Role Purpose:
The Chief Innovation Officer (CINO) role is to act as an evangelist positioning Sabio’s message to
mainly external audiences.
The CNIO works alongside the Chief Technical Officer (CTO) and Head of Marketing (HOM) functions
to define Sabio’s marketing messaging in relation to innovative breakthrough technology for
transforming customer contact. The CINO is responsible for taking the agreed Sabio message and
presenting this to the market place as well as internal stakeholders.
The CINO role has a passion and drive for thought leadership and evangelising Sabio’s current and
future propositions. This role is required to engage and convince external ‘C’ level audiences that
Sabio are the correct organisation to work with to transform customer contact. This will be achieved
through relevant channels such as face to face at events and specific customer meetings, via the
website blogs, social channels and marketing communications collateral.
The CINO role has very strong linkages to the Head of Marketing and CTO in order to define the
appropriate messaging strategy, operating with the following respective remits:

CINO applies customer and industry insight to shape the marketing message /marketing
strategy
CTO applies technology expertise to define the relevant solutions that form the technology
strategy and the solution areas in which Sabio operate
Head of Marketing defines the communication strategy for the marketing message in order to
achieve the business objectives.
Together, this team is responsible for ensuring that the Sabio message is relevant, compelling and
effective in stimulating customers and prospects to invest with Sabio to deliver their customer
contact solutions in a way that drives profitability and outstanding CSAT.
At a tactical level, the CINO is responsible for producing and delivering generic and customer specific
content to articulate the message through presentations, documents, blogs, website content and
workshops. The CINO will be comfortable articulating the message to C-level executives as well as
operational and technical management functions.
Main Duties & Accountabilities:
Insight Research
 Identify and capture leading and innovative approaches to solving customer contact
problems throughout Sabio’s target markets
 Understand key vendor propositions in order to leverage strengths to support the Sabio
proposition
 Engage recognised analysts to extract innovation related knowledge
 Seek to understand relevant competitor activity and partner road maps, whilst maintaining
own expertise on products and technologies


Work closely with the marketing team and regional sales teams to understand innovation
requirements relevant to local customers, partners, competition and other market factors
Leverage existing partner and vendor relationships held by the CTO and Product Specialists
in place of duplicating communications or confusing external parties
Innovation
 Combine insight with a clear understanding of customer and prospect use-cases to define
the functional requirements for simple innovative solutions to complex problems.
 Work with the CTO and HOM to define intuitive and effective messaging which aligns
innovative Sabio deliverables to addressing complex problems.
 Promote open and creative thinking through Sabio and their customers to find solutions to
complex problems.
 Identify future proofing approaches that differentiates Sabio’s innovation positioning in the
market
Identifying new market spaces.
 Work with the CTO and HOM to analyse trends and market disruptions and searching for
emerging new market opportunities. In some cases, they’ll need to be developed at the
group level when they do not fit into the current portfolio.
Proposition Development
 Provide input to the future strategy, business direction and portfolio definition through
working closely with the CTO and HOM.
 Develop high level proposition and messaging in a consistent and relevant way for the
audience(s) to effectively deliver Sabio’s innovation message.
 Observe and understand the activities of the internal product specialist and product
management teams factoring their outputs into the marketing message
Proposition Delivery
 Work with Head of Marketing to create and execute high-impact marketing plans, events &
campaigns to support Sabio messaging
 Deliver regular event and CXO briefings on innovation ensuring that Sabio customers and
target market recognise Sabio as the market leading contact centre player of choice
 Define, support and create compelling content, collateral, website, references and other
sales tools, & proactively track the effectiveness, quality and accuracy of all assets.
 Communicate the Sabio value proposition to customers and prospects
 Contribute to customer and prospect sales and present innovation within roadmap
presentation sessions
 Engage with analysts and industry journalists to communicate the Sabio value proposition
 Produce written content for delivery through Sabio and Industry web channels, newsletters
and social media
Industry Body Engagement
 Represent Sabio through engagement with relevant industry bodies
 Undertake awards judging in order to build the profile and credibility of the Sabio brand
and also obtain insight in to best practice operational activity.
Sabio Enablement
 Communicate, mentor and educate the Sabio Commercial team on how to deliver Sabio’s
innovation value proposition.

Ability to evangelise and win over a board room with compelling industry insights and

Excellent presentation skills with the ability to engage the audience at major main
stage industry events in front of 1,000s of delegates
Strong connections to industry analysts and press with the ability to engage and brief
industry press and analysts
Excellent analytical skills with the ability to effectively use competitive research

Possesses excellent contact centre / product/technology/ telecoms industry knowledge
A recognised thought leader in the industry


Increased win rate within top tier prospects following engagement with CINO

Increase in unbudgeted revenue from top tier customers following engagement with
CINO

CSAT survey feedback from customers and prospects attending CINO delivered
sessions

Number of event appearances

Volume and quality of written marketing content

Adherence of new technology sales to portfolio

Reduction in Sabio Board engagement in sales opportunities
