Summer French Writing Project: Mon Été
Due: Wednesday, September 9
Task: Take TWO different pictures that took place during your summer and describe what is taking place in EACH
picture. Use the vocabulary you learned throughout the year and your vocabulary resource packet. DO NOT OVERUSE
AN ONLINE TRANSLATOR. Overuse of an online translator will result in a ZERO. You will also have to resubmit and will
not receive full credit. You have only learned to speak in the present, so describe the picture in the present and NOT the
past.
The following should be done for BOTH pictures
 Include a clear picture
AT LEAST 5 sentences per picture. You may include more
if you wish.
Possible sentence ideas:
 State the date (Aujourd’hui est…)
 State the location
 State who is with you, are they friends or family
members? Describe the people
 What are you and/or the people you are with
doing?
 Describe the area
Use the draft space below to create your first draft. Review and edit your first draft AND THEN e-mail me your second
draft at bautista82784@gmail.com. I will revise your work so that you can make your CREATIVE final copy.

Dear Future 8th Grade Scholar,
It is essential that you review your vocabulary over the summer in order to retain information and be better
prepared for the 8th grade year.
In order to aid in your summer studies, I have attached a vocabulary packet. Please be sure to study your packet
and use your skills throughout the summer. In addition to the packet, you may:
 Create flashcards (Take them along bus and car rides)
 Practice speaking with friends and family members.
 Teach others!
 Look up YouTube videos in French to practice listening.
 Try changing the movies you watch to the French language with English subtitles to practice identifying words.
 Study at least 10-15 minutes daily!
Summer Writing Project: Due Thursday September 4, 2014. Read the attached instructions. Please submit your
rough drafts as soon as possible. Rough draft deadline is August 22nd! After this date it is not guaranteed that I will
revise your work and you are responsible for revisions and must still turn in the final draft on time. Please note it may take
me up to a week to reply. The final draft will be your first project grade for the quarter.

DO NOT LOSE YOUR VOCABULARY PACKET!!! It will be a useful resource for the 2015-2016 academic
school year. I will not make extra copies. I recommend you make your own extra copies of the packet if you know
you tend to misplace your paperwork.
FRENCH SCHOOL SUPPLY LIST: 1 DURABLE PLASTIC folder, 1 DURABLE-3 ring binder (not the floppy binders), loose
leaf reinforcement tape, 1 small SPIRAL notebook for inside your binder (if you have a neat notebook from 7th
grade you can continue to use the same notebook), 5 dividers, a packet of loose leaf paper, writing utensils, a pack
of printing paper (white OR colored), a set of dry erase markers (The last two items will be collected and remain in
class.) You should have an agenda/planner to use for ALL of your classes- these sell out quickly so please try to get
one in the beginning of summer.
OPTIONAL: Mini French-English dictionary, a stapler, color pencils, crayons and/or markers.
