Script Workshop
Final draft due the first block day after break!
You know the drill by now:
 Make a key at the top of your paper using your highlighters
 Sample:
 Blue=Statement (Who you are, what archetype, characteristics of
archetype, etc)
 Pink=Proof (anecdotes for HOW you learned each thing/were
shaped and anecdotes showing HOW you are now)
 Yellow=Commentary (Tying it all together. Talk about the anecdote
and explain HOW it helped you learn each thing/shape you and
Address WHY this is important)
 Label the transitions at the end of each section
 Highlight the body sections for statement, proof, and
commentary using your key
Introduction
 Do you have a “hook”?
 Have you introduced yourself , your artifact, and your
archetype?
 Is there a strong green word thesis prior to launching into
your speech?
 Remember, this is a good place to mention your historical
figure or fictional character by adding a quote from that
person. You can incorporate these elsewhere if they don’t fit
in your intro.
First Section
 Circle the SPECIFIC thing(s) you learned from the chosen family
member(s), event or activity. TIE TO ARCHETYPICAL QUALITIES
 For example: loyalty, empathy, finding joy in small things, working hard,
the value of money, etc.
 If you haven’t included anything specific, you MUST add that. Make a note.
 Did you include the story of HOW you learned this/these? HOW did
this person/people/ event/ activity teach you what you said they did?
 Be specific
 If you don’t have this, make yourself a note
 Do you have a SPECIFIC example of HOW you apply it or how you
exhibit the learned trait today?
 Should PROVE that you really did learn the trait(s) you say you did
 If you don’t have this, make yourself a note
Connections to Artifact
 For each section make sure you have:
 Addressed the part of your artifact that connects to that section
 Explained any symbolism or metaphor in what you used to

Conclusion: Future Goals
 Things to consider for your conclusion:
 Circle the SPECIFIC goals you have
 Can be from any area of your life. Doesn’t just have to be career related.
 How do they relate to your archetype?
 HOW did you come to these goals?
 Where did these come from
 Connect them to all relevant family, friends, events, hobbies, and interests.
 HOW do these goals influence the decisions you have been making and
will make?
 Have you taken specific classes or joined specific clubs for these goals? Do
you volunteer anywhere related? Are you focusing on grades or going
somewhere specifically for that major?
Purpose
 Look at the things you circled in each section:
 Is this what you want your audience to understand/know about
you?
 Is this the impression you want them to leave with?
 If your answer is “no,” you need to re-evaluate what you’ve
chosen to include
Language Register Check
 Are you staying in formal register? Look back at notes to check.
 Use a pen or a pencil to circle any register drops and write
“register” next to these circled areas.
 You may use personal pronouns like “I,” “me,” “my,” “we,” “us,” and
“our.”
 Absolutely no “you” or “your”
 Use Control+F to find all the “you”s and “your”s
Audience Awareness
 Have you said anything that may alienate your audience?
 Insulted your audience
 Used inappropriate language
 Anything else that may be questionable?
 If you have, you will need to change it
To Do for Final Draft:
 Make revisions
 Time it! Read it aloud for both editing and timing.
 Practice. Practice some more. Practice again.
 Read it out loud EVERY DAY to facilitate memorization
 Deliver your speech in front of a mirror, to your friends,
parents, etc. Practice and repetition WILL pay off.
 Bring your final draft, your rough draft, and your artifact the
first block day after break.
 If you aren’t here, it is all still due by the beginning of the class
period.
