Purpose of Position:
Provide administrative assistance for the pastor, serve as primary receptionist for the church, and administer
church payroll and bookkeeping.
Basic Qualifications:
Education/Training: Associates degree in Business or related field is preferred.
Skills: The following skills should be well developed and demonstrated effectiveness is essential: Interpersonal
relationships (staff, membership, community); strong written and oral communications, task organization,
computer, software, and bookkeeping proficiency, office equipment use; ability to maintain a high degree of
confidentiality and the propensity to work within a Christian environment.
Experience: Three plus years prior experience working in business office environment is preferred. Acceptable
accounting and business practices required. Preference given to applicants with previous experience in
QuickBooks and FlexPay.
Responsibilities:
18-20 hours
* Serve as the primary receptionist for the church
* Be flexible in order to meet the challenges and changing needs of the church and take on tasks as assigned by
supervisor
* General Responsibilities include:
1. Worship Bulletins/ Newsletter
2. Receptionist
3. Maintain General Calendar and church directory
4. Update website notices as needed
4. Prepare Annual Charge Conference Reports/Booklets
5. Phone-tree
6. Notify leased companies for maintenance on workroom machines and purchase office supplies.
7. Use established Good Neighbor Fund procedures to initiate responses to need requests.
8. Correspondence; notices (meetings, birthdays, visitors, membership transfers) wedding, baptism and
membership certificates, etc.
4-6 hours
* Oversee primary bookkeeping functions: accounts receivable and accounts payable.
* Administer payroll, reimbursement, and maintain church employee payroll records.
* Provide monthly financial reports for the Church Council and staff pertaining to the church's performance
against the annual budget.
* Complete reports required by the annual conference for both Charge Conference and EOY Report.

Trinity United Methodist Church in Winston Salem, NC seeks an Office Administrator for parttime position (approximately 25 hours per week). The Office Administrator is accountable to the
Senior Pastor and provides administrative support to the Pastor, other staff and to the
congregation. Applicant must have a commitment to and love for Jesus Christ. Knowledge and
appreciation of the United Methodist Church, its practices and teachings are highly desirable.
Previous experience in a church setting is also preferred. A personal maturity and genuine
commitment to Christian ministry that demonstrates an enthusiastic joy for sharing one’s
personal gifts, talents, abilities and interests through the local church’s ministry are key to
success in this position.
A high degree of proficiency in Word, Outlook, Excel, Quick Books/bookkeeping and church
management software is mandatory. The Office Administrator maintains all payroll, financial
and membership records and prepares reports as required. The position interacts with many
people both on the phone and in person. The ideal candidate possesses a positive attitude and
works to the highest standards of excellence, integrity, and confidentiality and is highly
organized, detail oriented, with excellent verbal and written communication skills and the ability
