Reach and impact
The role supports the International Finance team in providing an
effective financial accounting and reporting service to the
International Division and is responsible for providing
administrative support to the International Finance department.
Context
The British Red Cross (BRC) helps people in crisis, whoever and wherever they are. We
are part of a global voluntary network, responding to conflicts, natural disasters and
individual emergencies. We enable vulnerable people in the UK and abroad to prepare
for and withstand emergencies in their own communities. And when the crisis is over, we
help them to recover and move on with their lives. Within the UK, the British Red Cross
operates through about 3,000 staff and over 30,000 volunteers.
Scope
The post holder is managed by the International Financial Accounting Manager and is
responsible for supporting the International Division in financial accounting and reporting.
The post also requires interaction with the wider Finance and Business Development
division.
Overall purpose of the role
To support the International Financial Accounting Manager to provide an effective
financial accounting and reporting service to the International Division and provide a high
level of administrative and office support to the International Finance department.

Main responsibilities and duties
1.
Financial Management and Systems
> To support the International Financial Accounting Manager in producing
International Division specific schedules and analysis for the year-end and interim
external audits as required;
> To process monthly journals for delegate insurance recharges;
> To manage the administration of opening and closing costcentres, project codes,
donor codes and work orders;
> To review monthly balance sheet reconciliations for the International Division
including Travelex, procurement cards and cash advances;

Financial Monitoring and Reporting
> To produce the monthly International Finance Department spend report

Planning, Budgeting and Forecasting
> To be the finance contact for supported teams through planning, budgeting and
forecasting

Programme Accounting and Support
> To provide financial guidance and advice to members of supported teams;
> To maintain the integrity of the financial information in the finance system for
supported teams;
> To review and process grant agreements and grant transfers for supported
teams;
> To process delegate mission floats for supported teams;
> To be the contact point for all BRC funded delegate pot queries; disseminating
information, providing internal training and updating process and procedure
documents as and when required;
> To coordinate with Country Managers to ensure the efficient tracking of all BRC
funded delegate grants and resolving any issues;
> To monitor and track BRC funded delegate pot grant payments in PIMS and BRC
contracted staff’s monthly payroll payments;
> To manage the annual planning delegate request process and assisting with
analysis of how this funding meets BRC’s strategic objectives.

Restricted Funds
> To provide financial support for bids & reporting to all restricted fund programmes
in supported teams
> To provide financial support for audits and close-out to all restricted fund
programmes in supported teams

Management and Training
> To carry out the financial induction for new starters in supported teams;

Financial Administration
> To arrange International Finance meetings, compiling information where required
and providing accurate minutes of meetings;
> To ensure the International Finance information on RedRoom and the website is
kept up to date;
> To ensure the maintenance of an efficient filing system for International Finance
in PIMS;
> To provide administrative support in the organisation of International Finance
conferences, courses, away days and workshops;
> To support the recruitment process for International Finance from sending out
application packs through to organising interviews and tests;
> To support International Finance team members in arranging travel plans;
> To monitor International Finance travel and stationery budgets, to code and
process relevant invoices/forms using Agresso;
8.
Other
> Undertake any other appropriate duties that may be required by the International
Financial Accounting Manager;
> To have signatory responsibility (up to £1k) for International Finance expenditure.

Education &
training
Experience
> “A” Levels or equivalent
> Previous administrative experience*
> Familiarity with budget preparation and general financial administration*
> Experience of compiling and summarising materials for a variety of audiences, such
as donor proposals and reports*
> Experience of bookkeeping or working in an accounting function
Skills &
knowledge
> Highly computer literate with advanced knowledge of Excel, Word, Powerpoint and
computerised accounts systems*
> Excellent written and verbal communication skills*
