At the Universitat Politècnica de
Catalunya (UPC), teaching, research
and technology transfer occur in four
major areas of knowledge:
Engineering, Architecture, Sciences
and Technology. The UPC is a
renowned public university that offers
specialised bachelor’s, master’s and
doctoral degree courses that are
designed to produce competent
professionals who are committed to
society, innovative, entrepreneurial
and able to meet future challenges
with solutions that are technologically

A benchmark in various areas of basic and applied research, the UPC
is a key agent in the progress of an economy that is increasingly based
on knowledge and innovation. A leader in many areas, the UPC stands
out in the main international rankings of scientific output thanks to the
national and international activity of its research groups, and to its
network of cutting-edge facilities, laboratories and equipment.

It is crucial to generate knowledge, innovation
and technological development, but it is even
more so to make them available to meet
the needs and demands of society. The UPC
is aware of this challenge and thus positions
itself as a driver of innovation and
the preferred technology partner
of companies and organisations,
with which it works on projects
and builds alliances.
This role is based on the numerous agreements
and projects that are being promoted by the
research groups, centres and laboratories; the
creation of new technology-based companies; the
generation and exploitation of patents; and the
scientific and technical services that the UPC
makes available to its community in order to
engender progress and employment.

The UPC is a key agent in the ecosystem of
technology transfer to the industrial sector
and it collaborates with EURECAT, the Catalan
provider of technology to industry.
As a public institution, the UPC is involved in the progress of the society of which
it forms part and is firmly committed to making it more open, fairer and more
sustainable. The principles of participation, transparency and equal opportunities
permeate the activities of the University and are present in the projects involving
development cooperation, sustainability, volunteering and the promotion of
scientific culture that are launched by its students, teaching staff and
administrative and service staff every year.
