Entrepreneurial Scholarship
Tom Phillips, longtime newspaper publisher and local businessman has exemplified
community involvement the entrepreneurial spirit. He has been a champion of small
business and has taken steps throughout his career to promote and grow area enterprises.
He has been a mentor, advisor and cheerleader to many, contributing not only his talents
and expertise but his resources as well. This scholarship honors the man and pays forward
the seeds that he has sown throughout his career that have grown and flourished.
This scholarship is awarded to a Nokomis High School Senior and a Pana High School
Senior that has exhibited strong entrepreneurial traits, has intentions or has already
started their own business or is entering a field of studies that may lead to them starting a
business.
Nokomis and Pana students must submit an application and be willing to participate in an
interview process by May 1st, 2015. These $1,000 scholarships can be applied to the
student’s business, business start up or education.
