What’s your name?
Procedure
Warm-up Off the screens
1.
Give out a post-it note to each student.
2.
Tell Ss to write their names on the note and stick it onto themselves so that
everybody can see it.
3.
Do the same thing yourself.
4.
Stand in front of your students and say: Hello! My name is… and add your name
and point to the note.
5.
Choose one of the students and ask him/her: What’s your name? and elicit the
answer from him/her.
6.
Students take turns asking questions and answering them.

Alex: Hello! My name’s Alex.
Female adult: Hello! What’s your
name?
Lucy: Hello! My name’s Lucy.
Female adult: And what’s your name?
Kim: Oh! My name’s Kim.

Exploit the scene by asking the Ss to describe
what they can see.
Then listen and watch the animation. Ask
some questions to check understanding.

and say’ activity. The aim is to practise a short
natural dialogue.

dialogue.
2.

You can press ‘pause’ at any time and

4.
Repeat as many times as you want to.
Now it’s your turn. This is a ‘free practice’
stage. The aim is personalisation.
1. Tell Ss to work in pairs and ask and
answer the question in the picture.
2. Tell Ss to change partners and practise
the dialogues.
Note: Encourage Ss to repeat the words until they are confident. Supervise what they
students are saying and correct whenever necessary.
