Description of the Module: Understanding the Jewish American Immigrant Experience
Educational Objectives of the Module (should constitute a minimum of 12% of the course):
1. Demonstrate awareness of the histories, realities, worldviews, and experiences of the cultures and peoples of the
world and their effect on immigration and the American experience.
2. Explore the social, religious, and personal perspectives of a diverse society.
3. Identify the origins of ethnic stratification, minority responses to subordination, and the relationship between
class and ethnicity.
4. Analyze contemporary issues and those cultural facets that lead us to conformity and conflict.
5. Understand the unique American experiences of specific groups – African Americans, Hispanic Americans,
Asian Americans, Native Americans, European Americans, and Arab Americans.
