GOD’S PEOPLE
• THE LAND ISRAEL WAS GOING TO AFTER
DELIVERANCE FROM EGYPT
• THE LAND OF ISRAEL’S ENEMIES
THE PROMISED LAND
It is a land/life identified or defined as:
• LIFE IN THE SPIRIT
• LIVING IN VICTORY
• THE HIGHER CHRISTIAN LIFE
THE PROMISED LAND
THIS LAND INCLUDES SUCH ACTIVITIES AS:
• PRAYER
• FASTING
• WORSHIP (PESONAL AND CONGREGATIONAL)
• TITHING AND GIVING OFFERINGS AND ALMS
• WITNESSING
• SERVICE: IN THE CHURCH AND IN THE COMMUNITY
• STUDYING THE SCRIPTURES
• HOLY LIVING
• REFRAINING FROM SIN
THE PROMISED LAND
IT IS A LIFE IDENTIFIED BY:
• THE FRUIT OF THE SPIRIT
• A MEEK AND QUIET SPIRIT
• HOLY CONVERSATION
• A HOLY LIFE-STYLE
• MODESTY IN ALL ACTIVITIES AND APPREANCES OF LIFE
• A CROSS
• CHARIOTS
THE PROMISED LAND
• IT IS AN OCCUPIED LAND.
• A LAND WHERE THE ENEMY IS INTENT ON
KEEPING YOU AND ME FROM ABIDING THERE.
• A LAND WHERE THE PRESENCE OF GOD IS MOST
ENJOYED AND THE BLESSINGS OF GOD ABOUND.
• A LAND WE MUST FIGHT TO OCCUPY AND
MAINTAIN.
CANAANITES
• POLYTHESITC: Believed in many gods and goddesses
• El Elyon (The Most High) was only one of the many
• Notorious gods mentioned in scripture are:
• Molech, Dagon, and Baal
Although the Canaanite religion has died out there
has been a modern day revival of its ancient
worship. Two groups emerged in the 1990’s”
Canaanite Sanctuary

Hittites
• Super power located in modern day Turkey, Syria,
and Iraq with fringe elements in Canaan.
• Abraham purchased his burial plot from Ephron, a
Hittite.
• Hittites served as high ranking military officials in
King David’s Army.
• Storm gods were prominent in their religion with one
of the main gods known as “The Conqueror” or “King
of Heaven
Amorites
• A subculture of the Canaanites
• People of great stature (almost giants)
• Occupied the land East and West of the Jordan River
• The first enemies Israel encountered on their way to
the promised land.
Perizzites
• Located in the hill country that was allotted to Judah
and Benjamin.
• They were conquered but not destroyed
• Later enslaved by King Solomon
• Israel intermarried with them and adopted their
idolatress practices
Hivites
• Located in the mountainous region from Jerusalem
northward to Syria
• Renown for deceiving Joshua (Joshua 9:3-27)
• Israel entered into a covenant with them.
• They remained in the promised land as a reminder of
a failed conquest due to a illegitimate covenant
• The deceiver remained
Jebusites
• Subculture of the Amorites
• Occupied the mountains around Jerusalem
• Defeated but not dislodged
• Religion was similar to Israel’s - same God: El Elyon
• This is possibly why they remained
• Finally conquered by King David
• Two prominent Palestinian leaders claim they are
descendants of the Jebusites:
Yasir Arafat, Faisal Husseini
THE PROMISED LAND
In order to begin occupying the land one must:
• Make the decision to go to battle.
• Identify the first enemy you will encounter.
• Prepare for the battle.
• Fight to win.
