Please note that general education requirements can vary slightly by college. Your DGS advisor can help you plan based on your areas of interest but it’s still
important to choose several options and classes can fill or there could be time conflicts with other courses.

First-Year Discovery Program Fall 2015
Established in 1994, the Discovery program helps Illinois students enhance their education through greater interaction with faculty in
small classes. The interactive courses also enable faculty to share their research in a particular area with students. It is intended for firstyear students only.
Discovery courses cover a wide range of disciplines and enrollment is limited to a maximum of nineteen students per section. Some
Discovery courses can be used to satisfy General Education requirements or requirements in a major, while others are electives.
Students should only enroll in one Discovery course.
