International Education Services Skills Register
Registration of Interest
Registration of interest is compiled annually. Registration will be valid from 1 July of one year, to 30 June of the
following year – ie, annually, for a financial year.
Short term vacancies within International Education Services (IES) arise from time to time for
positions at a range of levels. Eligible employees are invited to register an expression of interest for
short term appointments for up to 6 months or two terms.
About International Education Services
International Education Services (IES) is responsible for providing leadership in the development
and management of international education in South Australian government schools.
The IES vision is for DECD, trading as South Australian Government Schools, to be recognised as a
competitive exporter of quality international education products and services.
IES services include:
 promoting and selling DECD school places, study tours and adult training programs overseas
 placing overseas students in SA government schools
 arranging homestay accommodation for full-fee paying students
 quality assuring schools and homestay providers hosting international students
 providing an enrolment service for dependants of tertiary international students
 managing DECD exchange and scholarship programs
 regulating SA student exchange organisations and schools
Programs managed by IES:
 International Student Program for fee-paying overseas students
 Study Tours for groups of fee-paying overseas students
 Adult Training Programs for overseas teachers, school leaders and public servants
 Dependants of International Tertiary Students Enrolment for both fee-paying and fee-exempt
dependants
 DECD Exchange & Scholarship Programs for teachers
 SA Student Exchange Registration Committee which registers and regulates student
exchange organisations and schools in all sectors.

The ESOS Act and associated legislation is the legal framework governing the responsibility of
education institutions towards overseas students
Commonwealth Register for Institutions and Courses for Overseas Students (CRICOS)
The CRICOS register lists all Australian education providers that offer courses to people studying in
Australia on student visas and the courses offered.
Positions within International Education Services
An expression of interest is invited from applicants for Seconded Teacher positions.
Eligibility:
Education Act, Seconded Teacher Levels 1-3
Applicants for Seconded Teacher positions must hold a SA teacher registration or be able to register
to teach in SA, and either be a permanent DECD employee or meet DECD minimum employment
requirements before taking up an appointment, which includes:
An active online application for employment as a teacher with the DECD Employable Teacher
Register, South Australian teacher registration, a cleared on-line employment declaration, Reporting
Abuse and Neglect Training (previously known as Mandatory Notification), First Aid certification and
Australian residency or a work permit for the period of the position.
Successful applicants will remain under the Education Act, but be appointed to the following
conditions:
STL2 & 3 - Retain Teacher conditions if initial appointment is for up to 1 term. For 1 term and over
conditions are similar to Public Sector Act conditions.
Specific duties will vary with the role. All positions are accountable to the Director, International
Education.
Location
Based in the Education Centre, Ground Floor West, 31 Flinders Street, Adelaide, the work may
involve out of hours work, interstate and overseas travel.
Term of Appointment: Maximum of six months.
At the conclusion of their appointment, permanent employees of DECD will be placed according to
the terms of their substantive appointment and the policies in operation at the time.
Applicants who are not permanent employees of DECD or are from another public sector
organisation do not hold placement rights with DECD at the conclusion of the appointment.
