NEC UNVEILS IPTV TUNER MODULE FOR NEC LCD
PUBLIC DISPLAYS
NEC IPTV Tuner enhances successful option slot accessory line-up and
guarantees customer’s flexibility, ensuring a future-proof investment.
SYDNEY – November 4, 2010 – NEC Australia, a leading provider of commercial LCD displays,
data projectors and innovative digital signage solutions, announced today a new accessory for
its LCD public displays, the DVB-T Board, an analogue, digital and internet protocol tuner
module - a breakthrough in the market for an integrated option slot card.
The tuner card allows
users to capture streaming HD video content via the built-in expansion slot of NEC's P and X
Series LCD Public Display products.
The new DVB-T Board analogue/digital tuner card enables users to capture network streamed
video content while still acting as a standard digital/analogue tuner. The NEC Tuner is a simple
and cost-effective way of receiving and TV signals on a commercial public display. Thanks to the
option slot integrated within the display the user does not need any additional cables or external
devices and can operate the tuner conveniently using the display's remote control. TV Channels
can also be changed via LAN through the built-in HTTP server which is extremely convenient for
central control of multiple screens.
The addition of Internet Protocol television (IPTV) capabilities allows the DVB-T Board to capture
and display programming through an encoded video stream and supports common video and
audio decoding formats. The DVB-T Board is a device designed for IT networks where streaming
video can be broadcast, whether it be one channel or multiple via unicast or multicast
broadcasting. These environments include corporate buildings, public information areas,
educational facilities and airports where the IT infrastructure is setup so that users can store
video content at the server's location and stream to the displays' locations throughout the facility.
Managing signals throughout the network from a single device means that it is easier for the user
to handle and it saves money, too.
“The DVB-T Board provides three solutions in one single module. Users can receive Digital and
Analogue Terrestrial Television signals as well as IPTV via the option slot on their display. This
ensures that your NEC Display is capable of receiving video via past, present and future video
transmission methods” said Steven Macdonald, National Sales Manager for NEC’s Display
Solutions division. “This user-friendly solution represents a major advantage in particular for the
areas of digital signage, education and corporate in-house information and entertainment.”
