15. Legislative: law making branch of govt; House and Senate
16. Executive: enforces the laws; headed by the President
17. Judicial: interprets the laws, headed by Supreme Court
18. Checks and Balances: system that keeps any one branch from having too much power
19. James Madison: Father of the Constitution and author of the Bill of Rights
20. Thomas Jefferson: author of the Declaration of Independence, and first Secretary of State
