Activities Representation Fund
The Activities Representation Fund is available to approved
student groups and current students that require help with costs
relating to them taking part in competitions regionally or nationally
to represent the University of Greenwich.
Following a pilot project in 2012-13, the Students’ Union continues to offer support for student
groups and current students to enter competitions to represent the University of Greenwich.
Funding is available to support entry into regional or national competitions where teams or
individuals are representing the University. On some occasions we may also be able to support
entry to international competitions, but this will depend on resources available at the time.
Entry to regular competitions such as the BUCS leagues is dealt with separately to this process. This
process is suitable for team or individual entry into competitions such as BUCS Championships.
Support will usually consist of paying the whole cost of entry, plus subsidy towards costs of travel
and accommodation if necessary.
The individual or a representative of the team will need to complete an application form giving
information about the competition, proposed entrants, and the benefit to students of entry.
Application Forms are available from the online Committee Handbook at www.suug.co.uk.
Application Criteria
The application MUST satisfy the following criteria:
1. The individual or all individuals in a team competing must be current University of Greenwich
students.
2. The individual competing must be representing the University of Greenwich, and the
competition must recognise that (e.g. in BUCS Individual Championships, or other University &
College competitions).
Note: it is desirable that the Representation Funds are used for competitions at a higher than usual
level, for example the fund would not be available for a regular BUCS fixture but could be applied
to for support in the final stages of a regional or national cup competition.
Application Process
1. Full completion of an Activities Representation Fund application form – with relevant
supporting information.
2. Submit the application to sportsandsocs@gre.ac.uk or by handing it in at Union Reception
or to Student Activities staff.
3. Student Activities staff will be in contact within 2 working weeks either with a decision, a
request for further information, or to arrange a meeting to discuss the application.
Generally the fund will aim to support the full cost of entry fees plus up to a maximum of 50% of
related costs such as transport and accommodation if necessary. Please note available funds are
limited and applications will be considered on their individual merit and any award made will take
account of the alternative funding available to that group, team, or individual.
Where monies remain in the fund, applications will continue to be considered up to the financial
year end (July 31st). However applicants are encouraged to apply as soon as possible as funds
are limited. Please note claims must be processed in the academic year to which they relate.
