Simple interest
While solving the questions on simple interest worksheet we need to remember;
the formula for calculating simple interest (S.I.) = (P × R × T)/100 and, formula for calculating
amount (A) = P + I
1. How much interest does a $318 investment earn at 9% over one year?
4. If the balance at the end of eight years on an investment of $630 that has been invested at a
rate of 9% is $1,083.60, how much was the interest?
2. What sum would yield an interest of $36 in 3 years at 3% p.a.?
3. At what rate per cent per annum will $250 amount to $330 in 4 years?
4. At what rate per cent per annum will $400 yield an interest of $78 in 11/2 years ?

7. Ken borrowed $2000 from Sam at 8% per annum. After 6 year he cleared the amount by

4. Marked price of a shawl is $960. It was sold at a discount of 15%. Find the discount allowed
on the shawl. Also find its selling price.

marked price of the quilt.
7. A shopkeeper offer 16% discount to the customer and still makes a profit of 20%. What is the
Cost Price of a pair of jeans marked $1190.8. What price should a trader mark on an article
which cost him $1080 so as to gain 25% after allowing a discount of 25%.
9. A shopkeeper marked his good 25% above the Cost Price and allows a discount of 16% on it.

2. The price of a sweater was slashed from $ 960 to $ 816 by a shopkeeper in the winter season.
