Directions:
 Please choose (8) news articles or (8) news reports or (8) magazine articles or have a
mixture of them (3 news articles/3 magazine articles/2 news reports) that directly deal
with a global topic (problem that both the United States and other countries are facing).
For example,
1. News article that might talk about immigration and the pros/cons of the issue
2. News report that might talk about euthanasia and the pros/cons of the issue
3. Magazine article that might talk about Sweat Shops
4. News article that might talk about synthetic biology
5. News report about aquaculture
6. Magazine article that might talk about something that is impacting the
environment
Remember: Only choose (8) total. Do not choose (8) news articles, (8) news reports, or
(8) Magazine articles because that would equal (24) reports.

Once you have chosen your (8) pieces, then you need to list:
1. The authors name (source) bullet style format
a. Then, in complete sentences tell me if the source is credible (2-3
sentences below the author’s name and the publisher’s name. Questions
you might ask yourself: do they have a degree in the field they are
writing about; are they working in the field that they are discussing; have
they written anything else about the topic outside of the article you are
reading? Are they bias?
2. The name of the publisher: for example, if there was an article in Time
Magazine, you would list Time Magazine as the publisher, and the author
who actually wrote the article. If it is a News report, then list the station
(Fox News, CNN, BBC) and the person who is reporting the information.
Bullet style format
3. Summarize the article in a paragraph (1 paragraph for each article/report)
4. Tell me what you think are the strengths and weakness of the article. Do
they have facts, statistics, emotional appeals, ethos, etc. (1 paragraph)
5. Tell me what you believe to be true about the topic you just read. (1
paragraph)
