JOB DESCRIPTION and RESPONSIBILTIES
GENERAL
1. Carrying out the duties and responsibilities described in the SMS
2. Planning and effecting all electrical/electronic equipment maintenance and control its
quality
3. Operating the electrical planned maintenance system
4. Familiarizing himself with the vessel’s electrical drawings, instruction manuals and test
instruments as well as the work of Engineer Officers and assisting with mechanical
maintenance when required.
5. Ensuring that the vessel is ready in all electrical aspects for any operational

6. The safe and efficient maintenance of all gas proof, flameproof and instrinsically safe
equipment.
7. Being fully conversant with the relevant Codes of Practice and maintenance techniques
associated with the equipment installed.
8. Standing E/R watches in accordance with the C/E’s instructions.
9. Diagnosing electrical faults, taking remedial action and reporting
10. Ensuring that no unauthorized installation of equipment or unauthorized temporary
/portable wiring is carried out.
11. Being present in the E/R during manouvre unless instructed otherwise by the C/E or
the 2nd E/R.
12. Assisting in the operation and maintenance of TVs, DVDs, etc. used in training.
13. Co-operating with the C/O in the maintenance of the Bridge electrical/electronic
equipment.
14. Assisting in the maintenance and repair of all alarm systems, fire detection equipment
and telephone systems.
15. Being Standby at anytime as circumstances may require.
16. Ensuring tidiness and cleaning of electric workshop, battery rooms, converter room,
etc.
