466 PRAISE, MY SOUL
Henry Francis Lyte
PRAISE, MY SOUL, THE KING OF HEAVEN;
To His feet thy tribute bring.
Ransomed, healed, restored, forgiven,
Who like thee His praise should sing?
Praise Him! Praise Him!
Praise Him! Praise Him!
Praise the everlasting King!
ICEL
Praise Him for His grace and favour
To our fathers in distress;
Praise Him, still the same forever,
Slow to chide, and swift to bless.
Praise Him! Praise Him!
Praise Him! Praise Him!
Glorious in His faithfulness.
ICEL
Father-like, He tends and spares us;
Well our feeble frame He knows;
In His hands He gently bears us,
Rescues us from all our foes.
Praise Him! Praise Him!
Praise Him! Praise Him!
Widely as His mercy flows.
ICEL
Angels in the height, adore Him;
Ye behold Him face to face;
Sun and moon, bow down before Him,
Dwellers all in time and space.
Praise Him! Praise Him!
Praise Him! Praise Him!
Praise with us the God of grace!

935 MY JESUS, MY SAVIOUR
Darlene Zschech
MY JESUS, MY SAVIOUR,
Lord, there is none like You.
All of my days I want to praise
The wonders of Your mighty love.
My comfort, my shelter,
Tower of refuge and strength,
Let every breath, all that I am,
Never cease to worship You.
ICEL
Shout to the Lord all the earth, let us sing
Power and majesty, praise to the King.
Mountains bow down and the seas will roar
At the sound of Your name.
I sing for joy at the work of Your hands.
Forever I’ll love You, forever I’ll stand.
Nothing compares to the promise I have in You.

646 ALL I ONCE HELD DEAR
Graham Kendrick
ALL I ONCE HELD DEAR, built my life upon,
All this world reveres, and wars to own,
All I once thought gain I have counted loss;
Spent and worthless now, compared to this.
ICEL
Knowing You, Jesus,
Knowing You, there is no greater thing.
You’re my all, You’re the best,
You’re my joy, my righteousness,
And I love You, Lord.
ICEL
Now my heart’s desire is to know You more,
To be found in You and known as Yours.
To possess by faith what I could not earn,
All-surpassing gift of righteousness.
ICEL
Knowing You, Jesus,
Knowing You, there is no greater thing.
You’re my all, You’re the best,
You’re my joy, my righteousness,
And I love You, Lord.
ICEL
Oh, to know the power of Your risen life,
And to know You in Your sufferings.
To become like You in Your death, my Lord,
So with You to live and never die.
ICEL
Knowing You, Jesus,
Knowing You, there is no greater thing.
You’re my all, You’re the best,
You’re my joy, my righteousness,
And I love You, Lord.

1092 WE HAVE SUNG OUR SONGS
Stuart Townend
WE HAVE SUNG OUR SONGS OF VICTORY,
We have prayed to You for rain;
We have cried for Your compassion
To renew the land again.
Now we’re standing in Your presence,
More hungry than before;
Now we’re on Your steps of mercy,
And we’re knocking at Your door.
ICEL
How long before You drench the barren land?
How long before we see Your righteous hand?
How long before Your name is lifted high?
How long before the weeping turns to songs of
joy?
ICEL
Lord, we know Your heart is broken
By the evil that You see,
And You’ve stayed Your hand of judgement
For You plan to set men free.
But the land is still in darkness,
And we’ve fled from what is right;
We have failed the silent children
Who will never see the light.
ICEL
How long before You drench the barren land?
How long before we see Your righteous hand?
How long before Your name is lifted high?
How long before the weeping turns to songs of
joy?
ICEL
But I know a day is coming
When the deaf will hear His voice,
When the blind will see their Saviour,
And the lame will leap for joy.
When the widow finds a Husband
Who will always love His bride,
And the orphan finds a Father
Who will never leave her side.
ICEL
How long before Your glory lights the skies?
How long before Your radiance lifts our eyes?
How long before Your fragrance fills the air?
How long before the earth resounds with songs of
joy?

1404 KING OF KINGS, MAJESTY
Jarrod Cooper
KING OF KINGS, MAJESTY,
God of heaven living in me.
Gentle Saviour, closest Friend,
Strong Deliverer, Beginning and End:
All within me falls at Your throne.
Your majesty, I can but bow;
I lay my all before You now.
In royal robes I don't deserve,
I live to serve Your majesty.
ICEL
Earth and heaven worship You,
Love eternal, faithful and true,
Who bought the nations, ransomed souls,
Brought this sinner near to Your throne:
All within me cries out in praise.

MATHEW 20: 1-16
A PARABLE OF GRACE
Parables:
Stories using comparisons to teach an important moral
lesson. Note: Only one major lesson per parable.
A unique way of Jesus’ teaching.
…He did not say anything to them without using a
parable. Mark 4:34
Depending on how you count: 62 parables, 29 in common.
ICEL
We have just part of what happened
John 21
25 Jesus did many other things as well. If every one of
them were written down, I suppose that even the whole
world would not have room for the books that would be
written.
The gospel of Mathew was written towards the end of
the 1st Century and was early “Canonized”.
Unique in Matthew: The parables of Jesus about the
“Kingdom of Heaven”: chapters:13 ,20 ,22
ICEL
Matthew 20:1-16
The Parable of the Workers in the Vineyard
“For the kingdom of heaven is like a landowner who went
out early in the morning (6 am) to hire men to work in
his vineyard. 2 He agreed to pay them a denarius for the
day and sent them into his vineyard.
3 “About the third hour (9 am) he went out and saw others
standing in the marketplace doing nothing.
4 He told them, ‘You also go and work in my vineyard, and I
will pay you whatever is right.’
5 So they went. “He went out again about the sixth hour
(12 am) and the ninth hour (3 pm) and did the same
thing.
1
ICEL
6
About the eleventh hour (5 pm) he went out and found still
others standing around. He asked them, ‘Why have you
been standing here all day long doing nothing?’
7 “‘Because no one has hired us,’ they answered. “He said
to them, ‘You also go and work in my vineyard.’
8 “When evening came, the owner of the vineyard said to
his foreman, ‘Call the workers and pay them their wages,
beginning with the last ones hired and going on to the
first.’
9 “The workers who were hired about the eleventh hour (5
pm) came and each received a denarius.
ICEL
10
So when those came who were hired first, they expected
to receive more. But each one of them also received a
denarius.
11 When they received it, they began to grumble against the
landowner.
12‘These men who were hired last worked only one hour,’
they said, ‘and you have made them equal to us who
have borne the burden of the work and the heat of the
day.’
13 “But he answered one of them, ‘Friend, I am not being
unfair to you. Didn’t you agree to work for a denarius?
ICEL
14
Take your pay and go. I want to give the man who was
hired last the same as I gave you.
15 Don’t I have the right to do what I want with my own
money? Or are you envious because I am generous?’
16 “So the last will be first, and the first will be last.”
Kingdom of heaven and Kingdom of God are the same!
Paul: “I have gone about preaching the kingdom” (Acts 20)
Not (just) a place, but an attitude, behavior,
The “dominion” where Christ reigns…The Holy Spirit
ICEL
There where Christ reigns
Romans 14
17 For the kingdom of God is not a matter of eating and
drinking, but of righteousness, peace and joy in the Holy
Spirit.
Hebrews 12
28 Therefore, since we are receiving a kingdom that cannot
be shaken, let us be thankful…
How do we give that hands and feet?
ICEL
1187 BEFORE THE THRONE OF GOD ABOVE
Charitie L. Bancroft (1841-92)
BEFORE THE THRONE OF GOD ABOVE,
I have a strong, a perfect plea,
A great High Priest whose name is Love,
Who ever lives and pleads for me.
My name is graven on His hands,
My name is written on His heart;
I know that while in heaven He stands
No tongue can bid me thence depart,
No tongue can bid me thence depart.
ICEL
When Satan tempts me to despair,
And tells me of the guilt within,
Upward I look and see Him there
Who made an end to all my sin.
Because the sinless Saviour died,
My sinful soul is counted free;
For God the Just is satisfied
To look on Him and pardon me,
To look on Him and pardon me.
ICEL
Behold Him there! The risen Lamb,
My perfect, spotless righteousness;
The great unchangeable I AM,
The King of glory and of grace!
One with Himself I cannot die,
My soul is purchased with His blood;
My life is hid with Christ on high,
With Christ, my Saviour and my God,
With Christ my Saviour and my God.
