RSC SENATE MINUTES 4/27/2013 Senate was held at 8 pm in Bush Memorial and convened at 9:12 pm on 3/3, with President Eytel residing, all members of E-board and past President Kroder present, and 2/3 of student body members in attendance for a quorum. Next Senate is 4/7/2013 at 7 pm in Bush Memorial o o o Raffle at every meeting (must be present to win) and food at random meetings Congratulations to Sarah Goderie for winning this week's raffle! Senate dates for Spring Semester 2013: April 7 and 21, and May Revised RSC Student Government Constitution was also passed and is now in effec Special Elections o o Special Election packets are available in the student center and are due on April 7th no later than 5pm Positions available are: E-board: Inter-Campus Coordinator Public Safety Representative (2 positions available) Class 2014 Co-President Vice President Secretary Alumnae Representative Class 2015 Historian Song Leaders (2 positions available) Class 2016 Treasurer Secretary Historian o Student Government Officers Studying Abroad o o o o o Song Leaders (2 positions available) A concern was brought to E-board regarding a student government officer wishing to study abroad Due to the high demands of an officer position and need for constant communication, E-board discussed the best options to keep any student in her elected office while allowing her to study abroad if she wished On page 14 of the RSC Student Government Constitution, language mentions a pro tem or a special election for any student wishing to study abroad After extensive discussions amongst E-board and with the student who is immediately affected by any decisions made, the idea of a co-president was decided upon A co-president would minimize miscommunication, allow for instant decision-making if needed, and work with the current president as an equal leader to best organize events for the class Senate members were asked to vote upon the co-president idea as a trial for officers abroad, after being able to ask questions and voice concerns Senate approved the motion to allow a co-president trial run Class of 2014 is directly and immediately affected by this decision Treasurer's Training o o o Treasurer Brady-Haskell will be holding a treasurer's training after Spring Break (date TBD) for all class presidents and treasurers and all club treasurers Topics to be covered include: how to request funds, deposit monies, and timeline required for requisitions If you have any questions, please contact Treasurer Brady-Haskel Class Rings will be available for order o o o Old Sagefest Shirts o o o o o o o o Schedule is now live for students to view for upcoming year Tuesday of Spring Break, early warnings will be sent out Advising begins March 18 Class scheduling will begin March 27 for Fall Athletes and April 1 for Seniors o o o New library guaranteed to be finished by Fall 2013 Website regarding construction updates is in progress to go online Books can still be ordered via temporary library areas or online at library.sage.edu o Starting the week after Spring Break, Student Government E-board Members will host office hours for students to voice concerns or request transactions President Eytel - Wed 10 am - 11 am VP Bazar - Wed 2:30 pm - 3:30 pm Treasurer Brady-Haskell Wed 1:30 pm - 2:30 pm Library Construct Update E-board Office Hours Meeting with MOSS Representative o There should be no parallel park next to the tree If parked car owner will be ticketed We have made a request for new tace lines Upcoming events: o Carol Pett will be at the next Senate meeting to talk about lowering some of the bookstore prices Commuter's Parking Lot o o o E-board will be selling old SageFest shirts for $4 at the next Senate meeting Money acquired from sales will be donated to the YWCA Treasurer's Training will cover how to request funds, budgets, and more. If you have questions or concerns regarding this training, please contact Treasurer Brady-Haskell for more details. 2013-2014 Scheduling and Advising o o o Josten's is the new company students may order their class rings through at a cheaper cost A Josten's Rep will be on campus on 4/23 from 11 am - 4 pm in Buchman and 4/24 from 4:30-7pm in McKinstry If you have already ordered and received your class ring through Herff Jones and have a problem where an exchange is necessary, please contact President Eytel with your name and ring problem and she will help you get in contact with the Herff Jones Rep via D.Baum Bus Trip to Boston Event is April 13.
