9.1. Present Simple-Reading1
James is a TV reporter. He lives in Boston.
Everyday he gets up very early in the morning,
has a quick breakfast and then goes to work by train.
His office is in Arcon TV & Radio building in the center of the city.
He arrives at his office around half past eight. He takes his program
for the day and starts work. He usually leaves his office at seven
o'clock but sometimes his work does not finish so he stays late.
Does he like his job? Yes, he likes his job very much because he meets
different people.

Highlights-1: “I work” but “he works” “They enjoy” but “s/he enjoys” “It rains”
I work in a bank. My sister works in a shop.
John lives in New York. His parents live in Dallas.
It rains a lot in fall.
Highlights-2: “I have” but he / she / it has:

Allison has a meeting every day.
I have a motorcycle and It has three wheels.

Highlights-4: always / usually / often / sometimes / seldom / never + present simple
I always drive to work.

( X I drive always to work. Incorrect!)

My parents live near us. I often visit my parents.

London. She lives with her sister.
Everyday, she gets up at six and goes jogging. Then, she takes a shower,
has breakfast and leaves for work. She does not drive to work.
She walks to the Company building. She usually starts her practice at
nine o'clock. She stops for a quick lunch and then continues until five.
Christine and her friends perform on
Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays.
Of course, she likes her job!

He works at HEALTH Clinic in Chicago.
Everyday,
he
gets

o'clock

breakfast.
He reads the newspapers very quickly and then he cycles to work.

At noon, he has a quick lunch and continues to work until five o'clock.
Sometimes he works until very late hours. But that's not a problem for
him because he has got his own room in the clinic, so he sleeps there.
Unfortunately,
he
does
not
have
much
free
time
but
that does not make him feel sorry.

Dear Penfriend,
Hi! How are you? Now, I want to write about my simple day.
I am an early bird!  I get up at 6 o’clock every morning. I take a shower and
have breakfast. Then I get ready for school. My father drives me to school.
I have an English lesson at 9.15. After the lesson, I do my homework in the library.
I eat lunch at school cafe at 12.00 noon. After lunch I go to the park with my
friends. We play basketball. Later on, I go home, tidy my room and have a rest.
At 4 o’clock, I go to the gym and do exercise. Then at home, I have a shower and
I eat my dinner at 6.30. After dinner, I study my lessons and then I watch TV.
Do I go to bed late? No I don’t. I go to sleep at about 10.30. That’s all.
