Who is he?
 Charlie Chaplin was an English film actor,
director, producer, writer, and composer!
 One of his appearances was in “The Little
Tramp” when he wore a gentlemen’s derby, a
cane, and a neatly kept mustache with baggy
trousers and oversized shoes.

 He had a granddaughter who was the actress
Dolores Chaplin.
 Born on April 16th, 1889 and died on
December 25th, 1997.

A.M.” and MANY others.
• He moved to an even better job in which he
made $670,000/year in the 1910s and 20s

 Charlie was married four different times.
 He played as “The Tramp” in almost all of his
movie/acting roles.
Marriage
 Charlie’s second wife, Lita, was 12 years old
when they first met.
 They had 2 children named Charles Jr. and
Sydney. They got married when they were 16
years old 1924. They soon divorced 3 years
later.
Special Honors
 In 1975, Charlie was knighted (became a “Sir”)
by Queen Elizabeth II just before his 86th
birthday.
 After being knighted by Queen Elizabeth II in
1975, Charlie died of natural causes at 4 a.m.
At the time, he was married to his wife Oona.
Death
 Charlie died of old age (same as natural
causes) and was a peaceful and calm death.
 Lady Chaplin wanted the funeral to be private
and restricted to the family. The burial would
be held in Switzerland however.

having an affair that resulted in the birth of a
son fathered by Leo Dryden, another Music

 At age 37, Charles Chaplin Sr. died from illness

 Charlie had 4 wives; Mildred Harris being the
first, Lita Grey being second, Paulette
Goddard being third, and Oona O’Neil being
his forth.
 Mildred (1st) Harris and Charlie got married
on November 26th, 1924. They had one son
named Norman Chaplin who, sadly died three
days after birth. The couple divorced in 1927.

 Paulette Goddard (3rd) and Charlie got
married on a trip near Japan and China in
1936. They made 2 films together “Modern
Times” and “The Great Dictator”. Divorced 6

 Oona O’Neil (4th) became married to Charlie in
June, 1943 and had 8 children between 18 years.
 The 8 children were Geraldine Chaplin (August
1st, 1944), Michael Chaplin (March 7th, 1946),
Josephine (March 28th, 1949), Victoria (May 19th,
1951), Eugene (August 23rd, 1953) Jane (May 23rd,
1957), Annette (December 3rd, 1959) and finally
Christopher (July 8th, 1962) Charlie had a total of
11 children between his 4 wives.
