Gather 5 paper plates and
partition each plate into
equal groups. Your
groups need to be halves,
thirds, fourths, fifths, and
eighths. Label each
fractional part.
Develop a story structure planner
(an example is attached) for your
own story. It is completely up to
you as to the genre and subject
of the story. The planner must be
turned in to receive credit for this
option.
Make up your own song or
poem. The topic is up to you. Use
as many adjectives as possible.
The lyrics must be written down.
Highlight or underline all
adjectives. Turn lyrics in for
credit.
Be creative in creating
your own ruler. Label the
inches on the ruler.
Don’t forget to include
half inches and quarter
inches too!
Create a story of your own. The
genre and subject is up to you.
The story requires : setting, main
characters, and plot (sequence of
events with a problem and
solution). This story can be
created by developing a story
structure planner (see
assignment above).
Create a painting or sketch.
The topic is up to you. Label
the artwork with at least 10
adjectives describing colors,
sizes, textures, and so on.
Please label parts of the
artwork neatly.
Use grid paper to create your
very own island! Include all of
the things you would like to
have on your island. Find and
label the area and perimeter
or each place on your island.
You must have at least 5
places!
Locate a nonfiction text about a
biome. Bring it to school with post-it
notes labeling assorted text features
such as : captions, photos, main
headings, subheadings, diagrams,
graphs, glossary, index, etc. At least
4 different text features must be
identified and labeled.
Create 10 flashcards for a
Grammar station. On one side of
the card, record an action verb or
a verb of being. On the reverse
side, identify if your word is a
verb of action or a verb of being.
Index cards would be great to use
for this activity since they are
sturdy.
