BYRON SCOTT POST GAME QUOTES
Los Angeles Lakers vs. Minnesota Timberwolves
Regular Season Game #16, STAPLES Center
November 28, 2014
Lakers Head Coach Byron Scott
(On the Lakers loss)
“Frustration and anger is going through my head right now. There was a lack of focus. It is as
simple as that. We weren’t ready to play. We made a bunch of mental mistakes and a bunch of
physical mistakes. We looked at them like they were inferior to us. That’s the bottom line as far
as I’m concerned. We made some bone headed plays on both ends of the floor. This is a young
team, they’re just going to keep playing, you have to beat them, and you have to keep playing
hard but we relaxed. Again, we just made a ton of mistakes.”
(On the Lakers defense)
“Things we talked about doing defensively we just didn’t do. Defense was our main issue. Lack
of focus was terrible. We talked about what we had to change at half time. We came out and they
ran their play three times, we had to call a time out and remind the players what we were doing.
We acted like we never said it before. So like I said, the only thing I can attribute to it was the
lack of focus. We were not ready to play. It’s as simple as that.”
(On the Lakers next steps)
“We just have to keep working. Sooner or later you’re going to get tired of getting the crap beat
out of you. You start to man up and do things you’re supposed to do. It’s as simple as that. You
can’t play good hard-nosed basketball one night and look at the opponent the next night and say,
‘oh, we have an easy one’. It doesn’t work that way in this sport.”
(On the Lakers lack of focus)
“There was a fair warning this morning, a fair warning before the game, a fair warning at half
time and we still came out with a lack of focus. I definitely think I can get through to these guys.
I look at it like it is, an anomaly and all the things we’re messing up, we can correct. It just takes
a lot more effort and focus and tonight it was about the worst we’ve played in terms of being
focused.”
(On the Laker players’ emotions)
“I know a few guys are pissed off but as for the rest of the guys, I have no idea if they share the
same emotion because they weren’t thinking tonight, obviously. I don’t know what they’re
thinking right now.”

BYRON SCOTT POST GAME QUOTES
(On the Timberwolves and their efforts)
“Have you ever been to the zoo? Do you ever go see the gorillas, the elephants, the lions, and
monkeys and they’re looking right back at you? That’s what Minnesota was doing. They were
looking right back at us. There’s nobody in this league we should be looking at and thinking,
‘that will be an easy win’. Period. This team is young, they’re going to play hard, they won’t stop
and we have to continue to play for 48 minutes and we have to be focused.”
(On Kobe Bryant’s minutes)
“He played for 34 or 35 minutes. I think he looked fine. I don’t think he had a lack of focus.”
