BBB Student Video Contest
RULES AND GUIDELINES
Eligibility: The Better Business Bureau (BBB) Central Texas High School Student Video Competition is open to all
high school students (grade 9-12) in the Round Rock Independent School District and Austin Independent School
District. BBB serving Central, Coastal, Southwest Texas and the Permian Basin (BBB Austin) is the local host of the
contest. Enrollment will be verified.

All entries must be uploaded to drop box (directions on BBB website) no later than 5 p.m. CST on Friday, Feb. 26, 2016
Student video theme: ‘Trust’
Video must not exceed 30 seconds in length, not including the 10 second intro and outro.
Video must begin with a five second ‘title’ screen that includes the following:
a) Title of project
b) Student(s’) name(s)
c) School name, city & state
d) Teacher’s name
e) Total running time
Video must end with five second full screen of BBB logo (provided by BBB)
Students may enter one (1) originally produced piece in the contest (a single student may not enter both an individual
submission and a team submission – student must choose one or the other)
Entry must be material shot and created in 2016
Nudity, profanity, explicit violence, drug use or references to drug use or anything the judges find offensive are grounds for
rejection
Applicants are solely responsible for their film production – this includes getting the appropriate releases for all persons who
appear on-camera, including minors and their parents/guardians. The use of original music or royalty-free music is strongly
recommended. Proper release forms must be presented for music subject to copyright.

Besides this form, two additional forms must be signed and submitted, including: Entry Form & Terms and Conditions
Release Form.
The entry becomes the property of BBB Austin.
Judging and Awards:





BBB Austin will upload all final video submissions to its YouTube page (http://www.youtube.com/centraltexasbbb) on
Tuesday, March 1, 2016
Students are encouraged to market their videos to gain the most ‘likes’
The top five videos with the most ‘likes’ by Friday, March 11, 2016 will move to the final round for judging
A panel of judges will determine the first place, first runner-up and second runner-up based on the following criteria;
a) Communication of the theme of ‘Trust’ – how well did the entry express the theme?
b) Creativity – how innovative and artistic is the entry?
c) Production – how well is the entry directed, edited, written, designed and acted.
Announcement and prizes for each of the winners will be handed out on April 1, 2016, along with each video being featured
on BBB’s social media sites.

and will indemnify BBB Austin against all claims, liabilities and expenses respecting such agreement, and
that, knowing of BBB Austin’s reliance on said agreement, I agree to cause said person to adhere to all of
the provisions of this agreement.
TERMS AND CONDITIONS
By entering the Better Business Bureau (BBB) Central Texas High School Student Video Competition,
entrants release and hold the host harmless from and against any and all losses, damages, rights, claims
and actions of any kind arising in whole or in part, directly or indirectly, from the competition. BBB serving
Central, Coastal, Southwest Texas and the Permian Basin (BBB Austin) will handle the entries with care,
but cannot be held liable for any damages or loss during the transfer process to and from BBB Austin. BBB
Austin is not responsible for any claim involving copyright or trademark infringement or payment of any
royalty related to the work. Applicants are responsible for their own insurance and are not covered by BBB
Austin’s insurance.
By submitting your entry, you certify that you are authorized to submit this work and that all clearances,
licenses, and releases necessary for use and public display or broadcast of the work have been granted
and agree that you will indemnify and hold harmless BBB Austin for any liabilities and expenses in
connection with any claims based on any entry submitted by you to BBB Austin.
BBB Austin retains the right to accept or decline any entry, for whatever reason, without notice or
explanation.
No material deemed vulgar or pornographic by the judges will be considered.
Entering the competition constitutes permission to use the names and likenesses of the submission for
publicity and promotions with no compensation. Additionally, the entry becomes the property of BBB
Austin, and may be used in future promotions, events or marketing campaigns.
You request that BBB Austin evaluate and judge the submitted material.

I have read the submission guidelines and qualifications, and accept all terms of participation in the Better
