10/1 Bell Ringer
Step 1: Pick up vocabulary sheet, notes, 2 pieces
of paddy paper, and a ruler from front of room.
Step 2: Answer the following on your bell ringer
sheet:
1. When you look in the mirror what do you see?
How far away does that image appear to be?
2. 2 lines that intersect at 90 degree angles are
what type of lines?
Homework: Fill out Test Analysis Sheet (First Period)

10/1 Agenda
I CAN define components of a transformation
(line of symmetry, pre-image, image) and use
them to perform and label a reflection.

Activity
3. Guided Practice – Agile Mind Example 2
4. Independent Practice – Label a diagram
Mirror, Mirror, On the Wall…
• Mirror Example
• When you look in the mirror, what do you see?
– Your reflection!
• How far away does that reflection appear to be?
– Same distance you are standing from the mirror!
• What’s directly in between you and your
reflection?
– The mirror. That’s why we call the mirror the line of
symmetry.
Mirror, Mirror, On the Wall…
• Between you and your reflection, who is the
image?
– You are the pre-image and your reflection is the
image
• So what is a reflection?
– It’s just a flip over a line (or in this case a plane)
A flip over a line

– Create the reflection of a point as a class
• Page 6
– Answer questions
• Page 7
– Define the reflection in correct math notation!
Paddy Paper Reflection #2
• Step 1: Draw a line down the middle of your
paper
• Step 2: Draw a triangle on one side of your line.
(Label the 3 points as A, B, and C)
• Step 3: Fold along the line
• Step 4: Trace the triangle (label new points as
your image!)
• Step 5: Measure the distance from C to the line
of symmetry and then measure C’ to the line.
• Step 6: Answer Challenge Questions.
• STEP 7: IN THE LAST 2 MINUTES MAKE SURE MR.
