents and rewrite
sentences that vague.
2. Keep paragraphs short: Avoid writing lengthy paragraphs; break down into chunks of
few paragraphs.
3. Use simple English: Use simple English that anyone can understand. Avoid use of
words that will send your readers to the dictionary.
4. Write in positive tones only: Where you need to state something that is only but
negative, rephrase it with a synonym that sounds positive but means the same thing.
Have a synonym checker handy whenever you write.
5. Write in active voice: For example, instead of “Do not turn the TV off...” say “Leave
the TV on”

Building Traffic to Get Found by
Customers and Search Engines
What good is a blog if no one but you knows about it? Before we delve into the topic of this
chapter, let’s do a quick review of what we have covered so far. In the previous chapters
looked at:
The 21st century customer likes to be the one that finds the product and not the
other way round;
Why you need to be the one attracting people to you, and to your business, and not
the other way round;
Using contents as your attraction tool;
Why you should build relationships with the people you attract, and how to do it
effectively and efficiently.
I also explained that well written contents are always pre-selling and marketing for a
business.
The reason why you have taken your business online is to make massive sales, not just a
few sales. There’s no doubt that to make that happen, you need to expose your offer to
large numbers of people by first exposing them to your quality contents. Massive exposure
results to massive opt-ins, and further results to massive sales and of course profits.
It is a game of numbers and in this chapter you will learn how to play it well to your
advantage.
Every business, online or offline, needs customers to know that they exist, where they are
situated and also see what they offer, in order to make sales and profit. Advertising and
marketing makes that happen.
This is same in online business.
Simply having a
www.myownbusiness.com does not guarantee that you’ll be found. No one knows your
business has arrived unless you announce it to the marketplace and create pathways to it.
The online buyers hangout in the marketplace (search portals) and if you want them to find

your blog, you have to create access roads to link up to the internet highway. This is called
building traffic to lead people to your online shop.
In this chapter you will learn how to drive massive (human and search engine) traffic to your
blog. I am going to show how how to give your contents and blog the maximum exposure
that brings in a rush of visitors to your blog.
Traffic = Sales = Profit; More Traffic = More Sales
More Visitors = More Readers = More Subscribers = More Sales
The number of sales you make is a directly proportional result of the number of subscribers
you have in your list. Ever wonder why the big dogs make so much money? They have so
much (people in their) list
Having put up a blog and contents, every activity from this point forward should be focused
at getting lots of blog visitors who may be interested in reading your contents and
subscribing to your list, which is the ultimate objective of your contents. You should ensure
that all your mediums of communication – contents, emails and traffic efforts are
interesting enough to lead people to your list.
Internet searchers are like window-shoppers but here they start searching with a specific
need in mind, and those needs are crafted around keywords. They only click a link to a
website that “is speaking with those keywords”. So, you will be learning how to “speak in
the language of your potential customer” by writing contents around the keywords your
target customers search for. Remember those keywords you derived at the early part of this
book? Those should guide the topics you write in order to increase visits to your blog.
Only well written and relevant contents can easily be found by web searchers in your niche,
and can have magnetic effect to compel readers to opt-in to your list. You can increase your
68

subscription rate by offering an incentive to opt-in (ebook, mini training, webinar etc); this
should be as good as a paid material, packed with so much value that people would feel
guilty they did not pay for it. If you do these, you would have succeeded in giving your
readers and subscribers “a sample of the kind of value deposited in You Inc” and they would
want to come for more.
Before You Start Driving Traffic to your Blog...
You must be sure that you have your house in order before you start calling the neighbours
to come for a fest. Same thing with your online business - be sure that you have all these set
before starting to drive in traffic:
An incentive to opt-in. This can be a free book, short report, software etc
Opt-in box on your sidebar
Welcome email for new sign-ups loaded into your autoresponder
Autoresponder follow-up emails loaded up
Five to ten relevant, compelling blog posts. You do not want people to come to your
blog for the first time and not find enough contents to stay long. Come out with a
bang and keep them glued! Google scores you on long-stay visitors, so crank up
those contents.
How to Increase Your Web Visibility
As I already mentioned, your focus should be on increasing your content visibility in order to
increase traffic to your blog, and ultimately increase subscriptions.
The depth of a website or blog in the search pages when someone types a phrase related to
the blog’s niche is important in determining its visibility to searchers. This is because web
searchers only stop at the first few pages of a search result. If your blog is in the 50 th page,
69

for example, it is unlikely that many people searching for what you offer will be patient
enough to get there.
Thus, you need to know the factors responsible for moving a website up in the search
engines. Contents is one of the, as you already know. Ryan Deiss in his book, “The Perpetual
Traffic Report” [link to my link of that report] highlighted the two other elements that result
in high visibility of any website.
Content + Links + Activity = PERPETUAL TRAFFIC
Content + Links – Activity = Temporary Traffic
Content – Links - Activity = INVISIBLE
Let’s quickly talk about links and (human) activities, as we have already discussed a lot about
contents.
Links (that is number and most importantly inbound links to your blog).
Human Activity can be in the form of comments on your blog, number of visitors,
duration of visitors’ stay, number of RSS subscribers, etc

How to increase the number of links pointing back to your blog
No blog should be an island on its own – that doesn’t help visibility. You should work at
having your site pointed to from as many other websites as possible. The higher the number
of inbound links you have, the higher your site will ascend up the search engine pages. This
is known as link building.
Link building is another method to increase the visibility of your posts is by buildings links to
them.
More links = Better search engine rankings = More traffic to your website
Below are some methods you can use to start your link building.
Pinging: Ping immediately after every post and comment so that search engines find
your links. Wordpress.org has an inbuilt pinger. However you should get a Ping list

Guest posting on related blogs: Find some blogs related to yours and submit a guest
blog post for them. In return, they will reward you with a link to your website. Their
readers will visit your blog If they like your post.
Posting in forums: Do a google search for forums in your niche and start looking for
topics you want to contribute to, and questions you can provide honest meaningful
answers to. Ensure that you read forum rules and regulations before joining.
Ensure to have your link in your signature, for every comment you leave. Be sure to
create a compelling profile on every forum you register at.
Forum activities have
four main benefits you should leverage on:
o Opportunity to increase your influence within your niche and build your
reputation as an expert authority through provision of quality responses and
answers to posts.
o Opportunity to build relationships and strong alliances with like-minded
people, in your niche
o Learning environment where you can pick ideas from other people’s posts or
even ask questions and get answers
o Intelligence gathering platform where you see questions people in your niche
are asking – green light for “unmet needs” and possible topics of interest you
can write on, or even ideas for a paid product you can create.
Kim Roach’s blog has a list of some forums she has compiled.
How to increase human activity on your blog

Install the comments plugins (comment luv, Yet another relater post, top


Show social proofs – it’s a natural human tendency to “follow the herd”.

o Add FB like buttons: Every time someone likes your page or post, it will
display on their walls and their friends will see it, and be curious to see your
blog, and most likely like it, as their friend did.
o Show your metrics – RSS count, tweet count, Facebook share count,
Facebook like count, stumble count etc. People, naturally, get tuned to go to
or do what they see that others did. New visitors are more likely to stay and
read your posts if they get a proof that others are reading it too.

Add social media share plugin (sociable, share this, tweet meme, sexy book marks)

Build an army of loyal readers. Put on your creative hats here, and be innovative on
how to keep your readers loyal and always looking forward to your posts:
o Hold contests and offer rewards
o Acknowledge and offer gifts to top commentators etc
o Offer free services, free books, free software etc. Put some innovation here,
and come up with what you can offer, based on your skill sets. I have seen
some bloggers offer free blog reviews for their readers – that is just an
example.

Increase number of visits on your blog:
o Tweeting about every new blog posts you make will drive your twitter
followers to visit your blog and read your posts
o Encourage your followers to retweet your posts. You can add “Pls RT” at the
end of your tweets. Imagine how many free advertisements you could get if,
for example 10 people retweet a post, and 10 friends of those 10, and 10
friends of the ten friends retweet your post. That is free 1000 exposures (10 X
10 X 10); imagine again if 1% - 3% of those clicked your link. That is 30 free
visitors. That’s also the same way some of these free visitors could earn you
sales. Twitter is a viral marketing tool – all you need to do is add lots of new
flowers daily.
o Encourage your blog readers to retweet your posts. You may want to end
your posts by asking for retweets, if they like the post.

o Get social media traffic. Update your Facebook and Myspace status with
snippets about each blog posts you make. Do this also for your other social
media platforms
o Social bookmarking sites: Digg, Stumbleupon, Delicious etc. Submit your blog
posts as well as the home page or newest blog of places you comment on, to
social bookmarking sites using OnlyWire. OnlyWire automates submissions to

Every business (whether service or product oriented) has a production cycle which outputs

Let's look at the Internet Marketing Business. The production cycle is: Produce Content Produce Traffic [to the content] - Convert Traffic to Sales/ cash [aka Monetize traffic].
In other words, your job in your business is to produce (content, traffic, sales). Looking at
these 3 tasks, traffic [to your site and your optin] is the most critical and determines the
final outcome of cashing out. Therefore spend most part on traffic to your quality contents.
That is where the money is. If in a day you work 3 hours in your business, I suggest that you
spend 60-80% of your time generating traffic.
It would help you to know ahead the volume of traffic that would mean cash for you, so that
you are not just working amiss to find out at the end of the month that you did not make
enough sales or any, although you had trickles of traffic. Now, how much traffic is enough?
In the PDF report, Black Book: "What is 'very serious' traffic? On the low end, it is whatever
amount of daily targeted traffic you need to make a living, pay your bills, and be
independent. In some niches it is 4500 unique and highly targeted visitors a day. In other
niches, it is 500… Others it is 100,000+ unique and targeted visits a day. It all depends on
your niche, what you sell, and how much traffic you need to make your financial goal for
your site(s)".
Traffic = Attention = Authority = Cash

We can break down the kinds of traffic you need into 2:
-
Number of Unique Visitors [to your blog],
-
number of opt-ins.
Who is a lead? A lead is not someone that you are just telling about your business or
prospecting - make no mistake about it. A lead is anyone that has joined your opt-in list by
entering his name and email address into your blog's opt-in box in exchange for to your free
book (or free report, free software etc) and/ or updates from you.
You need to have a traffic target that you are working towards. How much traffic can
possibly give you a good sales volume that would produce that profit you need to make a
living - part time or full time, depending on your workplan. The objective of this post is to
give you a working guide that you can quickly go to work with everyday.
- Why you should get up to 5-10 optins (prospects) daily and how you can, for free: 90 Days
(Action plan) to $1k per month ---to get 5-10 prospects daily, u need to have ur blog visited
and read by at least 50 people daily
The underlying principle that this post will teach is that Massive, consistent Traffic =
Massive CA$H and the process to get there is: Create content or add ===> promote content
[url]==>Relate with & engage your list (CRM) - engage by using the consulting approach ie
research pecuiliar needs of ur target market and then write them articles on solutions to
those needs - articles they can use to help themselves thro and those they can use to
making pdt/servce buying decisions - when you provide these kind of info they will see u as
a consultant, an authority on that subject matter, and come to you for further guidnace/
recommendations, some of which are ur affiliate pdts or biz opportunities. This (solution
provisioning via content creation) is your business. Your business opportunity company is
not your business - you did not join them (as an employee) but you started your own
business to MARKET & SELL their products/ services.

So, Everyday you should work your business - marketing. However, you would be using
attraction marketing strategies here to daily (i) sell value (useful contents) to your prospects
so they can see you as the "go-to person" for advise on their bsuienss (ii) promoting your
contents so that more people can see and read it. Always be PROMOTING (your content not business opportunity or affiliate products) in the front end - when they read from you,
they will know you, trust you and invite others to read your contents (free marketing there).
You made an investment (money) before you got that business, right? And you wanted to
make money from that investment right? (Of course that is the main reasons people setup
busineses - profit). Now you need to have the right mindset to achieve success - business

How Much Monthly Income Are You Expecting Online?
How much would you be expecting your business to return monthly?
Why do we need to talk about income in a chapter that is about traffic? Isn’t it obvious that
because massive traffic results in massive sales, how much work (traffic) you need to
generate will be determined by how much money you want to make. If you set a target for
how much you need and want to make monthly, then you should use that to determine
how many products you need to sell to make that amount of profit. The sales target would
determine how big or small the traffic you need to work at getting.

One of the reasons why a lot of small home businesses fail is poor record keeping. Many
small businesses fail to keep good record of their actual expenses and do not set income
goals for their businesses, sometimes because they consider their investment not big
enough risk to require such “extra miles”. Another reason for poor record keeping by small
home business owners is because they have a fall back – their J.O.B.S – in case the business
fails to deliver. Is that not a failure mindset?
Failing to plan is planning to fail.
It is important to start with a mindset that your business should always make income and
should break even within 90 days or less, and be self-sufficient so that future reinvestments
(in the form of trainings, product purchases etc) would come from profit generated, rather
than from your pocket or salary from job.
Having a forward plan of the exact amount you want to generate monthly, being aware of
the exact amount you have invested into the investment is a good driver to push you to
work daily on income generating activities for your business, so that the business can start
paying you income monthly.
Here’s a quick guide to help you set your monthly income target. Take the next 90 days –
with the amount of time that you can put into your business daily, how much is realistic for
you to earn? Write it down and break that down to daily
income goals so that you can measure it against your
daily work input.
Assuming you need to earn $1000 every month, that
would be $250 weekly or $50 per day on average. We
The amount of money your business
returns to you daily, and monthly, is
proportional to the consistency and
amount of work (your DMO) that
you put into it. There’s no magic
about it. Garbage In, Garbage Out!
will focus on monthly because your business should be
paying you for your work input monthly (just like salary),
whether you are in it full time or part time.
Your business is like a plant, which
when you water daily would grow
you a money tree. So ensure to
water your "seed money” DAILY so
you will harvest big "money fruits"
monthly.

Setting Your Traffic (Leads/ Prospects) Goals
In the previous section, you have set targets for your monthly income and target for the
sales required to make that happen. In this section, you will be determining how much
traffic you needed to make the volume of sales required to realize your monthly target
month.
Average conversion rate is 2-3%. That is of the traffic to your blog, 2-3% are likely to optin
to ur list, and about 2-3% of the optins would buy something from you every month. That
means assuming 100 people visit and read your blog contents daily, it implies that about 2
are likely to optin to your list in exchange for your freebie, and you are likely to make 1 sale
every month. I am not sure that is the kind of money that you are looking for. This level of
sales monthly won't cut it for you. You need massive web traffic to get a significant sale and
profit.
So, what you need to do to make good money is to get MASSIVE traffic so that you can
make increased sales. It's a game of numbers here. More traffic, More Sales; More Sales,
More Income.
How much traffic is enough traffic? I would ask you here - how much money is enough
money? I am such you would say "As much as possibly can get". Now you know "as much
traffic as possibly can get". You got into business to make money - you should work towards
making a lot of it, not some to get by. If you wanted some money to get by, you should be in
a J.O.B.
To help you work out how much traffic would get to your income target, look at this. David
Wood said in a webinar that his mentor taught him that the secret of every 5 Figure earner
82

is that they target and achieve 30 prospects everyday, and that anyone can achieve 5
Figures monthly from the next 90 days if they can get 30 prospects daily. David went
further to say that once he heard this secret and started getting at least 30 prospects a day,
his income shot up like magic and he went on to become the number one guy in his
business and has remained there ever since.
Now you know that GENERATING TRAFFIC is your main business, and of course converting it
to sales is next. I suggest you spend 80% of your time generating traffic daily - that is your
production cycle (generate traffic=> close sales). Marketing and content writing should be
20% of your quality time so that you can produce optins necessary to make sales for you to
make the kind of money you need to live your dream life.
I broke this down and these are what I got:
Need 30 optins daily
Can get 30 optins daily if you get 1500 readers on your blog everyday
If you have 1,500 readers daily, at least 2% (30) will optin to your list daily
If you get 30 optins daily, you will sell about 3 products every 5 days and about 16
products every month
**Note that prospects are people who have filled your opt-in form and are now in your list.
That is the breakdown, work the figures (projected earnings) using the profit margins for
your own products you sell and see how it adds up. You should see that knowing this and
achieving it would guarantee you earn 4 figures monthly consistently and progress to 5. The
83

only caveat here is that you must have quality contents and your website "About Me" page
brands you as an authority.
Now work back to how much do you want to start earning from next month (30 days time)
and how many of each products would need to be sold to give you that income. That is the
minimum number of monthly sales you require. Now multiply that number by 98% - what
you get is the That is the minimum number of blog readers or traffic you need to target
monthly. Now look at your analytics tool and see where you currently are at your weekly
and monthly traffic and you should now know how much more traffic you need to generate.
Now, we need to set a goal for your traffic...
-We need to set a traffic target - on a daily basis here: You need to know how many
prospects daily are needed to achieve your income goals.
-So, we said $1000 monthly earning goal. Assuming that we target to make sales only
from one of your funded proposals (not your primary business now cos we are looking at
new optins and low end offers in your pdt line). Now we would take a hypothetic product
price here for the purpose of illustration. Ensure that you promote only lowest end offers to
your new optins who just entered your sales funnel (link to article on sales funnel and
funded proposals) - assume that product or service is the magnetic sponsoring book or
renegade marketer book [HTML to their links] - let's take one here Magnetic Sponsoring
-Now, magnetic sponsoring costs approximately $40 (39.95 exact) and this gives us 25
sales a month, and that would be about 1 book per day or 5-7 every week. Now you know
84

what to be measuring your achievement against. Note that this is not the number of readers
- cos only 2-10% readers would optin to ur mailing list/funnel. I am talking of the number of
optins daily. I hope you track these numbers - read my article on how to track / measure/
analyse your blog performance to help you do this
-Next you need to have an idea of how many fresh new traffic/ prospects need to come
in to ur funnel everyday for u to make 1 sale of MS per day. We would be using the 2-3%
conversion fact here, but sticking to the lower region 2%. Work this out and you'll get 2% of
50new prospects gives 1 sale everyday. That means 350 new blog page views or clicks &
your referal links weekly (7days), 700 in 2 weeks and 1,400 page views/ link clicks every
month. To achieve your monthly target, you must be consitstent in your "prospect farming
system" - DAily work it - non-stop - that is the only work in the Net-WORK marketing
business you started. Work those numbers. Scary eh? Never mind, consistency would get
you there. Now you are sweating, right? and asking yourself - "where will I find them"?
What this means is that you need to expand your traffic sources coast - only 1 or 2 sources
cannot do it for you. [Read my article on how to where to find new prospects - where do
they hang out? Go there and farm them out/ harvest them - work your prospect harvesting
machine - my article inspired by Kim Roache's traffic articles/ where to get traffic from]
-Let me ask you, are you getting up to this 30 new prospects (out of your blog visitors)
opting in daily? In order to focus on the topic of today, we would not delve into where nd
how to get this much and more traffic - all that is covered in my post titled "xxxx". You can
also get copies of these free books "Google Switch" and "Perpetual Traffic Report" and
implement the strategies taught there. So to get about 30-50 optins daily into your funnel,
you need to ramp up your blog traffic (expand where they come from, expand where u
advertise ur blog) so that you have up to 1000 readers daily visiting. When that happens, u
get about 3-5% OR 30-50 prospects/ leads opting into your funnel daily (ie assuming u have
quality contents and "good-enough-to-be-sold-product" (ebook or free report or blueprint
etc) ethical bribe in exchange for their email addresses. And that is also assuming that you
have a rock solid "About You" page that sells You Inc as a brand that your target customers

would brag about associating with/ or meeting etc - does your "About Me/ You Inc Sales
Page" touch on the following points - that u were at the exact place (well described) that ur
readers are currently, how you found a solution, how you escaped/ solved the problem,
how you have become successful (good to show pics/ proofs of financial earnings OR social
proofs / testimonials of people you have helped to success) and why you are the best "goto-person' to get help from now.
BTW, I listened to a David Wood training call where he shared how he leraned from his
mentor that all tp earners generate 30 prospects/ leads daily - and that is the secret of their
income. David said that this secret was what changed his whole biz mindset and drove him
to consistently become a top earner in his companies.
**write down/ List the daily actions that would get you there. This is your DMO - read my
detailed post on setting your DMO. List (i) "what actions daily would get massive traffic to
your blog" (ii) what actions would u do daily to ensure that u get ideas for fresh contents
and not run dry - this is ur personal development plan [see my post on MLM PDP]. Let me
let you in on a secret - if you constantly seek to develop yourself in various areas for your
own use/ implementation (marketing, sales/ prospect or leads conversion, attraction
marketing, seo blogging, copywritting, email marketing, how to use automation tools etc) once you read ==>implementpractice / take action on what you read, you will always have
something new to teach these to your audience/ followers/ fans and never run out of ideas
for content. The mindset is "teaching" what is working for you (bringing you lots of traffic
and and making you lots of money via sales).
Now, if you are into free lead generation strategies, or you are building on a budget, you
should be working your content funnel. This works too. I once listened to one of the

Industry's top earner, all serial number 1 in his company (3 years running), say that 90% of
his leads come from free traffic via his blog contents.
-Remember that in this industry, DMO and automation would get you results 10-100X
faster than manually - so invest in automation tools (such as for autoresponders (and also
pre-loading emails in) & your social media updates etc - read my post on Social media and
autoresponder/ email marketing to get useful information on this)
First, you need to create useful contents (they can use by themselves) that would enlighten
them about causes and solutions that work for their problem - e.g contentents that address
their pain points, teach them how to grow their business. You should put so much quality
into your free reports such that when your readers optin, they'd wonder why you did not
charge for it. Your blog contents and follow up contents should equally wow them and make
them want to bookmark your site as a first level Go-To resource in your niche. Daniel in the
black book said: Aim to be "the Coca-Cola of your niche" Your content writing goal should be
just like Coca Cola's "To be a first level Go-To blog of your niche". How to do that? Provide
useful information, provide help guides etc. I will be writing posts that will guide you on how
to increase your web attention.
Summary, now you see that 5-10 page views per day will not get you 5-10 leads/ day; 5-10
page views a day wont cut it, but it's a starting point - you now know that you need to target
50 new people everyday in order to make at least $1000 monthly. Why did I say at least?
Because you could be making repeat sales month after month, on other pdts down ur sales
funnel as ur prospects setup and grow their biz, riding their business journey with u as their
"secret" coach or mentor or guide. And some others not in that 2% may make purchases at
other points when they can afford to, or when they have trusted you enough to buy from
you. Now your list is growing, your influence is increasing in ur niche as well as your social
proofs 9from those whose bizs are growing (thanks to ur advice), u would be getting evn
more referals/ traffic from word of mouth and retweets etc (no sweat traffic), and more

sales too. And now ur biz is on auto-pilot, and u gradually increase incomes from being a 4
figure earner to 5 fig, to 6, to seven....
***What we learned from this post is that one of the essentials skills that any professional
(online) marketer is traffic building - and link building - to their blogs. This is because "what
use is a beautiful piece of post with the best copywriting skills built in, if no one or few
people see(s) it. What you are selling is not the words in the content but the offers burried
within the valuable contents as complimentary to ur readers (just like "if u bought needle,
you could need a new thread" so I might as well stock thread even though I sell needle). This
brings me to a story about some company that sells manual vegetable processors (multiple
functopn types - slicers, cutters, citrus squeezers) and the staff of this coy just were at this
trade fair "working" on the vegetables and fruits - slicing, making shapes etc in some
amazing speeds and gradually people gathered, especially women to watch - and ask "how
much, I want 1, 2 etc" - So that is ur job - teach online business starting and growing skills because a lot of people want to start but are afraid of failing for lack of know-how; some are
already in it but looking for additional information and knowlege to make more money. So,
you just keep churning out those contents and taking them to where massive amounts of
people will see them - so that those who need will buy. The more the number of new people
that see ur content, the more sales u will make.
To help you illustrate the whole idea of this post with a real live example, I thought to share
the traffic journey of an A-List blogger, Yaro Starak, from a post on his blog [hyperlink his
site "the enterpreneur's journey]: "
My blog had over 1,000 RSS subscribers when I launched my list, and roughly 500 to 1,000
unique visitors dropping by each day as well. This translated into 10 to 20 newsletter optins a day, which I considered pretty good, though at the time I hadn’t optimized the opt-in
area of my blog with good copy or video like I have today.

I continued to write my blog posts and started to write one email newsletter a week as well.
Slowly but surely my list grew. At the start of 2007, about a year later after adding the
newsletter to my blog, I had 3,000 email subscribers. It was a good start, and I had a
platform to grow my business from".

How to Convert Your Blog’s
Visitors to Cash
What do you do with your blog visitors, readers and subscribers?
The only way to make money online is by converting the traffic you attract to your blog and
opt-in list to buying customers. This chapter is about equipping
you with effective conversion skills that top earners today are
using.
In a previous chapter I laid out the behaviour of today’s buyers,
Remember: “People love to buy,
but they hate to feel like they’ve
been sold” ~ - Jeffrey Gitomer
to enable you understand the essence of Attraction Marketing
which beginners in online marketing may view as too subtle. That is the sales strategy of top
earners.
Before you proceed on this chapter, I urge you to review again, the chapter on “How the
21st Century Customers Buy”, with emphasis on the following sections. Simply click on the
hyperlinked topics to quickly go, and read the topic again.

5 stages of results-oriented sales engagement
Making Sales through Follow Up
This is where you put to use the email addresses of subscribers that you captured via your
blog’s opt-in form. With this, you send them follow up emails containing useful contents
that they can really use and see results. Sometimes, you would send promotional emails to
them, making honest recommendation of products and / or services that would add value to
them.

This is known as follow-up marketing, email marketing or permission marketing, and is a
proven but subtle method that top marketers use to make sales while communicating and
building relationships with the readers who have opted in to become members of their
inner circles.
When readers enter their email addresses to enter your opt-in form, they are literally saying
“I give you permission to contact me with tips and interesting product news, anytime you
like”. It’s just like a new friend saying “here’s the key to my apartment - feel free to visit
whenever you want”.
There’s no question that they also mean that you must not abuse that privilege. Don’t spam
them with salesy messages – learn and practice how to promote products without being
salesy, else they’ll unsubscribe from your list.
You may have heard many times that the money is in the list. However, the truth is that a
list is only but a list of names and emails. The real money is in the follow-up (relationship)
with the list. This is because research suggests that a sale is usually closed with about seven
or more contacts with a prospect. That is why you need to create a series of follow up
messages to your subscribers.
How to build solid relationships with your subscribers
Remember in the previous section you created a series of follow-up emails to your new
subscribers. That is because you want to start building a relationship with them by sending
them follow up emails, after they signed into your list. You may create a short report and
series of seven to ten messages to be mailed to people who sign up to receive your free
report. You need an autoresponder to do this efficiently. You can write all messages, load in
your autoresponder and schedule them to send out from Day 1 after a prospect signs up to
the seventh day.
91

Passion to Profits Blueprint
Brought to you by Stella Anokam™ - Strategic Marketing Tips for the Magnetic Entrepreneur
In addition to that, you also need to send regular messages to them, in order to increase
exposure to your subtle, friendly marketing promotions which you do as recommendations
to them necessary for their business and income growth.
As your communication with them increases, they’ll get to know you better through every
single email. This also creates bond, trust and intimacy between you and them, and the trust
necessary to break the inhibitions or objections to purchasing from you. Remember, we said
that people would buy from people they know, like and trust.
Over time, they would buy when you recommend because they believe that you are
suggesting the best product or service in their best interest, and they would not be
suspicious.
What should your emails be about? These are some of the things you should update your
subscribers about:
Your blog updates;
Any news that may be of use interest to them. You can win their heart when they
can use your information to alleviate their current challenges and solve a problem;
Personals: They would also be interested to know more about you and how your day
went – just like friends do;
Promotional contents recommending useful and relevant products and services that
you can earn commissions from;
Free ebooks, reports etc
Any other information that you believe will benefit them. It’s all about them – so
always make it count in your dealings with readers and subscribers.
Email conversion killers to avoid
If you have done so much to build your list, you should do whatever it takes to keep them.
Yes, the money is in the list, but only the converted list. Of what use is a list if you don’t
successfully convert them to buyers. Watch out for some red flags that can lower your
92

conversion rates and sometimes trigger unsubscriptions. Ignoring the tips below would rob
you of the sales.
Too many promotions, very little relevance: The key here is moderation. Be a
minimalist at scheduling sales promotions. Space out promotional messages. You can
blend in sales messages of products that highly benefit them, say, once or twice a
month and it'd be a good mix with several other content-rich, value-driven email
messages they get from you within the month. Even when you want them to buy
from you, your email should be newsworthy NOT overtly promotional.
Tip: Balance the frequency of your promotional emails versus your informational
messages by doing promotions 20% of the time, every month so that 80% of the
time you are providing only relevant educational and entertaining contents.
Over-stuffing sales messages in 80% emails: Once again balance and moderation
counts. Try to keep content emails light on promotional messages. Be strategic in the
words you use to recommend products to your list. You don’t want to come across
as selfish; remember it’s all about them, and they buy when they don’t smell any act
of selling but rather caring about their interest. Position yourself as their friend and
not just a marketer who always throws "buy this, that" at them. If you do that, they
will unsubscribe. Be personal with them.
Call to Action: Here’s a tip for getting the sale via promotional emails - do more than
simply placing an affiliate link in an email and sending off to your subscribers. If you
want them to actually buy from you, say so but do that with a call to action within a
content-rich, newsworthy email.
Selfishness: Do not treat your subscribers as a number or mere “money-making
objects”. Do not address “everyone” in your emails. Write for an audience of one
person. Act like you are writing to a friend. Personalize your emails by using the
words "you" and "your". This will keep your emails focused, friendly and
personalized. You may sometimes share exciting personal experiences that your
subscribers can learn one or two things from.

Errors: Editing is the most important step before hitting the send button. Subscribers
may not give you a second chance. Spelling errors, poor punctuation and poor
grammar kill your online brand and credibility. Always read your emails out loud. If
your email does not flow off the tongue, rewrite it until it does. Only when you are
convinced that your content is perfect should you hit the send button.
An effective, non-salesy way to convert subscribers to buyers
The relevance and quality of the contents of your follow-up emails is what stands between
you and them saying “yes”. Therefore you have to provide valuable content that gets your
subscribers to TRUST you.
With that relevant and valuable information, you can bring in product and service
recommendations that directly relate to the information that you have provided, mainly
highlighting the BENEFITS (NOT features) of those products and services.
Two Sure-fire Steps to Convert Subscribers to Paying Customers
Jimmy D. Brown [hyperlink name to a pdt I have affil to], one of the most successful email
marketing experts describes the two steps (provide-point) he uses to get his subscribers to
take the action he desires in emails to them such as: buying a product or service through an
affiliate link or saying "yes" to whatever offer inside the content.

TIPS:
-
In writing the benefits of your recommended products or services, focus on
describing how the products can make things easier and more enjoyable for people
who purchase them.
-
Refrain from describing or listing the features which are usually physical – the
customer is only interested in “what will the features do for ME”, “what are the
benefits of the features”, “what are the benefits of the benefits, and the benefits of
...”
How to write emails that get read all the time
Would it surprise you to know that not all emails get read? Some do not even make their
journey past the spam folders of target recipients. Knowing why some mails do not get read
will help you to avoid them and write to be read.
Below are some tips to help you optimize your emails for deliverability and attention.
1. Low Deliverability Level: This is due to high spam rating on a mail, causing it to land
in the spam folder: If you doubt this, check your spam or bulk mail folder and count
the number of mails in there, some of which are from newsletters you have
subscribed to, not spammers.
The sender did not intend to deliver them into your spam folder. I am sure he is
believes you have read his email. This can also happen to you if you do not run spam
check on your messages and tweak them before sending out to your subscribers.
You can increase deliverability in two ways:
o Running spam checks on your emails before hitting send. Here’s a free
tool http://spamcheck.sitesell.com/ you can use to check your emails for
triggers that could possibly get it rejected by Internet Service
Providers (ISPs) and email providers filters.
95

Passion to Profits Blueprint
Brought to you by Stella Anokam™ - Strategic Marketing Tips for the Magnetic Entrepreneur
o Requesting your subscribers to white-list your email address if they
landed in their spam folder.
2. Luck: People can get overwhelmed by full inboxes – several marketers mails daily
competing for the attention of a single person! At some time, they may want to
unclutter their emails by deleting many messages without even reading any. If you
are unlucky, your email could be one of them. If they are not read, obviously the
recipient would not take any of the actions you requested of them. See another
reason why you need to always be emailing?
3. Poor Subject Line: People do not read all mails they receive in their inboxes. The
average list subscriber receives over 300 emails per week. Apart from your list, they
are subscribed to over 10 other marketers’ blogs. The quantity of emails can be
overwhelming and so people tend to quickly scan email subject lines. When they do
this, the first thing they see are four or five words in the subject line. Only the ones
with magnetic, compelling subject lines get lucky enough to be read..
If you have made efforts to have your mails fly past the spam folder, got lucky it was
not deleted, wouldn’t you have done just one more step to get them read? You
should always optimise your emails by writing attention-grabbing headlines. To get
your reader glued to your message and have them read-it-all-to-the-end and take
your desired action, you need to learn how to use “magic words” scientifically
proven to psychological effect on people, to cause them to buy happily.

First you are going to set a monthly income goal – I prefer to call it “Monthly Income
Promise”, and you’ll start by filling in the following blanks.
One tip here, if your goals or promise are not Big, Hairy and Audacious, you are not likely to
achieve it. This is because the human mind “hates” huge challenges and that triggers it to
action, to prove that “yes, it can”.

So, I’ll say further challenge you “I dare you to make $__________ every month” Prove
me wrong – I’d love to hear it (send me a mail or leave me a comment on my blog).
MY INTERNET MARKETING PROMISE SHEET
-
PROMISE # 1: I promise myself, and my loved ones, to make $________ monthly from
my online business and I’ll take action DAILY on the lessons I learn.
-
I promise to set aside ___________ hours every day to work at achieving my promised
income
-
I have got the commitment of ____________________(NAME) as my accountability
partner in this journey, and I promise to make my promise sheet available to him/her
and would account my time input and monthly earnings to him/her, starting from the
next 30 days
-
I promise to review my monthly achievements and write down additional “To Dos” to
help me meet that income promise
-
I promise to dedicate every ________AM/PM on Fridays only for reading emails of
websites I subscribed to.
I bet you, all these information are cool and nice BUT are utterly useless UNLESS you put
them to use. So, take MASSIVE action and you’ll be on your way to profit!
Now, let’s come up with a plan of action to generate that income. I’ll use a random figure
here so you should replace it with yours.
Your Personal 30 Days Zero to Profits Challenge
**Note:
-
Replace with your income goal; set a goal higher than what you currently generate but
big enough to “scare” your mind to action

read emails that you subscribed to – you need all the FOCUS you can get here.
MONTH 1
The steps here are numbered so that you can tick off anyone after completion. Please do
the following activities for one product at a time. Write down your targets in a notepad,
word processor or spreadsheet – whichever is most comfortable to you. You may even want
to use Google Docs, if you like.
1. Register an account with the following affiliate systems (you get their Attraction
Marketing Books too): RNM, Magnetic Sponsoring
a) These are Internet Marketing Information and Education products
2. Select products
a) Pick 3 products from within Magnetic Sponsoring system
b) Pick 3 products from within the Renegade Network Marketing system
c) You now have a TOTAL OF 6 PRODUCTS
3. Register an account with ClickBank [fix link here]
4. Select Clickbank Products
a) Go to the Clickbank Market Place
b) Pick 3 product categories from an area you are passionate about examples:
health, fitness, gardening, etc – whatever area you are passionate about,
have talents, knowledge, skills and abilities in. You can easily write and talk
about what you know and won’t get tired of it, than what you would need to
read about, understand and talk or write about.)
c) Pick 3 products from each category – making a TOTAL OF 9 CLICKBANK
PRODUCTS
5. You now have a TOTAL OF 12 PRODUCTS to promote (more products equal more
streams of income, from meeting needs of diverse customers)
6. Group the 12 products into 4, so that you have 3 in each group (You’ll promote 3 per
week)

7. Label them as Week 1, Week 2, Week 3, and Week 4. Do this in a notepad. Now, you’d
promote the 12 products in 1 months, doing 3 per week.
a) What you are doing here is “think big, start small” and applying F.O.C.U.S
(remember: Focus On One Course Until Successful). As you increase in your
confidence and skills in this evidenced by the income you achieve, you can
add more products.
8. Promote the products via any / all of the following methods:
a) Honest product reviews to your subscribers;
b) Recommend as a solution, within an article you email to your subscribers;
c) Write product reviews in a Web 2.0 property (such as Squidoo,
Wordpress.com, Weebly, Blogger etc – Create an account in these places and
start writing)
d) Write an article in a Web 2.0 property, on a topic that your product can
provide a solution to, then conclude with recommendation to your product
and link;
e) Submit an article in an article directory, on a subject that your product can
provide a solution to, and then use the resource box to point readers to your
Web 2.0 property or blog page which has information on the recommended
product and link. Article directories do not allow links to affiliate products.
f) Ensure to always ping your posts and articles immediately after writing. You
can use http://pingoat.net/ and http://www.pingler.com/
g) Social-bookmark each article or post after writing (Some social bookmarking
sites you can use are: Stumbleupon, Digg, Delicious and Reddit.

Signup to any of these two services, www.Onlywire.com or
www.SocialBookmarker.com,
to
help
you
automate
social
bookmarking. These services come with over 50 social bookmarking
sites you can submit to.
9. Set your monthly DOLLAR expected income per product.
(Tip: You should set a Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Realistic, Time-bound target
[SMART] example could be $5 daily or less or more; remember to be realistic here. You

can increase your target after you have achieved your monthly target serially for 2
months)
a) Set profit target: Do this, and write down, for each of the 12 products.

Weekly Profit: Let’s assume you are promoting a Clickbank product
that costs $20 and there’s a 50% commission. That means you make
$10 on each sale. Now, assuming you could realistically make 5 sales
weekly, that’d be $50 profit or commission weekly for you. Work this
out on each of your actual 12 products, and write down that: I will sell
___[number] of ___[product name] weekly to make $___ every week.

Since there are 4 weeks in a month, multiply that figure by 4. That is
your monthly income expectation, and PROMISE  Now, taking our
previous example, you’d be expecting $200 weekly (that is 4 x $50);
b) Traffic Needed: Next you need to know how much traffic can give you need
to make that much profit.

Let’s take the $10 profit example again, and working on per-product
basis. Now we arrived at 5 product sales weekly and that would be
about 1 product sale daily. (Again, this is an example – do this with
your actual per-product profit expectation)
c) You should now be determining how much traffic you need to make that
number of sales, so that you know what amount of work to put in.

Note that if you would sell 1 product (just an example) daily, you
need way more than 1 person to visit your website everyday because
not everyone buys the first time they are exposed to an offer.
According to market research, on average only less than 3% website
visitors click links and less than 3% of those that click the sales link
ultimately buy.

To get an idea of your traffic needs, let’s work with 100% of the
number of sales you target to sell daily. For example, if you plan to
sell 1 item daily. Let’s assume 1% conversion from browsers to clicks,
103

Passion to Profits Blueprint
Brought to you by Stella Anokam™ - Strategic Marketing Tips for the Magnetic Entrepreneur
and also 1% from clicks to buyers. So, let’s work out your traffic needs
below.

If 1 sale is from only 1% of people who read your contents
(containing link to your offer) on first exposure, how many is
that 1%. Let’s do some math again. 1% of 100 is 1 (buyers). So
we have for every 100 readers you expose your offer to, 1 is
likely to buy. Do not fuss over the other 99% who do not buy,
they will at their own time – that is why you need to get their
contacts (via opt-in) so that you can keep exposing them to
your contents and offers repeatedly until they build enough
confidence and trust (in you) to buy from you. Get more traffic
and more opt-ins so you can have more people see your
offers – that’s the secret.

What does all this mean? It simply means that for you to
make 1 sale, you need to expose your contents to 100 people.
Same principle, expose it to 200 to make 2 sales, 300 to make
3 sales... That is, targeting a 1% conversion.
IMPORTANT POINTS TO NOTE:

You’ll expose your offers to the people in your list. That means you
have to constantly increase your value via quality posts at the front
end (your blog, article directories, forums etc) in order to attract lots
of people into your opt-n list.

Now you see why they say “the money is in the list” and not made at
the front end (your blog). Remember, we covered in the previous
chapters why you should not expose your offers to strangers because
people buy from those they know and built a relationship with. The
money is made at the back-end (from the people in your
autoresponder list).

Just to set your expectations – the conversion rates you will achieve
at the beginning would be very low. That should not discourage you
104

Brought to you by Stella Anokam™ - Strategic Marketing Tips for the Magnetic Entrepreneur
as you’ll get better results and more sales as you keep at driving
traffic to your blog and opt-in form.
10. Drive traffic to your blog daily. Set aside about 1 to 2 hours daily to generate traffic to
your blogs. You may need to review again the traffic and conversion tips in the previous
chapters.
11. Monitor and Track Visits and Clicks:
a) Track your clicks: You need a way to know how many clicks you are getting.
Bit.ly is a free online service you can use to monitor and track how many
people are clicking on each of your affiliate product links. It also shortens
your long, ugly affiliate URLs to pretty short ones that you can use in your
contents. It’s better to keep things simple now – as you grow in skills and
business, you may want to learn how to use other complex tracking tools.
b) Track number of visitors: Bit.ly only tracks number of people that click a link
within contents but not the number of visitors to the content page. I’m sure
you’d like to know the number of visitors to your page (including the ones
that do not click links). Statpress is a Wordpress plugin that tracks the
number of visitors to your Wordpress blog. You can get it by searching the
Wordpress.org website. You’ll learn here also how to use social media
blogging platforms (Web 2.0 properties) to also promote your offers. Those
have inbuilt tracking tools to monitor your visitors.
c) Track Sales – you can do this by checking from your affiliate back office
MONTHS 2-3:
Just rinse and repeat the above 11 steps.
FROM MONTH 5
Take any of these models:

Promote 4 new products monthly (1 weekly); OR
105


Promote 1 new product weekly (i.e. 4 monthly)
At this point, yow should have become better at doing this and getting closer to your traffic
and income goals. It’s a good idea to increase any goal you achieve or exceed thrice
consecutively.
I’d love to know how your business and income are doing. I have dedicated a page for you
to share with me how this is working for you and the twists and innovation you have added
to make it work better. [embed blog page for this freebokk under the sales page].

Builders in Any Market
The basics of building a business and marketing products, no matter what you sell, is the
same and so the information needs of business builders are generally the same. They want
to learn how to get more customers and how to close sales.
Why am I talking about business builders here? Now, two kinds of people would be on your
blog looking for information. They are the ones who want to get more information to help
them decide on best product to purchase for their own use. Another category are those
who are looking to build a business in the market that you are in.
Remember we mentioned the importance of diversification in order to create multiple
streams of income. To do that you have to serve the needs of sub-markets within your
broad market, and business builders are in one such sub-market.
They want to know how to also start their own business online like you did. They want to
know what books, training, resources and tools will be needed. You are in the best position
to guide them, and you can do that through your posts and articles – write how tos and
success tips based on your experience and what you read about. What new tools did you
just discover? What steps did you take to setup your blog? So many help topics... share and
write them for this particular audience.
Now, how do you make money from doing this?
You’ll be plugging into affiliate systems that offer business building education and
information products, so that you can recommend related products within your write-ups.
Below are two of the best systems that have general educational products you can also plug
in to your portfolio and start promoting to your list.
