Health and Physical Education Requirements


All students must take .50
credit of Health

Physical Education (.25 credits) should be taken prior to
Weight Training (.25 credit) or Wellness Training (.50 credits)
Starting with the class of 2014, students who participate in two
full seasons of interscholastic athletics, marching band or
cheerleading may earn .5 credits of physical education. See the
Program Planning Guide for details.
Support Services Electives
 Office Aide allows a student to earn
.50 credit as a pass/fail grade to be an
office assistant and to run errands for
the administration. This is by
application only. See Mrs. Drenan for
an application.
 Students may be an office aid twice

ACT Testing
 ACT is the most widely required college entrance test. SAT is required
by some colleges on the east and west coast. Please check with your
college to see which tests you should have on file.
 ACT has a WRITING component. Entering College Freshmen should
have a writing score on file.
 We encourage all juniors to take the ACT in the second semester of that
year. Please take the writing section at least once.
 You may re-take the ACT test as many times as you desire. The highest
score will always be acknowledged.

hour pathways at the universities,
and some universities are changing
their admission requirements to
make CCP more accessible to
students.

To receive your schedule you must have ALL CLASS FEES
for the current year paid in full.
All Schedules must be returned
by January 29th to Academy Teachers
 Parents should read the informational box
on the back of the scheduling sheet explaining
fees, schedule changes, CCP and other
valuable information, and they must sign the
back of your sheet.

 Art & Technology has a prerequisite of
Basic Art. It is the study of digital media as a
means of communication and artistic
expression.
 A.P. Studio Art Drawing or 2D must be
taken in conjunction with Advanced Studio
first semester as a preparation for the
portfolio. Teacher recommendation required.
 Drama is offered to grades 9-12, Advanced
Drama is available to students who have
completed Drama.

this class covers the
organization of the United
States legal system. Local
officials and experts will
speak.

students will engage in a
computerized environment to
conduct economic research
and application of
fundamental concepts.

psychology and sociology
studying how people reason
and think and how cultures of

is a challenging and rigorous
academic curriculum that
requires strong reading and
writing skills. There will be

 Financial Literacy & Business Concepts (Grades 9 and

Business Electives
Business Law helps students see what it would be like to
begin a business learning about contract law and
financing a business.
We offer Accounting - grades 10-12. This class satisfies
the Financial Literacy requirement
Senior Project allows students to complete two
internships in career areas of their choice. This is an
outstanding way to help define their career goals.
College Tech-Prep Programs
 Business I & II with option for Business Experience
This program focuses on office management and computers.
This program also has a work component. See Mrs. Brendel for
applications.
 Marketing I & II with option for Marketing Experience
concentrates on the sales component of business. You will study
advertising and promotion. There is a work component to this
program as well. Please see Mrs. Haller for applications.
 To participate in the Experience course you must be 16
years of age with transportation
English Electives
 Newswriting is a pre-requisite for
Journalism. You will learn that unique style of
writing.
 It is required that students take both semesters of
Annual Staff as they create a yearly product.
Devils’ Tale editors are recommended to take
both semesters.
 Speech is highly recommended for all students
as every career requires clear communication
skills
Performing Arts
 Marching and Concert Band require Mr.
Lenzo’s initials if participating for the first
time. There will be a try-out for Band
Auxiliary

Project Lead the Way
 Intro to Engineering Design is a level I class in the
Engineering curriculum. Pre-requisite or Co-requisite: Algebra I
part II
 Principles of Engineering is the level II class introducing
mathematical and physical concepts. Prerequisite: Intro to
Engineering Design and Algebra II
 Digital Electronics is the study of electronic circuits used to
control digital signals. Prerequisites: the previous two courses,
Algebra III can be taken concurrently and teacher approval.
 BioTechnical Engineering is the fourth level exploring
biomedical engineering, molecular genetics, bioprocess
engineering and agricultural and environmental engineering.
Technology Electives
 Basic Metals is a pre-requisite to
Advanced Metals
 Engineering Graphics is basic Engineering and CAD
(Computer Aided Design) Traditional drafting equipment and
computers will be used.
