Computer Fundamentals
By: Leila Villacorta
Essential Question:
1.


How can Excel be used to help you
communicate and interpret information?
Excel is a useful tool that can be used by
anyone and can help further explain or
interpret information.
Throughout the presentation I will
answer this question by providing
examples of different ways I have used
Excel in this class.
Standards:
Here’s a
thought…
CONTENT STANDARD:
Students use a variety of media and
formats to communicate information
and ideas effectively to multiple
audiences.
 The essential question of how Excel is
used to communicate or interpret ideas
relates to this content standard because
Excel is a tool used to express
information and ideas.

Problem Solving:



For my Word project the goal was to use my
Microsoft Word skills to make a Report on a
current Activist in the World.
For my Excel project the goal was to use the
skills I learned in class on how to use Excel to
make a presentation on my future collage careers.
For my PowerPoint project the goal was to
develop an alphabetical list of features and
reasons to visit a state within the U.S. and create
a professional and attractive presentation that
uses background theme, custom animations, and
transitions.
Connections: Relevance
The work in this class is
important because:
 It is important to know how
to use Word, PowerPoint, and
Excel for my other classes so
I can make attractive and
professional work.
 Also, it is good to know how
to use them so I can build on
and learn more about other
things on the computer.
Connections: Social
If there was no Excel, Word,
or PowerPoint it would be
difficult to show information 
for a presentation or any
case where you want to
express ideas and work.
 If no one had invented
computers the world would
be a lot different, it would be
really hard for scientist,
mathematicians, astronauts
and regular office people to
do things, kids would have to
find other things to do.

If the internet did not exist I
think a lot of people would
see things differently, for
example because of the
internet we can
communicate with friends
and family members and I
think people take that for
granted but if the internet
did not exist I think people
would be more grateful of
the things they have.
Connections: Applications
The work from this class connects to my life because I spend a lot
of my time on the computer, when I get older working with
computers is something I will like to do and this class has really
helped me to further my understanding on computer basics.
 The work from this class connects to the world because they are
constantly making innovations on computers and other things and
the computer is a really helpful tool that I think will be used for
many more years in the future.
 The work from this class connects
to my community because we are
a fast paced community that is part
of the most important city in the
country, with offices and businesses
it is important to know the basics of
a computer.

Vocabulary + Reading:
The CHEC 7 literacy strategies
I used in this class was
summarize, analyze, using direct
quotes, and citing internet
resources on my work.
 My work meets these standards
because I used these strategies
when I went over my project
and fixing grammatical errors,
also when I added that quotes
from my activist, and when I
added the website I got it from.

Thanks you all!

I have completed my presentation, thank
you for letting me present my work this
morning, I will be happy to answer any
