Job Title: Business Management and Analysis Intern

Directorate / Team: Service Design & Innovation (SD&I)
Context of the Job
This role will provide support to the management team of Service Design and Innovation (SD&I) directorate.
SD&I currently lead service design activity across Skills Development Scotland (SDS). The nature of the SD&I portfolio is broad and varied with projects
and programmes at various stages of gestation across a variety of functions. Day to day SD&I work in collaboration with Digital Services, Foundation &
Advanced Apprenticeships Team, National Training Programmes Team, Operations, Finance, Procurement, Marketing, Communications, Scottish
Government, Scottish Funding Council and a variety of external suppliers.
This role is required to provide business (project and operational) management and analytical support and provide robust analytical outputs that directly
support the delivery of well defined & high quality SDS products and services.
This role would suited to those that have ambitions to move into Business Analyst or Project/programme management roles
Purpose of the Job
The key purpose of the Business Management and Analysis Intern role is to work within the Service Design and Innovation team, supporting the
management of the directorate, and the programme of activity taking place throughout the year.
The key focus of the role will be to:

Support project delivery, ensuring that a given project is delivered on time, within budget to agreed quality standards.

Agreeing apptoach to analysis, identifying sources, conducting analysis and presenting findings to support product development and project
activity

Gathering and interpreting business, systems and process analysis that informs decision making across the product, design and project
lifecycles

Assist with the implementation of project management methodologies and reporting on progress towards plan across the Directorate.

Support the SD&I team in key elements of project management such as project planning, documentation and analysis.

Key Accountabilities
The post holder will be required to work across the business engaging internal customers and working with partner organisations.
In addition, this will involve creating links to other internal business areas to further enhance the integrated working across the business by presenting
to and influencing colleagues within SDS.






Contribute to SD&I workstreams to deliver new services for SDS customers (internal and external).
Support SD&I directorate in all aspects of project management, including: project planning, monitoring progress, resolving issues, risk
management, governance and documentation.
Analysis and documentation of system, business and process activity to enable and inform decision making on products and service options for
business cases and options appraisals
Identify, and work collaboratively with the SD&I team, to implement improvement of processes, procedures and tools
Provide business impact analysis as required by the directorate..
Any other duties that relate to the succesful delivery of the SD&I programme of work.
