Cassellholme is an accredited Long-Term Care home dedicated in providing high quality services to clients requiring long-term care whether they are in our Home or other community homes. The North

East Behavioural Supports Ontario (BSO) Action Plan has created an integrated and coordinated system of care for adults with complex needs due to responsive behaviours as a result of mental health problems, dementia, and addictions. Cassellholme has been selected to participate in this program and is now recruiting for the following full-time positions:

BSO Clinical Coach (2 Full-time)

Under the direction of the Director of Clinical Services, the focus of the Behavioural Support

Coach is to assist staff to develop and implement a plan of care that addresses residents with responsive behaviours and stabilizes residents in their current care setting.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Using a collaborative approach, act as primary contact to coach and support staff in proper responsive approach to residents exhibiting behavioural issues with a focus on their safety and the safety of others;

Assessment, planning, evaluating and documenting of resident care related to responsive behavioural issues;

Review the administration of prescribed medications, injections and other treatments, to determine their effectiveness;

Assess staff in the delivery of care to residents and provide immediate coaching and redirection as required to prevent/diffuse escalating behaviours;

 Identify and recommend to staff strategies that are abilities focused, resident centered, and age appropriate for responding to behaviours and managing associated tasks;

Develop a regular routine for updating and appropriate follow up of resident treatment program;

 Review resident incidents, assess staff response, and identify and develop responsive training for staff as appropriate;

Participate and network with North Bay Regional Health Centre (NBRHC) and maintain a formal linkage to external BSO and other speciality resources to seek and share practicebased experiences in a two-way exchange.

All other duties as assigned and within the scope of the BSO initiative.

An employee must adhere to specific guidelines established by Cassellholme and comply with all procedures and working techniques under regulations of the Ministry of Health and Long-

Term Care, Occupational Health and Safety Act and Cassellholme policies and procedures.

QUALIFICATIONS

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the education, knowledge, skill and/or ability required.

 Registered Practical Nurse

Current CPR & First Aid Certificate

Trained in the P.I.E.C.E.S. framework and Gentle Persuasive Approach

Highly developed demonstrated skill in assessment of dementia and mental health issues

Demonstrated excellent clinical reasoning and critical thinking skills to ensure preventative and early detection, strong assessment, intervention, and care planning skills

 Strong written and communication skills

Intermediate computer skills with knowledge of Point Click Care, and ability to use electronic communication devices and software pertaining to risk management and documentation

 Demonstrated experience in RAI documentation including assessments, RAPS, and care planning

Current valid driver’s license, insurance, and registration with reliable vehicle

Cheerful, courteous, and caring manner is essential

 Bilingualism in English and French an asset

1 Position designated bilingual

Experience

3 years experience working with clients with behavioural issues

 3 years experience in a long-term care setting

 Experience with quality improvement processes an asset

Experience with delivering training, coaching and teaching to adults

Current Criminal Background check with vulnera ble screen required.
