JOB SUMMARY
The Director of Sales is responsible for the leadership and management of all aspects of group sales at the resort to
include leisure, corporate, and group room sales, in addition to catering sales.
JOB DUTIES
1. Develop, implement and evaluate short and long-term tactics and programs focused on customer and market
needs/conditions in order to ensure the achievement of group revenue goals.
2. Assist in the development and implementation annual goals, objectives and budgets for the Sales department.
3. Plan, manage and evaluate all financial aspects of the sales efforts throughout the resort to ensure cost
effectiveness and optimal utilization of resources.
4. Assist in the preparation, development and execution of all sales plans to provide direction and specific plans
of action.
5. Develop strategies for forecasting and analyzing sales and reservation needs and developing effective product
responses, delivery systems and methods for measuring and evaluating results.
6. Produce rate strategies and guidelines, to be used by the Sales, Catering, and Reservations team in the selling of
hotel rooms, for a minimum period of twelve months at all times.
7. Ensure all corporate deadlines are satisfied relating to monthly, quarterly and annual reporting needs.
8. Coach and counsel associates regarding consistent application of sales, customer service and culture
implementation.
9. Produce both quarterly and annual demand forecasts to highlight high demand, shoulder, and distressed
periods for the hotel to be used in effectively monitoring discounts and promotional rates throughout the year.
10. Maintain consistent knowledge of:
a. Resort features/ services and hours of operation.
b. Anticipated levels of business.
11. Maintain complete knowledge of and compliance with all resort policies and procedures.
12. Ensure that accurate and current sales related data is readily available to support and document decisionmaking processes.
13. Support, as necessary, all direct sales efforts of the sales team to include sales trips, off-property functions and
customer entertainment.
14. Maintain current job descriptions for all department positions.
15. Complete and maintain accurate, objective and timely performance reviews for appropriate associates in the
department.
16. Implement proper internal controls to ensure compliance with all corporate standards.

17. Conduct regular department meetings.
18. Participate in weekly yield meeting involving rate strategies for the next 90 days, group backlog, and
competitive business analysis.
19. Manage budgeted revenues and expenses and maximize profitability related to the reservation sales
department.
20. Receive department related guest complaints and ensure necessary corrective action is administered.
21. Constantly explore new products and services, evaluating potential return on investment and enhancement to
the resort versus potential costs.
22. Maintain an open door communication policy for all associates.
23. Monitor quality and accuracy of final group sales and wholesale contracts to ensure proper application of resort
deposit, space allocation, yield and policies.
24. Prepare and train Sales Managers in relation to performance benchmarks and budgets.
25. Effectively coordinate sales efforts between sales, food & beverage, rooms, and meeting services.
26. All other tasks as assigned by your supervisor.
27. Support MetWest Terra Hospitality’s environmental commitments by having the knowledge, skills and values
to be a leader in the global goal of “greening” the hospitality industry.
28. Watch for safety hazards and report them immediately to your Supervisor.
RESPONSIBILTY
1. Ability to enforce all resort standards, policies, and procedures with resort associates.
2. Ability to prioritize, execute and organize work assignments; delegate responsibilities effectively.
3. Ability to lead and direct performance of departmental associates and follow through with corrections
where needed.
4. Ability to effectively model and maintain resort mission statement and guiding principles.
5. Be able to analyze and resolve problems while exercising good judgment and maintaining the best
interest of the resort.
6. Be able to effectively plan and implement processes and procedures necessary to ensure effective
associate relations, customer satisfaction and achievement of budgeted resort revenues.
7. Maintain a customer base and meet or exceed budgeted group and other pace goals (Individual and
team).
8. Ability to maintain confidentiality of all guest and resort information.
9. Ability to effectively complete all information contained in this job description without direct
supervision.
10. Ability to effectively motivate associates and maintain a cohesive team.
11. Ability to effectively interact with all levels of associates within the resort.
12. Ability to work effectively with all departments in order to meet their needs.
13. Ability to respond to all associate concerns in a calm and objective manner.
14. Ability to perform all required job duties within the department and scope of the position.
15. Ability to input and access data in a computer in a timely manner.
16. Ability to understand guest inquiries and provide responses.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
2. College graduate or equivalent industry experience.
3. Five – Seven years experience as a manager within the Sales / Revenue Management /
Reservations department, preferably a four-diamond property.
4. Excellent written and verbal communication skills and the ability to utilize them effectively in
English with guests, peers and associates.
5. Ability to work under stressful conditions and balance multiple commitments simultaneously.
6. Strong customer service aptitude.
7. Understanding of budgetary and fiscal responsibility within the department.
8. Familiarity with all operational areas of the resort.

9. Computer literacy and the ability to utilize Word, Excel and department specific programs.
10. Desire to progress within the hospitaltity industry.
11. Prior experience as a department manager in Sales or Reservations.
12. Prior hotel sales experience.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
1. Be able to sit and/or stand for long periods of time.
2. Be able to lift, push, pull and carry up to 30 lbs.
