RADIOLOGIC TECHNOLOGY PROGRAM APPLICATION PROCESS
BEGINNING WITH THE CLASS ENTERING IN 2013:
The ARRT requirement for eligibility to take the national registry examination is the
completion of an Associate’s Degree.
Program Prerequisites
Prerequisite for admission to the School of Radiologic Technology is an Associate’s
Degree in any field. (See Academic degree requirement, below). The degree must include
Math for Allied Health, College Algebra or higher and English Composition I. The
applicant must have passed the Math and English courses with a grade of C (2.5) or
higher.
NOTE: Applicants who are nearing completion of the degree may be considered,
providing no more than 6 credit hours remain upon entering the program. Students will
have one year after entering the program to complete all required credits for the
Associate’s Degree. Failure to complete the Associate’s Degree by the end of the
2nd semester of the program will result in dismissal from the program.
Application Process
Applications are accepted until December 15 for classes beginning in June of the following

Please enclose with your completed application a non-refundable $25.00 application fee
and a $50.00 aptitude testing fee. Applications, along with OFFICIAL COPIES of high
school and college transcripts must be mailed to:

Testing and Observations
The aptitude test required for prospective student is the Heath Occupations Basic
Entrance Test (HOBET). This test focuses on math, grammar, and reading
comprehension. If test results and grades on submitted transcripts are acceptable,
applicants will be invited to spend a day in observation in the WMC radiology department
and participate in a preliminary interview with school staff.
Final interviews
Applicants are selected for final interviews based on a point system which scores the
applicants grades, scores on the aptitude test and preliminary interview. Final interviews
are with a selection committee. Decisions for admission to the program are based on a
point system. Applicants are scored on completion of prerequisites, average of the
English and Math HOBET scores, interaction with staff and students, oral and written
communication and other criteria. Students are selected for admission to the program
based on a point system.

Upon acceptance to the program, selected applicants will be required to place a
non-refundable deposit of $200 to confirm their intention to enter the program. The
deposit will be credited toward the first semester tuition fee of $2000 which is due 2 weeks
prior to the first day of the first semester.
Tuition and Other Fees
Tuition for the program is $8,000 ($2,000 payable each semester).Books, uniforms, and
lab fees are not included in the tuition. 1st semester tuition is due 2 weeks prior to the first
day of class.
Additional fees:
$800 book fee
$40.00 lab fee per semester
$500 expense of mandatory seminar in 4th semester
$170.00 heath assessment fee

Transfer Students
Radiologic Technology Programs are not required to accept transfer students.
Individual cases may be considered.
Scholarships
There are scholarships available while in the radiography program.
• WMC Ladies Auxiliary Scholarships- accepting applications from January to
April 15th. Scholarships are awarded in May.
• Virginia Society of Radiologic Technologists (VSRT)
Applicants must be in a radiography program 6 months before applying for
this scholarship.
