Congratulations to the #21 Jordan Johnson race team on winning the "Hetteen Cup" for a
2nd time!
We at CSM are a proud sponsor and couldn't be happier for them on this big win. Great
job guys!
Jordan Johnson #21
As I am sitting down getting ready to type up our race recap there is a very powerful emotion
that has taken over.
I hope when I am finished with the recap you will understand why there is this great emotion.
Jordan Johnson racing traveled to the “Main Event” for “The race for the International Hetteen
Cup”. This race is in honor and memory of the late Edgar Hetteen, the Father of Snowmobiling!
This race and event, is as meaningful to our race program as the World Championships! Prior to
going into the weekend Jordan and I continued to do significant testing (20 hrs) in attempt to
make our race sleds better. So as we unloaded our race sleds there was excitement and
anxiousness within our trailer. Here is were it becomes really fun!
In the 340 Liquid super stock class there was a total of 16 race sleds signed up. So in the heat
race Jordan was able to put our 340 Yamaha SRX in the lead and stayed there until the checkered
flag flew. Then in the final, we lined up against some of the toughest race sleds and drivers in the
midwest. as the field launched off the line, Jordan was in 5th place somehow finding a line that
worked for him coming out of corner four, Jordan gained the lead and never turned back taking
the win.
In the next race for the cup we ran our 440 Yamaha SRX in the 440 liquid super stock class,
competing against 9 sleds including the 2013 world champion as well as the 2011 World
Champion. Our goal was to be in the top three. In the last 3 years of racing I have never felt this
much emotion and excitement at a race as I did in this race. Jordan shot our SRX into the lead
going into corner one and battled, and I mean battled the 2013 champion for three laps to take
the checkered flag and the win!
Getting back to the trailer to meet Jordan I was so over whelmed with emotions all I could do
was give my Jordan a huge hug!! After that emotional win we needed to regroup to go out and
race in the biggest class of the entire event. 17 sleds signed up for the 340 liquid /440 fan combo
class. Just in this class there was a total of three 2013 World Champions. Can you say incredibly
tough competition?
Short and sweet recap Jordan raced our 340 SRX as hard as I have seen him drive all season! In
doing so Jordan captured the win to really put our race team in the hunt for the overall chase for
the cup! In our last race of the day Jordan once again needed to do battle with our 440 SRX
against the 2013 champion. I would have never thought in our wildest dream Jordan would be
able to beat him two times in one day, but you guessed it Jordan continued his chase for the cup
by winning the Open Super Stock class.
As the awards ceremony began, the top drivers began to collect their awards, so did the pressure
of who was going to be crowned the 2013 Hetteen Cup Champion! The director of the event
(Paul Hitchcock) captured the entire ballroom's attention by stating “And the winner of the 2013
Hetteen Cup Champion is...” then a long pause and I mean long pause he said “ #21J, Jordan
Johnson!"
Once again I became so over whelmed with emotions I could hardly breath. To be able to
experience that moment with our entire family was a memory that we will never, ever forget!!!
Jordan Johnson racing is Blessed to have been given the chance to race the for the Hetteen Cup
and to be able experience the event with our entire racing family!!! Next race recap will be our
annual year end fun facts! Have a Blessed Day!!!
Dan/Jordan Johnson Racing #21J!!

2013 Rally A Hit!
The 2013 Rally was held Feb 9th 2013 and was a huge success! Great weather and just enough
snow made for a great day. The year 1970 was the feature with a number of very nice sleds and
people dressed in period correct cloths. We are still crunching the numbers but it looks like close
to 400 people in attendance and almost 200 show sleds. Thanks to everyone who attended and
look for more pictures and updates to follow!

Ready for the Rally?
The 18th Annual Classic SnoMachines Rally is
4 months away but there is never enough time
to finish those projects. I am still working on
mine and hope to have it done by Rally time.
Remember the date is February 20th, 2010 and
the show is back in St Anna at the Landing
Bar. Moving back to St Anna should help with
some of the problems we have experience in
the past, namely no snow. We plan on having a
trail ride. The details are "still in the works"
but worst case scenario we could ride on the lake.
This years feature is Skiroule and Brut. We hope to have a strong feature turn out much like we
had last year with Yamaha. We will have a special show area for these sleds and separate
trophies as well as a display inside the bar.
We also have clothing with the Skiroule and Brut images on them. Silent and live auction and
other surprises. Contact me with any questions starcraft4404@aol.com
Well did you figure out from the picture what my project sled is?

NEW LOCATION FINALIZED FOR 2010!
Well the masses have spoken. For years since we left St Anna all we ever heard was "when are
you going back?" So I am glad to announce that next years rally will be back in ST Anna Mn.
With one small change. As many of you remember we had a sometimes rocky 10 year
relationship with the owners of the past location "the ballroom" So going forward we will be
working with Dave from the "Landing" which is right next door to the "ballroom" His facility is
larger and provides the same great access to Pelican lake that we enjoyed in the past. I think
Dave will be a great partner and we at CSM look forward to a long and successful relationship.
I would also like to thank Tony from Goatropers for hosting our event for the last 4 years. Tony
was a great partner and helped us in many many ways. It was a very difficult decision to leave
but the timing just felt right. Thanks again Tony! We do plan on having a trail ride at Goatropers
sometime this winter. See our web site for further details.
Well that's about it remember the Date for the 18th annual rally is Feb 20th 2010 and the feature
will be Skiroule/Brut

4th Annual VSCA National Championship!
Classic Sno-Machines was again on the road this time to lovely Thief River falls Mn for the 4th
Annual VSCA National Championship. The show was held May 15-17th The location was the
Ralph Engelstad arena. 150 of the finest vintage snowmobiles from around the country and
Canada where hoping for the prestigious VSCA National Championship trophy.
CSM was not only there to have fun but we where there to work with Mike and the VSCA
helping out with the registration and the judging. The completion was unbelievably tough with
most sleds either past show winners or certainly capable of winning. As expected a lot of Arctic
Cats and Polarises. All though missing where any King Kats or EXT's. A number of rare race
sleds, Mod's 793's speed sleds and Sno pro's.
Evening where spent at the Black Cat bar owned by Arctic Employee Joey Halstrom. Good food,
drinks and being able to "rub elbows"and listen to stories from racers like Jim Dimmerman made
for a very memorable experience. There where also a lot of autographs handed out with my
brother Jerry collecting most of them!
The show wrapped up on Saturday evening with the awards banquet and buffet dinner in the
lower level of the arena. CSM members brought 9 sleds and walked off with 6 awards. Winning
where Jim Jopp, Captain Cale Johnson,Jerry Johnson, Schindler Bros and Allen Theisen. The big
winner and national champion was Tom Ishe with a Puma 793.
A good time was had by all and we got to visit with old friends like Jerry and Bill form ARS,
Larry form Vintage sleds, Jack Speckel, Al Brugenthies,Joey Halstrom and a number of CSM
members. We also made some new friends Perry Hestness and Jim Dimmerman. A big thanks to
Mike and Judy of the VSCA for putting on a great show and can't wait till next year.

Rally 2009
What a difference a little snow can make! With 4 inches of fluffy white stuff the night before the
rally for the 1st time in years it really seamed like a traditional Minnesota winter. The rally was
again a great success. Held Feb 21st at Goatropers bar in Farming, Mn., we had a great turnout.
Especially stong where the Survivor class and the feature Yamaha class. There where a number
of really nice restored and original machines on hand. The snow made for a decent trail ride to
St. Martin and back with about 35 machines making the 12 mile round trip.
Inside the silent auction provided some tresurers as well as a live auction for some great
entertainment. We noticed a lot of new faces winning awards this year as well as some old
friends. Best of show went to Bill Adams with a awesome Scorpion Super Stinger. See the
complete list of show winners below. Loud sled contest winner was Jerry Leggat with his 793
Puma. Jerry let me take it for a ride at it was unbelievable! Thanks Jerry. At the awards we
announced next years feature which will be SkiRoule and Brute. So get those green and orange
machines ready.
We would like to thank all of our sponsers St. Joe Snow Joes, C and L, Arctic Restorations,
MVSS ( thanks John for all the silent auction items!) Mike Kascht, BeeLine, and of course our
host Tony from Goatropers. We couldn't do it with out all of Tonys help. 2009 was great and we
hope to make the 2010 rally even better.

FINALLY AN UPDATE!
For all of you who where wondering where the guys from Classic Sno-Machines have gone, no
we have not lost interest or forgot about the website, or been in jail. Actually the reason for lack
of updates has been issues with the company doing or web hosting and updates. To remedy this
problem we have enlisted the services of Larry Preston of VintageSleds.com fame. Larry has
been great to work with and will provide us with timely updates. Thanks in advance Larry I
know it will be a great working relationship!
We at Classic Sno-Machines have actually been very busy since the last update. In September we
made the long trip to Eagle River Wisc to attend The show and World championship grass drag
races at the famed track. If you have never been there I highly suggest making the trip. The track
is very impressive and the people are really nice. On the way there we stopped off at the
Snowmobile Hall of fame in St Germain. Also a must see. There are a wide range of machines
there. Everything from original trail sleds to incredibly rare restored race sleds. They also have a
functioning restoration shop there. look for pictures in the upcoming newsletter.
Speaking of the newsletter members should be receiving there next copy of the newsletter in the
next 10 days. That should get us almost caught up. Remember we are always looking for people
to contribute articles and any other interesting sled related items. As well as free classifieds.
Of course we are frantically working on this years rally. Remember it is Feb 21st at Goatropers
in Farming mn. This years feature is Yamaha and a sample of the clothing artwork can be see
on the site. We have sold half of the clothing already so if you are interested in purchasing a tshirt or sweat shirt you may want to e-mail me to assure you get what you need. My new e-mail
is starcraft4404@aol.com We are also looking for silent auction donations.
Well I think that's about it, I have to get ready for Waconia. We will be there on Saturday. Hope
to see you there.

Loud Pipes!!!
January 7th, 2008
The 16 Annual Classic Sno-machine Rally was another success. Finally the temperature
cooperated a little but still not much snow. That made for a kind of rough trail ride but 20
or so hardly souls made the 10 mile round trip. The silent auction was a hit (thanks to
everyone who donated items) as well as a spirited live auction. Thanks to Tony from
Goatropers Bar for all the donations. The highlight of the live auction was the sale of the
1971 Moto Ski which went to a local guy for $225.00 The Loud sled contest drew a crowd
with "team Johnson West "taking home the cash with of course a Johnson. Best dressed
went to Ray Theisen wearing Skiroule colors. Best of show was a Polaris "lil Andy" It was
announced during the awards that next years feature will be Yamaha also look for a new
date for the rally next year. We are looking at moving it to the end of February or the
beginning of March. Thanks again to everyone that made 2008 a success and look for big
things in 2009!"
December 10th, 2007
CSM President Allen Theisen just completed this Ski-Roule SE 400
November 1st, 2007
It is time to start thinking about the 2008 Rally
again, as mentioned in the newsletter the feature will be any sled powered by a Hirth ® Engine,
This is a unique idea as far as feature sleds are concerned – we could see anything from the old
reliable one-lungers to the awesome Hirth Honker 793. I tried to find out how many sled
manufacturers produced machines with Hirth power under the hood – I can not find any accurate
information on this, but I am sure this feature will include a very extensive variety of machines
in about as many shapes and colors as one could imagine. The show will again be held at Goat
Ropers Bar and Grill located in Farming, MN on Saturday February 2nd 2008, the format will be
much like it has been the past two years – a trail ride (approx. 10 miles) if weather permits, a
loud pipes contest, a silent auction, a live auction, and of course the awards presentation at the
end of the day. The CSM board has discussed the idea of having a swap area as well, at this point
we do not have a designated area for this but I am sure we could come up with one – If we have
enough interest in this we will provide space for any vendors – Contact Al Theisen @ 320-6859874 as early as possible if you want to take part in this, we did have several vendors at this
years summer show and that went over quite well. Remember – Mark your Calendar for
Saturday February 2nd, 2008 – the next issue will have more information on this event as well as
directions and parking information.
16th Annual Rally & Show Info
September 1st, 2007
The 8th annual summer is now history.
Hot was the word of the day with temps in the 90s but it didn’t stop hard core snowmobile
enthusiasts from coming to Cold Spring MN for the Classic Sno-machines summer show. This
years show field was “across the creek” from the last few years location. Providing a better show
field as well as easier loading and unloading. There also was some much needed shade. Many
different manufacturers where represented with a large number of trail sleds present. Old friends
and some new faces made for a great day. A special thanks to Dave from super America for
providing breakfast and soft drinks. Best of show went to Ted Stanger with his 70 300d
Chaparral. Thanks to everyone who went the extra mile to bring sleds. Next up the 2008 16th
Annual Rally.
June 1st, 2007
2007 Classic Sno-Machines summer show
this will be held on Saturday July 28th in conjunction with the Cold Spring “Hometown Pride
Days” located directly behind the Cold Spring brewery located in Cold Spring, MN. We at CSM
try to keep the summer show a bit more relaxed than the winter show and rally – we will still
have awards as well as a “Peoples Choice” trophy. The show is located adjacent to the Cold
Spring Street Machines car show and a vintage tractor show as well as many other activities for
all ages around town, you will be able to unload on the street and park your trailers next to the
show area – we do recommend getting there before 9:00 am if possible as the street we are next
to will be closed to traffic after about 10:00 am. Last year some of those attending brought swap
items, once again we encourage this! If you have any items please bring them - we do not at this
time have an “official” swap area but you are welcome to bring items in and display your wares
near your sled, we do not have room for trailers in the show area but you could park a swap
trailer in the general parking area next to the show if you would like. See you at the show!"
April 5th, 2007
We still have some clothing items left from the 2007 rally (John Deere and Massey) feature, if
you are interested in purchasing any of these items please contact Allen Theisen 320-685-9874 prices have been reduced to move! These will also be available at the summer show as well.

Show field view of some of the machines at the 15th annual
winter rally and show
A special guest appearance by the 2007 "Hetteen Cup" winner
Mike Maegher
The 2007 CSM best of show winner, Chuck Moser on his
winning John Deere
The 15th annual Classic Sno-machines rally was held Sat Feb 10th 2007 at Goat Ropers bar and
grill located in Farming, Mn. The temperature was a chilly -21 when we arrived to set up for the
show, it was cold but that didn’t stop 300+ people with 138 machines from coming to the event.
Feature sleds this year were Massey Ferguson and John Deere – we had a strong turnout in the
John Deere class, survivor class is also becoming very popular with many great entries as well.
Several people did bring their winning sleds from the 14th annual rally to be proudly displayed
in the winner’s circle. This event also included a “Loudest sled” contest for the first time – this
generated a lot of interest along with a lot of noise! Mike Sobieck was the overall winner with a
mint restored 1973 Polaris Starfire 650, a big thanks to Jack and Kevin for helping with this
contest and providing the sound meter. Live and silent auctions were going on all day with
many very nice items available to bid on including a vintage racing print, pedal tractor, and
many other vintage snowmobile parts and miscellaneous items. Mike and Judy Maegher from
VSCA were there with the Hetteen cup he won the week before at Glenwood vintage racing
event. Best vintage dressed was once again won by a participant in vintage “Cat” gear.
Unfortunately the lack of snow forced cancellation of trail ride, many people were willing to
ride anyway but the trail looked a bit too rough with about 1” of snow. The big winner of the
best of show went to Chuck Moser with an awesome restored John Deere 340s. The feature for
the 2008 Rally was announced, this will be “Hirth Power” focusing on the 650 and 793 models
but including any machine that is Hirth powered.
Overall the 15th annual went well considering the weather was once again a major factor,
Thanks to all of the CSM sponsors, Goat Ropers bar and grill, Mike Meagher and VSCA, and
last but not least all of the participants for bringing and showing their machines.
January 17th, 2007
These JD's belong to CSM club
member Chuck Moser, hope to see these at the 2007 winter rally and show - I hope we have

2007 CSM Rally and Show
Saturday, February 10th 2007
It was a tough decision but in the end John Deere and Massey Ferguson were the winners. The
rally will be held at Goatroper’s Bar and Grill (Same location as the 2006 rally) in Farming, MN
on Saturday February 10, 2007. Registration will begin at 9:00 am, a silent auction will be
running all day inside the bar – we will have a live auction as well – the time will be posted.
Goatroper's will be serving up plenty of good food and refreshments inside the bar the entire day.
Judging will commence at 1:00 pm, you may register as many sleds as you wish with a single
$5.00 entry fee, We have decided to bring back the “Winner’s Circle” again for 2007, any
winning sled from 2006 will receive a dash plaque and be displayed in the front row along with
the feature sleds. All participants and spectators will be required to purchase an entry button. The
awards will be at 3:00 pm sharp inside the bar, Hope to see everyone there on the 10th!

The 2007 CSM winter show and rally is right
around the corner! The image below is a proof of
the art work for the shirts and buttons for the
upcoming rally. The feature will once again be
shared by two different makes, John Deere and
Massey Ferguson. The rally will be held at
Goatroper’s Bar and Grill (Same location as the
2006 rally) in Farming, MN on Saturday February
10, 2007. Registration will begin at 9:00 am, we
will have a silent auction all day inside the bar –
we may even have a small live auction if we can
round up enough items to make this possible.
Goatroper's will be serving up plenty of good food
and refreshments inside the bar the entire day. Judging will commence at 1:00 pm, you may
register as many sleds as you wish with a single $5.00 entry fee –all participants and spectators
will be required to purchase an entry button. The awards will be at 3:00 pm sharp inside the bar,
Hope to see everyone there on the 10th!
