TEXTBOOK: Managerial Accounting, 14th edition by Garrison,
Noreen and Brewer.
COURSE OBJECTIVES: This course introduces the student to
managerial accounting. It focuses on the three major functions
of today’s management accountant: Planning operations,
controlling activities, and making decisions. It shows what kind
of information is available, where it can be obtained and how it
can be used to make decisions.
ATTENDANCE AND PARTICIPATION: Regular attendance and class
participation are expected.
ASSIGNMENTS: Assignments are due the day of the exam for the
chapters covered in that exam. Assignments are required to be
submitted on time.
MAKE-UP EXAMS POLICY: A student can take a make-up exam ONLY in
case of an emergency and ONLY if the instructor is notified
before the scheduled exam time.
ADA POLICY: There is an ADA policy to accommodate students with
protected disabilities. If you believe you are eligible, please
contact the Office for Students with Disabilities at
(323) 343-3140. The Instructor must receive written confirmation
from this office before accommodation is provided.
WITHDRAWAL POLICY: According to university policy, April 9 is
the last day to drop the class without the instructor’s
approval. Starting April 10, a student will be allowed to drop
only in cases of extreme emergencies. Significant written
documentation will be requested by the instructor. Failure to
attend class or poor performance does not constitute withdrawal
from the course.
