Read the text and answer the questions carefully.
Owls
An owl is a bird. Owls live in almost
every country of the world and can be
found all year round.
Owls are nocturnal. This means that
they sleep during the day and hunt for
food at night. Owls are predators. This
means they hunt the food that they eat.
Owls hunt for mice and other small
mammals, insects, and even fish. This makes them carnivores
as they only eat meat.
Owls are well adapted for
hunting. Their soft, fluffy
feathers are specially designed
to make their flight nearly silent.
They have very good hearing,
which helps them to hunt well in
the darkness. The sharp hooked
beaks and claws, called talons,
make it very easy to tear apart
prey quickly, although owls also
eat some prey whole. The colour
of their feathers also helps them to stay hidden. This is called
camouflage. Did you know that a group of owls is called a
parliament?
