The Gift Of Edification -- 1 Thess. 5:9-11



1 Thessalonians 5:9
“For God has not
destined us for wrath,
but for obtaining
salvation through our
Lord Jesus Christ…”
Do we understand
this?
•
1 Thessalonians 1:910 – “…you turned to
God from idols to
serve a living and true
God, and to wait for
His Son from heaven,
whom He raised from
the dead, that is
Jesus, who rescues
us from the wrath to
come.
•
“O Lord, do not
rebuke me in
Your anger,
nor chasten
me in Your
wrath.”

“For the wrath of God is
revealed from heaven
against all ungodliness
and unrighteousness of
men who suppress the
truth in
unrighteousness….”
Romans 2:5-8
•“…But because of your
stubbornness and
unrepentant heart you are
storing up wrath for yourself
in the day of wrath…who will
render to each person
according to his deeds…to
those who are selfishly
ambitious and do not obey
the truth…wrath and
indignation.”

Let no one deceive
you with empty words,
for because of these
things the wrath of
God comes upon the
sons of disobedience.


To seek His grace
“Whoever thinks he
can smile at God’s
wrath will never
praise Him
eternally for His
grace.”
Leon Morris


We are involved!
Philippians 2:12: “So
then, my beloved,
just as you have
always obeyed, not
as in my presence
only, but now much
more in my absence,
work out your
salvation with fear
and trembling….”

1 Thessalonians
5:10 – “…who
died for us, so
that whether we
are awake or
asleep, we will
live together with
Him.”


He died FOR us
2 Corinthians 5:14-15 -- For
the love of Christ controls
us, having concluded this,
that one died for all,
therefore all died; and He
died for all, so that they who
live might no longer live for
themselves, but for Him who
died and rose again on their
behalf.

“He who believes
in the Son has
eternal life; but he
who does not
obey the Son will
not see life, but
the wrath of God
abide on him.”




While we were
helpless Christ died
for the ungodly.
We have been
justified by His blood
Saved from the wrath
of God through Him
Reconciled and saved
by His life

1 Thessalonians 5:11
– “Therefore
encourage one
another and build up
one another, just as
you also are doing.”




To call alongside
Like what Jesus promised
about the Holy Spirit
John 14:16 – “I will ask the
Father, and He will give
you another Helper, that
He may be with you
forever….”
Helper = PARAKLETOS

“In a world where bad deeds are celebrated
and good deeds relegated
to page 49 of the paper,
Where first place goes to push and shove
and the cost of things is put above
the cost of time together.
From time to time, the best of us
Reach out and touch the rest of us.”

Did you hear
about the one
talent man
who finally
figured out his
talent?

“But encourage
one another day
after day, as long
as it is still called
“Today,” so that
none of you will
be hardened by
the deceitfulness
of sin.”
