Midterm Exam 1

3 and 4 and class discussions.
• Review your lecture notes and
especially the key points identified on
the following slides.
• Bring your own pen/pencil and paper for
the exam

Chapter 1:
– Be able to explain the meaning of globalization and the concepts
• Globalization of markets
• Global products
• Global customers
• Globalization of production
• Global companies
– Be able to identify and describe the functions of the primary global
institutions and their origins in the Great Depression
– Be able to explain the three drivers of globalization and why they
have contributed to globalization. Be able to explain how these
three drivers are evident in Freidman’s article “It’s a Flat World,
After All,” and the Ikea case
– Be able to discuss all aspects of the Globalization Debate, pp. 2635
– Think about the Tom Friedman article “It’s a Flat World, After All”
and the class discussion of the article to be able to summarize its
contents and explain its implications for college graduates and their
future careers
