Mr. Clawson.
I. Teens are between the ages of 13 and 18. During this time period a Teen’s body will go
through a series of events. Teens and young children will go to a pediatrician from the time they
are born to the time they are adults. The most current event of majority of the teenagers in the
United States is: Teenage Pregnancy.
II. Teen Pregnancy
A Some Teenagers don’t think before they get pregnant, some even get pregnant on purpose but
without knowing how hard it is to care for a baby. Some get pregnant on accident, while some
get pregnant by being raped, molested or sexually abused.
Some reasons for your choice
A. There is a lot of pregnant teenagers in the U.S. some as young as 13. People had become
pregnant and I would have never accepted them to become pregnant. Many high school
students have dropped out or just went to school pregnant.
B. A lot of people have been getting Pregnant and people are asking the question “Why are
there so many pregnant young girls??
II. Your Thesis
Main points of the research on your thesis
A. According to Planned Parenthood” 1 in 4 teens are to pregnant by the age of 18. Only
86% of the declines in teen pregnancies have occurred from 1995 to 2002 after that the
rates started to hit the roof, Statics show that low-income teens that are Black & Hispanic
teens are most likely to get pregnant.
B. Teens in other foreign countries have a lower pregnancy rate then teens in the U.S. In
Britain & France most schools offer better extensive sex programs. Parents and others
believe that the lack of not doing proper everyday education can be very troubling and
hard especially for low- income teens. Lack of school can even increase the problems for
teens in the years down the road. When teenagers get condoms or any type of birth
control teens feel as if it is ok to have sex because you’re being safe when having sex.
Sex education, birth control and condoms have even some pregnancy rates.
C. Abstinence is the best and safe way to reduce pregnancy’s. Even though some abstinence
programs seem to do more harm than good. People say that the more teens talk and learn
about sex the more they’re going to want to do it
II. Second significant point of your thesis
A. Teenagers are trying to have children at a young age and are even selling themselves for
money or even drugs. Some teenagers do not know that when having any type of sex
protected or even unprotected they are putting themselves and their partners at risk for
STD’s and HIV or AIDS. The CDC says that Females had the highest rates then: males
in Chlamydia, Gonorrhea and Primary & Secondary Syphilis of 2008
B. Teenagers should get tested for a variety of STD’s. Teens should even get tested if they
have a steady relationship cause their boyfriend and girlfriend might be cheating and
people never know if they even have an STD because with majority of STD’s don’t have
symptoms and the ones that do have symptoms people don’t even pay attention to.
C. In the past 5 years a shot called the Gardasil “ Human Papillomavirus Shot” The shot
protect against cervical cancer and other HPV viruses. The side effects of the shot are
given by {www. Gardasil.com} the side effects are pain, swelling, itching, bruising,
redness at the injection site, headache, fever and more.
III. Third significant point of your thesis
A. When Teens first learn about sex is when they are in 4th grade because around this time is
when their bodies is going through changes. Changes like puberty, menstrual cycle,
development of body hair & hormones developing asexually.
B. When teens first hear about sex they get the idea that “Hey since they want to talk to us
about it then it must be ok to do” When also talking to us about sex they should also tell
us how is important how we be protected and how to do it when we are much older.
C. When we get to a certain age they should come back and talk to students on how
important right now in junior high and high school it is not to get pregnant and what
would be affected.
IV. Fourth significant point of your thesis
A. Telling your parents that you or your partner is pregnant is the hardest thing a teenager
has ever had to do. Some teenagers are scared to tell their parents because they are scared
of their parents reactions. Some parents may react really angry, disappointed or some just
might not even care.
B. Some parents will put their teenager out if they get become pregnant because parents do
not want a baby in their house while the parent is their teenage child. Some parents might
let them stay and help them take care of the baby.
C. Some teenagers might decide on their own if they want to keep the baby or get an
abortion. The price of abortions are about $320 to $500. At 16 weeks, a surgical abortion
costs about $500 to $700, At 20 weeks or later, a surgical abortion costs about $1,000 to
$2,000 or more. {Cost Helper.com}
Conclusion:
I.
Hopefully teenagers will get a wake-up call and be more responsible and see that
having babies at young ages is not all easy !!! They need to get a clue and understand
that babies aren’t like “Barbie dolls” they are so much of a responsibility Teenagers
should be buying movie tickets and not diapers and wipes. If teenagers choose to be
teenage parents then hopefully they can do the right things to take good care of their
baby.
I personally wouldn’t want be a teenage parent only because I currently am in my last year of
high school and wouldn’t want anything more then high school to worry about. If I had a
baby I would have to go to school, pay rent, pay bills, and make sure my child has everything
it needs. Teenagers should enjoy these years and not have to deal with parenthood and
adulthood while also trying to enjoy the “golden years” Abortion cost should go to something
else instead of paying for a mistake.
