SWC 2015 - Allowance Information
• In most cased the following formula is used to calculate
payments from allowances
• ((annual allowance x pay factor)/12) x applicable months
e.g.
• For an allowance of £1200, with a pay factor of 1 and
start and end dates indicating three months
• Payment = ((£1200 x 1)/12) x 3
• Payment = £100 x 3
• Payment = £300
SWC 2015 - Spot Allowances
• Most schools have £100 and £26 have what they
consider to spot allowances for their support staff
• FMS want this expressed as 12 times the amount for 1
month
• Personnel wants this expressed as the amount over a
month
• SWC asks if it should divide the amount by 12 or use the
actual amount

to treat allowances as Base Pay if
• they use a code beginning with ~ and
• the allowance is open on Census Day
