Write a text to present John. Approximately 150 words
Use the information card below.
First name: John
Last name: Peterson
Nickname: Mr. Happy
Birth date: June 5
Birthplace: Vancouver
Siblings: Jane and Jordan
Favourite food: Lasagna
Favourite month: December
Favourite activity: drawing
This is John Peterson. He is my neighbour. John is disabled, but he is a
very joyful and happy person. That’s why everybody calls him Mr. Happy.
Mr. Happy was born on June 5, 2005 in Vancouver. He has a big brother Jordan
and a baby sister Jane.
Last Saturday was Mr. Happy’s birthday. We had a lasagna party.
Everybody knows that lasagna is John’s favourite food. His mom makes the best
lasagna in the whole world. I gave Mr. Happy a set of colouring pencils for his
birthday. He was excited. He is very good at drawing. He can draw anything. He
even won a drawing contest when he was only five! Can you imagine that?
John’s favourite month is December, because Christmas is in December.
For John, Christmas is the time of giving. He is a very generous boy. He visits
other disabled kids like himself; he brings them toys and he draws special
pictures for them. He makes many children happy. Maybe this is the other
reason we all call him Mr. Happy.

Exercise #42

Highlight the following information:
- opinions and capabilities
Kelly: Oh no, I think we’re lost. Let’s find a gas station and ask for directions.
John: Let me look at my map first. I’m sure we can find the hotel.
Kelly: We have a GPS and we still can’t find it. I don’t think your map can help.
John: Let me see. The hotel is supposed to be on School Street. But there IS no
School Street. According to the map, the hotel is on Oak Street.
Kelly: I think they changed the name of the street and that’s why the GPS
can’t find it.
John: Try entering the old name. Maybe it will recognise Oak Street.
