Reporting
Working with Parents
• FERPA (Federal Education Rights and Privacy Act)
• Now that your student is in college, the ownership of access to
student academic records is transferred directly to your son or
daughter.
• According to FERPA, college students are considered responsible
adults and are allowed to determine who will receive information
about them.
• The best way to for you as a parent to receive academic information
is for your son/daughter to provide it to you. At UWSP, we believe
that this communication will foster long term growth in
relationships.
• Personal Challenges vs. Emergencies and
Crisis
