Honors Program Senior Portfolio
Evaluation Rubric
Student: Please fill out the top part, and follow the guidelines below when compiling the
portfolio (Note: “Comments” are for the committee to fill out). This is due TWO MONTHS
before the end of the semester you will graduate: Oct. 15 in fall, and Feb. 28 for spring. If the
portfolio is not acceptable, the committee will give you a chance to revise. We request that we
keep this copy on file, so please make a second copy for yourself (or we can photocopy your
copy). You may also submit an E-Portfolio, creating clearly-labelled folders of the sections.

5) Reflective Essay (4-6 pp. double spaced) describing your experience in the Honors
Program. Also address how you specifically met the four Program goals (see Handbook,
p. 2) in a paragraph each.

6) H100 Work: Open with an explanation of the course theme, course assignments, and your
experience (1p.). Include the syllabus, assignments, & all graded work including the
Research paper (the graded copies with instructor comments, photocopied); other course
material, organized and explained, may be included as well, simply lifting everything
from the H100 Notebook.

7) 5 Honors Options, in chronological order with labelled tabs for each, with class and
teacher identified: For each H-option, open with a description of the course topic and
your Honors-option work: how it was determined, what you did, how you disseminated
it, and what you learned. (1-2 DS pp). Include the H-option Evaluation form filled out by
your teacher (their comments on the assignment as well). Then include the Honors work.

8) Honors Senior Project: Open with a description of how the project was selected, who
mentored you, what time frame it encompassed, what you learned, etc. Include
representative parts of the project, including some drafts, notes, pictures, comments from
community members (for service learning), a bibliography (for research papers)—whatever
will clarify and enhance the project outcomes for the committee. Then include the project
itself or a representation of it (concert program, DVD, pictures, etc.) End with the
instructor’s H499 Evaluation form.

9) 5 Cultural Activities, in chronological order: For each, identify the date, event, IUE
organization which sponsored the event, and then describe the event and how it expanded
your cultural experience. (1-2 DS pp. each) You are welcome to include pictures and
programs. If you participated in more than five, list the others in the Senior Checklist.
